Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

#1 by hanako - Dec 29 2014

This topic now locked - further update and testing details available NEW BETA UPDATE!!! Details within! - 1.3 - January 2015

It's that time again - time to gather up suggestions for new plot options to be inserted into LLTQ in an upcoming patch!

We are probably not getting any new character art (unless the artist says otherwise!) Also, this is NOT an expansion pack, a sequel, DLC, or anything like that. This is adding and altering options and outcomes within the existing game.

For example, in our previous runs of new plot, we added options like setting Kevan on fire or marrying Briony's dad. Smile

While I make no promises to add anything suggested, if you don't suggest it I'm a lot less likely to think of it, so go ahead and throw ideas out there. I have several things I'm working on already, but I'm up for more.

I can think of one thing right now - please make it possible to survive the peasant rebellion without magic (or spies). If I think of anything else, I will post it here.

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

#3 by hanako - Dec 29 2014

Well, the best way to handle that without magic or spies is to not have a peasant revolution. Smile

There may be some new options for monitoring how badly you're doing with the people in order to help figure out how to avoid it, but once la révolution is officially underway, it is intended that you're kind of screwed. This is a meaningful political moral: you can't rule the people if they don't let you.

I want to see an Elodie that is fiercely protective of her dad, family etc. but is excessively cruel to others in an evil ending that isn't being Togami's minion. Or just more evil Elodie in general that doesn't bow down to anyone. And of course, more evil options would definitely be great. Razz

Also an evil but non-Lumen Elodie sounds like a great idea too.

More options to deal with Togami that doesn't require Lumen would be good, since right now it seems that without being a Lumen the only possible ways to deal with him that don't end up disastrous are singing to him and crushing his military (which is nigh impossible without lumen magic as well).

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

I have a few things in mind:

1) Introduce a plot related to the Lumen you can interact with on week 20. Maybe a new option which allows you to keep him in your court and learn of his backstory.

2) Making a full on war with Talarist possible, both an offensive and a defensive one.

3) Anything with the rarely used characters, such as Armand, Severin, and Bennett. With Benett, maybe you can plot with him to overthrow his brother/sister (as his actions seem to make him out as even more dubious than Banion).

4) The ability, when your cruel stat is high enough, to go on a kind of inquisition of sorts with the nobility. Perhaps make it lumen related, and you can accuse different nobles of being lumens in disguise, and execute/banish them as punishment.

5) Even if there are no more steam achievements, adding more in game to reflect the new additions. I don't know if this would count as gameplay though. If it does, then maybe you could make a checklist of sorts somewhere, in the same vain as the in game achievements.

Thanks for opening up the update to suggestions Hanako! I can't wait for when this releases!

I would like to see another way to get high lumen approval besides killing Togami. I imagine that would involve getting Julianna to do something (maybe kill Keythrongs when they appear) so lumens can achieve "super hero" status in some other manner.

Also, I think it would be neat if Elodie could name a knight, but I'm not sure when would be an appropriate time for that. Maybe after the Shanjian invasion or after discovering Lucille's murderous intentions, Elodie decides she might need a knight for her own safety. Or if Kevan isn't trying to kill you at the tournament, he could compete normally and Elodie has the option of knighting him later.

I'm always starved for games with any sort of lesbian romance, so while I'm delighted at the stuff that already exists, I'm always in favor of yuri-ing it up even more. If you're anti-Lumen and a jerk to Julianna, Brin has a bit of an aside about her many exes, naming Lucille as one of them. I'd love a way to dig into that backstory a little more. I'd also love an alternate ending with Briony that's more lasting than "they had a fun romance but then married other people", sort of the way Brin has two ending options.

And of course I'd be in favor of adding yet another female romance option, but I don't know who would be a good candidate for that.

Thank you so much for taking suggestions.

-I've been really interested in Tombula. Maybe there could be an event where if you piss them off they will make the peasant revolt worse. Or maybe have them agree to aid Elodie against Togami in exchange for her creating a parliament. This could be an easier alternative way to win against Togami, but it would then force you to make concessions to the peasants and weaken the monarchy.

-Developing some of Elodies marriage options and giving them more personality/actual lines like Adair, Thaddeus, Linley, Anciet. Also portraits for them in this case.

-Giving an extra event to the court musician (maybe possibility to assassinate Togami before he makes his move), giving her a name and making her a romance option (with portrait).

-Something involving Gwenelle and her mother. Maybe Elodies comment at the party could have serious consequences.

Honestly the only thing that really jumped out at me during gameplay was being unable to end up with Briony if you resolve her issues without going to the old forest and get the Mead Ducal Family communicating again. If it'd be appropriate for Briony's character, I'd love for there to be another event/skill check after getting her letter and successfully ciphering the message about Kevan that would allow Elodie to continue communicating with her or something.

I'm gonna be thrilled with whatever you guys add, though. : D (And there's a lot of good ideas in this thread, wow.)

When I played the game before, I felt like it was automatically decided that if I got Elodie with a girl, she'd be okay with marrying a man and maybe carrying on with the girl in secret, if that. I would have enjoyed the game much more if there was a way to take the harder path of living a more authentic life: openly committing to the woman she loves, and fighting for the right to stay together and maybe even marry. I loved the game in general, but as someone who fought hard to be able to come out in real life, it left a bad taste in my mouth for my character to be forced into the closet.

If you max your cruelty you should totally be allowed to kill Togami's wife and be his secret crazy bitch mistress. I'M JUST SAYING YOU DON'T HAVE AN EVIL ENOUGH THING. OR EVEN WORSE, HIS SECRET CRAZY MINION QUEEN. COME ON, THERE HAS TO BE A WAY TO PROVE TO TOGAMI YOU CAN CRUELLY RULE- MAYBE KILL YOUR MOST LOYAL NOBLE AND OFFER HIS HEART AND THEN YOU RULE NOVA AND ARE HIS MISTRESS MUCH TO HIS WIFES CHAGRIN / EVENTUAL DEATH

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

#12 by Franka - Jan 2 2015

I would much rather have more small stuff than large, overarching plotlines. More ways to resolve stuff already in game. Sudden strange uses for existing, rarely used skills. I realize I'm not being very specific, but I'd love it if you sat down and looked at everything, adding new touches here and there, in the few places where things are a little simple right now (yeah, those two places in the game).

I didn't get much into the last content update, because I felt like I was being railroaded into specific storylines that had to play out a certain way. There weren't any real surprises, it was more like "play this exact way to get this new story." I want to play the game again and be totally surprised by new stuff when just fooling around.

Yeah, I'm demanding like that. And still not specific. Can you make an update that erases all my previous knowledge of the game?

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

Well, as long as you don't read the eventual listing of what the new added things are then you can discover them by surprise while fooling around... but for real exploration, that's what new games are for! Smile

Franka

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

#14 by Franka - Jan 2 2015

Gief more new incredibly complex sim games then! Razz

I hear what you're saying, but the things I was discovering turned out to be parts of long storylines that really had to be followed to get much out of them. I'd like to see some smaller arcs. They can branch more instead if you want to go wild. Of course, fitting more in alongside the already existing stuff is challenging to make time for. Which is why I'm all for new ways to deal with what's already there instead.

The good news is that since I didn't properly explore the last content patch, I'm in for a much richer experience when we get another one. Very Happy

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

I have several ideas for your consideration:
- Making weekend activities more enriching for world/character building, for example, sneaking outside and bumping into (and initiate romance line with evrard) or observing commoner's approval, dancing practice/hunting with suitors, getting charlotte/adair to play with toys together, playing with frogs together adair in the garden, talking to adults like Armand or Laurent while attending court/cemetery, etc. In short, I hope weekend activities can expand on personalities of the people we don't usually interact with.

- Making the adventure to old forest more rewarding, say unlocking special conversation with Juliana about how mom died in details. I also think it'll be sweet if dad reprimands you for almost getting killed in the old forest and then have a heart-to heart conversation.

- Ability to put Brin/Banion/Kevan/Arisse to jail and rub salt on their wounds just like how you did Juliana Laughing

- More ventures to invest in, say shipyard facility that can unlock longer range canon, so we can win naval battle easier without magic, or lumen research facility to research the magic mirror

- I really like more big events like the ball, where you influence the progression of many plot lines. One idea will be Fabian or Arisse funerals where you can expand the civil war plot, say we can further divide and conquer her family to prevent future civil war or we can trigger suspicion that we kill her and civil war can still happen. I also hope we can learn more about Arisse screwed up family. In particular I'm curious about issues from Corisande X Ignatius side, as Corisande looks so normal that I don't get how she can jump into relationship with Kevan. And also if her kids are potentially product of incest. I also wonder why Ignatius is not a lumen (is he skipped over his sister because he has no talent?) and I hope to meet Adele (who sounds fun) here.

More intrigue with the other families will be great too, say why was Bennet skipped over inheritance.

- Maybe a happier ending for dad without needing to get into loveless marriage? If we can make Togami get a happy ending with his children, how about giving dad a happy ending with his hidden son? He's depressed all the time.

- Suitors wise, I think Kevan romance line could be much better. I like him as a character, but it simply doesn't make sense for Elodie to propose him. As it stands, he has nothing to offer Elodie so I feel that the game is saying "let's marry him so Briony can feel comfortable at home, lol". Elodie knows that he has a fallout with his mom and scandalous reputation among his family so his "family connection" is dubious. Well, unless the game can prove that he's influential with his siblings or sth. I wish the game can show us that Elodie has a valid reason, be it his connection, personality (hey, maybe he's secretly nice to abandoned puppies or sth), looks, or whatever (maybe Elodie is in love with Briony and wants her happy), to favor Kevan after knowing all of his baggage and personality problems.

- Make peasant revolution a bigger event like civil war

Whew! I'm looking forward to this update!

This might be too big, but offensive foreign policy would be neat. A full-on Conquering Warlord Elodie story route probably wouldn't be doable, but maybe some options here and there to try to annex territory, and an epilogue about the results and/or consequences of Queen Elodie's expansionist policies. Some opportunities I can think of off the top of my head would be accepting Talarist's proposal but only if Nova can annex Sedna, or trying to take even more territory from Ixion if you decide to go to battle with them over the contested territory. Might lead to some situations where you have to appease your neighbors by passing economics/foreign affairs/conversation checks to hold peace negotiations and pay reparations, or royal demeanor/intrigue/military/lumen checks to intimidate them into not attacking.

Also being able to do more things with cruelty. I like the idea of a cruel Elodie who rejects lumen magic being able to start an inquisition against lumens, and maybe have the lumen inquisition affect the encounter with Togami somehow. And then have the way you resolve the Shanjian invasion impact the inquisition (for example, if Togami kills Joslyn, public opinion towards lumens hits a record low and the inquisition is wildly popular, something like that).

On a more positive angle, more benefits for investing in the printing press and the hospital would be cool. Though to balance it out, maybe having the printing press makes the peasant uprising potentially happen sooner or at a higher public opinion level, since the printing press makes it easier for revolutionaries to spread their ideas around.

(I love this game, by the way. One of the few games I've ever 100%ed, really excited to see what you end up adding in the update.)

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

- More weekend dialogues with Dad. Perhaps an option to call him out on the lack of advisors if Pressured. Or discuss the possibility of abdication if Depressed.
- Small Quests unlocked via Divination. Alternate weekend activities unlocked via Divination. Alternate Togami (bad) end unlocked via Divination (non-Lumen Elodie can attempt to hide the crystal from him, with disastrous results).
- Roll-Back Alice's name back to Maid. Change it to Alice either after Elodie reaches the appropriate threshold (Court Manners 50 IIRC) or after an event with her.

It would be wonderful if we could have an illustrated visual representation of the existing nobility and their family trees! Despite having played the game many times, I still find myself spending a lot of time thinking: "Wait... who is that again? And they're related to who?" If, during those times, it would be possible to pull up a family tree map featuring the names, titles, and faces of the various nobility, that would be enormously helpful.

The family tree map might even get updated over the course of the game, showing who has died, who has been imprisoned, and who has been stripped of their title!

Perhaps we can even put the newly illustrated boundary map in the game, with the nobility's faces super-imposed over their territories. That would be quite fun!

Oh, some additional flavor text in the marriage endings would also be great. For example, Anciet's marriage end could be a little different depending on whether you have deposed his aunt and/or uncle. Further news on whether Chaine was eaten alive by the other nobles or not would be nice as well!

Finally, and this is more of a bug report - sometimes Julianna will cause the black water sprout to appear even AFTER Elodie had become a Lumen, ruining the parade and giving her the opportunity to become a Lumen again. Be nice if that could be fixed.

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

I don't know if it's possible to change game mechanics, but it always perplexed me why things like choosing Dancing and hunting didn't also raise stats related to that I can understand why the other ones would be relegated to mood, but these are unlockable.

For the ball, I was always disappointed that you couldn't invite Talarist somehow, especially if you're betrothed to him. It'd also put a whole different spin on the forced marriage scenario if Talarist was actually there. I also think it'd be more intriguing if you can pull Talasse and Sedna into a large scale wars, whether it be to protect Elodie in Shadinja/Banion or to fight for the succession. Maybe make it something where you have to pass a skill check or you get the default? Elodie because she messed up international issues over and over/ They're mentioned in the ending, and you can get them to attack you if you botch up the Ixion part too badly, but it would be more gripping if you had to fight them more directly than the little diversion you can go into the game.

Speaking of the ball, what about an out to the forced engagement for a high Lumen? Frying things as Elodie is one of the best parts of the game, and getting to shut down some of the worse of the revolution in one fell fireball would be a lot of fun.

Seconding Spybard as a possible love interest. She was one of the most interesting side characters.

Oh, and the Briony as a magical girl ending! That would be interesting to be more explored in the actual storyline, whether it be Briony/Elodie or not. Even just a small scene or change alluding to this would make that ending more coherent, I think.

Timber

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

#25 by Timber - Jan 8 2015

Perhaps the printing press could be used to get an idea of how your public and noble approval is doing? Like, if you're in danger of triggering the peasant uprising or the civil war, there could be a small event where one of your servants comes to you with fliers they found being distributed around the city opposing Elodie (for peasant uprising) or supporting Arisse (civil war).

It'd also be nice to have more little father-daughter bonding scenes between Elodie and Joslyn, even if it's just the two of them hugging or mourning Queen Fidelia together. My favorite scene in the game is the one you can sometimes trigger early-on where they just hug. Maybe give the option to talk to him as a semi-regular weekend event to get some backstory fluff about the late queen, or Elodie's childhood?

Ariel Schnee

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

#26 by Ariel Schnee - Jan 9 2015

I've got a few :

1. Have Elodie have an actual marriage to a girl in the ending. Not just having her shack up with some girl, but an actual marriage. And have her make it clear that she has no interest in men. As for an heir, just have her father or uncle get some girl to pop one out. I'd really like to see in the ending text about how such an Elodie had made Nova a safe place for same sex marriages and encouraged adoption of children as an option then for such couples.

2. An Elodie who gets a taste for conquest would be fun. Have her get options to conquer other nations. Through war, assassination, etc methods of conquest.

3. Have a cruel Elodie, in a fit of rage, order the death of a castle maid who had bumped into her. And then have her discover she likes it. This type of cruel Elodie would then look for excuses to order the death of girls. Even going so far as to plant fake evidence to make it look like they were guilty of some crime. Have her make the executions a form of entertainment. She would be sitting on her throne, a girl who she had faked evidence would be led in, then shoved into a big container of water with glass walls so Elodie could watch her drown. Which she does so while a smile is on her lips, sipping wine, and a tingle running through her body. This could lead to a very bad ending where even her father turns against her and everyone decides that Elodie "the girl killer" must die. Or an even worse end where she gets away with it and history records her reign as the "age of dead innocent girls" reign.

4. An Elodie who specializes in war with plague as her weapon. Having medical knowledge and having funded the printing press and hospital are necessary requirements. This Elodie then cultures germs and uses them in "plague bombs" to decimate her enemies. Then just goes in and takes over what's left of the country. You could also do a bad ending if her medical knowledge isn't high enough and have one of the plagues mutate into something that kills off half the human population on the planet. Have a picture of Elodie on her knees, with tears running down her face, and a backdrop of a picture of the Earth covered with gravestones. And a caption saying "I never wanted this. Not this. I'm so sorry.".

5. Have Elodie's mother come back from the dead. But not as a human. More like as a vampire or something like that.

6. Destruction happy Elodie. An Elodie who loves explosive attacks and uses them whenever she can. Thanks to her knowledge no one gets killed. But everyone looses their homes. People would be chasing her with instruments of violence with Elodie running off into the sunset proclaiming what fun this all is.

7. An Elodie who makes her passions known and has no problem displaying them. This could result in her being known as a "seeker of pleasure" and having a very hedonistic, lustful, slutty personality. This could result in others thinking she hasn't got the moral fiber to be a queen and try disposing her. Either bad ending they do and she runs away. Or she wins instead and slowly over time transforms Nova into her planet's version of Los Vegas then.

8. Elodie the vampire. She met a vampire and got a choice to become one herself. She leapt at the chance and her reign was recorded in history as the "reign of the bat".

9. Elodie the werewolf. She met a werewolf and got a choice to become one herself. She leapt at the chance and her reign was recorded in history as the "reign of the wolf".

just have her father or uncle get some girl to pop one out.
Elodie's father and uncle Armand are not in the line of succession. They cannot provide an heir.

The line goes Elodie - Laurent - Charlotte.

(Clarifying this because some people have trouble keeping the noble lineages straight.)

Re: Final Plot Update - Planning Thread

#28 by GSN22 - Jan 9 2015

I completely played through the game two versions ago. Not sure how much of this was implemented last version, but...

What I'd like?

1. MATH RAISES FASTER

Some people actually like math! Razz Studies show that math fanatics have the same region of the brain activate as enjoying music.

2. MORE BONUSES FOR SAVING PART OF THE FLEET EVEN IF YOU LOSE THE NAVAL BATTLE.

It never states that it has any impact on the plot beyond a single line during the battle.

3. MORE THINGS TO DO WITH MONEY.

Playing "perfect" you often win the game with more money than you know what to do with.

4. MORE REACTIONS TO ISSUES WITH THE YOUNG BOY OBSESSED WITH FROGS

Ie, like what happens if you correctly call out what happened to him if you wind up getting him killed.

5. SOME STARTING STAT BACKGROUNDS

It'd be nice to have Elodie be given some background choices- like, she could be obsessed with chivalry and have a combat boost or be obsessed with socializing and have social boosts. She always starts at zero in all stats.

6. MORE CHOICES WITH THE "STAT" ENDINGS

The "stat" endings often occur based on which stat is highest (then it gets more randomized if several are). Having more options here would be nice, along with being able to implement more than just one stat-based policy to the rule. Ie, the "animal rights" ending is nice but it seems fairly minor compared to military or magic ones.

7. SOME WAYS TO SCORE BONUS STAT POINTS

Even on my "perfect" quest I wound up lacking some stat checks. I'm not saying you should be able to buy 100% in everything but it'd be nice if there were ways in the game to increase the stats beyond just studying. Ie, having the option of hiring a famous tutor. Like a noted mathematician or a retired general.

8. MORE SPY OPTIONS

On my "perfect" quest hiring the spy usually didn't unlock much of anything in the game since she wasn't as needed. It'd be nice if the spy's presence could unlock more in-game.

9. EVIL GAME REACTIONS

More evil stuff to do (and reactions) would be nice! I did a pure evil run (I even made a topic for it) and while it was fun it seems like there'd be more reactions to the sheer number of nobles and people she winds up murdering than there were.

One thing I heard someone go over in insane detail is they wanted ANOTHER way to stop Togami. I explained it's not quite as limited but basically he doesn't want it to be limited to singing or military and thinks that something like a TRADE method preventing the invasion would be interesting and another perspective, to quote:

"no trade-savvy queen who maybe avoids war by cutting off supplies to the enemies. no working to build allies across the board who can help put a stop to the war without lumen powers. no ability to use animal friends to act as spies or anything weird like that. it's really got a limited scope
4 mins · Like

again. really insanely limiting"

I did mention there are SOME allies you can make with intrigue, but if it's your last update felt you'd like another way to look at it.

Overall, I think their point is they wanted to do EVERYTHING and have it work, and said in that way Princess Maker was superior, but eh. I kind of like that everyone acts and behaves the way they do for good reason....at least to them.

I suggested this in another thread. The note about the squid is from a squid prince. Marry him to ally with the Kraken Very Happy

Umm, maybe having high intrigue give you the option to hire a food taster to avoid the chocolates. Like, you know there's people trying to kill you, stupid girl. (though that you can have a moment of extreme stupidity is still fun) I don't know. I feel like the chocolates thing has been discussed a lot, but that's a reasonable extra solution.

More evil options. Evil is fun. I don't want to actually see it to the "Elodie drowns girls for her pleasure" extent described above, but trying again and again to sacrifice my cousin made me really like cruelty and wish there was more of it.

Here's an awesome idea- why not include a Map of the game accessible in-game, along with the ability to access different areas for descriptions?

You could also do a character index where you can look up the (many, countless) characters in the game.

Their info stats could be updated as time goes by based on how you interact with them or stat upgrades you get that provide more information and background. (ie, certain characters that die, etc.)

It'd also be nice to have an easily accessible inventory menu where you can check out items you've procured in-game or already own. (like your weapons) The vault kinda does that but it is rather incomplete.

Also, I remember being really hardcore and unlocking every ending in the game.

It'd be nice if the game incentivized you for doing this. A New Game+ mode that allow minor unlockables that assist in-game (like minor stat boosts- defeating Togami with magic offers a book of magic duel history that gives +10 in magic stats, stuff of that nature) would be pretty sweet.

If Chrono Trigger and Disgaea series show anything, it's that fans love New Game+ and it encourages players to keep on playing. Very Happy

Transferring 100% of your earned stats from classes would probably be overkill, but something like 50% or even 25% of earned values -- heck, even just keeping previously unlocked Costumes -- would give real incentive to replay.

* As others have mentioned, an accessible map in game (perhaps with a few sentences describing each Duchy as you click on them, which could be fleshed out further if you send Elodie to history classes) would be easy to implement and well worth it.

* More interaction in general with the supporting cast would be phenomenal. I feel like the classes give me plenty of information regarding the complexities of Nova's history and certain political machinations, but after half a dozen playthroughs I still honestly have no idea who these people are -- which ones are trustworthy, what their agendas are, etc. It'd be nice if increasing a stat like Intrigue gave us the opportunity to investigate specific individuals (not just 'the Nobility' or 'the Commoners') to learn what those people really think of you, so you can plan accordingly. It'd be similarly nice if increasing more diplomatic stats in Conversation would lead to options to improve relations with maligned individuals -- perhaps a fee would be associated with either possibility.

* A few more options to deal with the snake and a couple other early-game issues that arise in the first ten days would increase replay value as I'd have different ways to play those first few days than just boosting Reflexes or Composure to avoid the consequences. In the early game in particular I think it's more important to not tie success to any single stat -- there should be two or three different ways of approaching those problems. Otherwise you'll always have the same build around Day 7.

* I don't think you need to add new skills, but it'd be nice if existing skills were fleshed out. Increasing 'Dogs', 'Horses' or 'Falcons' could give you the option to own and name a pet dog, horse or falcon, as an example. Having that pet around can change certain outcomes, but Elodie would also become miserably depressed if that pet died as a result of your poor decisions.

* If there's one existing event that'd really benefit with additional scenes or more dialogue, it's the ballroom dancing sequence. It'd be nice to have the opportunity to chat up the crowd before or after the dancing. In general, I feel the romance element of the game would benefit from just a little more depth -- just a few more snippets of dialogue would flesh out these characters and give me reasons to want to match Elodie with particular suitors.

I really like that idea. It also encourages you to play multiple times in different ways and not to sweat messing stat checks as much. Probably the best way to encourage multiple playthroughs, imo, since it rewards you for doing so but doesn't necessarily give you god-stats either.

There will never, ever, under any circumstances, be an official New Game + for this game. Smile It undermines the gameplay concept and the need to learn and make decisions with tradeoffs.

However, if you want to play that way, I believe someone's written an unofficial mod for that in the modding subforum.

I'm currently most of the way through implementing my planned list of changes, so expect a beta patch to come out in the next week or so. There may be a few more things to come in as people see and react to the new content.

Oh, no! I'm not too late, am I? I've been replaying the game and thinking about this and I've thought of a few more suggestions. If everything has been decided, please disregard the below.

1. Requesting a few more details about Banion, Brin, and Bennett. One person brought up that Banion will still marry Elodie even if Brin has been executed and there won't be any (additional) signs of tension in the marriage. I agree that Banion would probably still marry Elodie, but something like Elodie having a lot of near misses with freak accidents after the heir to the throne (and possibly Maree) have been produced would be a nice touch. Also, Banion being killed in a duel or being executed doesn't do anything to stop Brin from sending Elodie flowers and becoming her girlfriend if she dances with her, even though she still votes with her brother at the Vote of No Confidence. That strikes me as a little odd. Perhaps have her abstain/vote with the queen at the ball (if she's lovestruck) or never send flowers at all (if she's angry over her little brother's death). (And if Elodie win the Vote of No Confidence, Banion's titles go to Bennett, but in the case of Brin's death or disinheriting, Bennett is already the Duke of Hellas. There could be another few lines addressing this (even if it's just something as simple as "I don't know! Pick someone to be Duke of Maree!"). ...I'm actually curious as to what happened to get him disinherited. I can kind of guess with Ignatius, but Bennett's a mystery (was it marrying Lieke?).)

2. Thirding Spybard as another female love interest. She's so hilariously smug. I love her.

3. I also really like the idea of meeting other characters in the castle, just for flavor. Being able to speak with Arisse at least once if she's your advisor is one I'd really like to see, but a couple of other encounters appeal to me, too- I like people's idea of being able to play toys with Charlotte and Adair, and I think speaking with Briony as either a guest or a hostage somewhere would be great. You could also speak with Talarist on week 12 if you turned him down and passed the Court Manners check, since he asks Elodie to show her around the castle (Animal Handling skill check here? Marrying him after this if you don't make him your subject gives the player an epilogue about them having a family with a bunch of exotic pets, so just perhaps an occasion for Elodie to successfully make small talk. Failing wouldn't make him talk about her behind her back, though).

4. Related to the above, I could dig a few more details about the Sedna-Elath situation being added to the game. For example, if you speak with Fabian at the ball while engaged to Talarist, he could have some slightly different dialogue implying, as politely as he can, that he's a little concerned about your choice of husband. He might not think that Adair might be in danger anymore, but he still doesn't feel good about the son (grandson?) of the people who killed Duchess Cayleigh's mother and sister being the king. If Elodie passed the Foreign Intelligence check earlier in the conversation, she'll know exactly why he's concerned. Also, if Adair is successfully assassinated and Elodie doesn't make Talarist the Duke, I think there should be some issues if she tries to marry him at the end of the game, especially if she suspects him of killing Adair and/or he invades when she gives the Duchy to someone else. Marrying him to improve border relations while Adair is still alive is one thing, but things after an assassination would be different. Either she'd be too suspicious to marry him, the nobility and peasants would be too against the marriage to accept it, or both she and him would have demands about the border situation after the invasion that neither was willing to meet or compromise about. Could be another way to get the heartbreak window pane without being rejected by Kevan. If the ending about them having a nice family after a long courtship is supposed to imply that they worked out everything despite Talarist being a manipulative jerk, I think it's best reserved for when Talarist doesn't succeed in any power play he tries - whether it's killing Adair or getting engaged to Elodie (Elodie chooses to go after him in the ending). ...Unless Elodie's cruelty stat is high and the implication is that they're awful people together.

5. Potentially sacrificing other people to the Kraken? If Elodie talked to Julianna beforehand about Selene being a Lumen, there could be an option to attempt to talk Julianna into being the sacrifice. High public speaking + presence + lore or something like that to convince her that being a sacrifice is absolutely serving the needs of Nova, the crystals, and Lumenkind - because if someone doesn't stop the Kraken, it might ruin Nova and cause Lumens to be reviled even further because people would know what woke up the Kraken. Her sacrifice could be seen as a taking of responsibility - damage control. I don't know. This still might not be appropriate for Julianna's character (she might respond that Elodie's the more appropriate candidate), but if it is....perhaps an Internal Affairs skill check to ask her about her feelings about leaving Ursul's duties to Briony or Ignatius? Still a cruel action, but doesn't get you hated like sacrificing Charlotte, since people see it as "good riddance to bad influences". Selene would abandon you after the sacrifice if you did this, however, possibly after attempting to drown you in your bedroom while you slept (Swimming check to survive long enough to open the window to let the water out, reflexes check so you can grab onto something and not get swept out your window and crack your skull)? Or you could sacrifice Selene and have Julianna abandon you? Sacrifice Lucille and ruin your relationship with Charlotte? Possibly have Joslyn step forward and offer himself as a sacrifice if Elodie tries to offer herself? Alternatively, if you defeated the condemned man on week 20 and passed the Lore check when discussing the crystal with your tutor, you could potentially offer other nobles-as-potential-Lumens as a sacrifice. Now that could get a bit tricky, considering the sheer amount of nobles, but it could be limited to whoever you have in jail (Laurent, Banion, Kevan...though I can see the Kevan option going very wrong and Elodie having to select again next week) or....well, if Adair has been assassinated and Elodie was suspicious of Talasse but still ennobled Talarist, she could offer Talarist as a descendant of the House of Elath as a human sacrifice, assuming she has enough troops to arrest him. You'd have to reassign the Duchy of Elath once again and Talasse would be angry with you in the epilogue, but it might bring up noble and commoner approval a little if it's framed as divine justice for Adair's death. Sacrificing Laurent or Banion would still get people angry with you, even if they won't be as angry over sacrificing a grown man as opposed to an innocent young girl. I do like the idea of being able to sacrifice Arisse if you fail a Novan History check (and have enough troops) and having it not satisfy the Kraken since Arisse is a descendant of Yeveni nomads, not Lumen. It would end in everyone being so angry with you that you lose your right to rule and get a non-standard game over. However, I imagine that Arisse probably has some Lumen blood from her house intermarrying with the other noble houses, so that might not make sense.

6. Again, having Briony and Elodie develop a more mature love if the Mead Ducal Family starts communicating again and Elodie can decipher the letter. It wouldn't be super srs business (because Briony), but it'd be nice to have another Elodie/Briony ending.

There are a few other things (marrying Chaine of Mima, getting intelligence about Arisse's successor and unlocking the option to successfully marry Kiran without it turning out badly, getting Kevan out of his situation and into a better one without marrying him, getting Julianna and Selene to marry without slaying Togami...), but those sound more like wanting everything to be perfect, which it can't be. ^^ Also, a friend of mine would really like to see a portrait for Adair if it turns out that more art will be provided after all.

Thank you so, so much for taking fan feedback. I really appreciate it. (I hope this all didn't sound too demanding...)

There actually is an epilogue where you can marry Chaine, Earl of Mima, but it's a complete offhand comment in someone else's epilogue (you fail to marry your original target, so decide to marry him instead) so it's hard to catch.
(And if Elodie win the Vote of No Confidence, Banion's titles go to Bennett, but in the case of Brin's death or disinheriting, Bennett is already the Duke of Hellas. There could be another few lines addressing this (even if it's just something as simple as "I don't know! Pick someone to be Duke of Maree!")
There should be a line of dialogue that already comes up in that case, where Elodie says that the titles will go to Bennett's offspring (Which would be Gwenelle's half-brother Anciet). Which is slightly dodgy for complex Novan inheritance reasons but given the situation at the time nobody's really going to argue with her about it!

There are some other ways to get the heartbreak window that don't involve Kevan - proposing to Kiran after a civil war or Linley if you exiled his mother during the hostage exchange should also get that result.
I think there should be some issues if she tries to marry him at the end of the game, especially if she suspects him of killing Adair and/or he invades when she gives the Duchy to someone else. I believe there's already a slightly different epilogue for marrying Talarist if he invaded Elath during the game, where it's implied that he was still causing trouble and she marries him to make him behave, rather than getting the happy family outcome. I haven't playtested that particular route recently though so I can't be 100% sure it's coming up, but it's at least written in!

For the rest - wait and see what's coming and then possibly ask again? Smile Some points may or may not already be addressed by what's going to beta soon. I just wanted to touch on some things that are already possible, if obscure.

I'd like to second the extra kraken options - there are plenty to of almost lumens and lumens to choose from Twisted Evil
Another thing I'd like is for Elodie to be able to take up Togami's mantle, assuming she has a high lore and military score, defeats him in the duel, and is rather cruel. She'd bring Nova to new heights (and possibly destruction?) by collecting and retuning crystals the way (an educated guess, at least) Togami was.
Something you're already probably doing (if my guess is right) is dealing with Charlotte's lack of a crystal in certain endings, despite having one available... If not, expanding on that would be nice.
Perhaps if Elodie does well, and has high lumen approval and lore skills, she could resume Nova's collection of the light as well and begin Nova's reexpansion; instead of simply cataloging the light as in one ending. None of the endings right now seem to address Nova's relative weakness compared to what it once was; Nova can end up all right with Elodie, but none of the endings suggest it's on it's way to regaining it's former glory. This would balance out that there are several ways to cause Nova significant problems in the near future.
More death endings (ideally somewhat difficult to avoid) are also always a good thing, too (why else would anyone buy this??).

Thanks for an enjoyable game!

There already is an epilogue where Charlotte attempts to bond with the orange crystal, if you have it handy and her mother is Lumen Minister, but it doesn't work. If you have the purple crystal from her mother trying to kill you, though, you're sort of unlikely to just hand it over. At least not soon! This isn't to say what may or may not be being added, just clarifying on what's already there again. Smile

Oops, you're right! I checked and I misread the line about Bennett's offspring and I was going off of what a friend said about marrying Talarist, though now I'm wondering if I even understood what she meant in the first place. :S

I haven't tried proposing to Linley after exiling Charmion, but every attempt to marry Kiran after executing/exiling Arisse gives me the swirly default pane. Of course, I might be missing something to trigger it, so there's that. (And very, very interesting about Chaine. I shall keep a lookout for him in future playthroughs.)

Thank you for taking the time to clarify this! Really looking forward to the patch. :O
