Development Plans - 2007

#1 by hanako - Nov 9 2007

None of this is set in stone - these games may change drastically, be renamed, or be dropped entirely. But here's some hints of what's planned for later development.

Twinkle Toes Skating - As mentioned elsewhere, a casual puzzle game based on figure skating. There's not really much to say about this (what can you say about puzzle games?) other than wait and see. It's not our usual kind of game (no big plot, no multiple endings) but it's cute and fun.

Cute Knight Kingdom - Of COURSE we're making a sequel! The biggest change this time around is that instead of just one town, you'll be able to travel around a kingdom. There will be different jobs available in different locations, and travel between them will take time/money (and could be dangerous, if you go off the road!)

Super Charm School - The idea here is that it will be a game about playing a girl who's going to magical school. You will get to customise your character, doll-style, and pick which House she's in, which will determine who her friends are... then play through the school year raising your stats and dealing with your friends, special events, and potential dates.

SOOO excited. These all sound great!! I'm enjoying FH for now, but I absolutely love Cute Knight Smile. I can't get Charm School to open up on my computer for some reason, but hopefully the sequel will work Smile.

Yay, keep up the great work! Smile

Cute Knight Kingdom and Super Charm School sounds so fun!! I can't wait till its released!! By the way, when will the games be released??

hanako

#4 by hanako - Nov 10 2007

I really can't even guess. When the ice skating game comes out, you'll know the others are getting closer - unless I update this with entirely new plans!

There's only one of me, and it takes a while to finish a game! Smile

Naiomi666

damn you never take a break. Always working! Which is fine with me. It just means more games for me to play. I think the cute knight kingdom sounds cool but i am really excited for is the super charm school! It sounds fun.

Question: do you ever feel like that sometimes you don't like making sequels because people expect them to be bigger and better. Or is that just ok for you because you want to make them?

Naiomi666

#6 by Naiomi666 - Nov 11 2007

oh and also will Cute Knight Kingdom have any connection cute knight? Or will it be a whole other universe(no connection to the game whatsoever)?

hanako

#7 by hanako - Nov 11 2007

Probably no connection. Maybe a tiny reference somewhere (a library book or a wandering trader or something might mention something about Michiko and Kirelan).

It was a little frustrating when people wanted a Cute Knight sequel *right away*, since I'd just been working on that game and wanted to do something different. So I was pretty stubborn about finishing Fatal Hearts first. (and then this ice skating thing came up unexpectedly). But I do have ideas for the sequel that I want to try out, so it'll be nice to get to it eventually.

Jinnai

#8 by Jinnai - Nov 12 2007

Finally made my way over here after i heard about the new CK game. Sounds like a great concept, but the time might have to be extended. Having played games where you have to travel between cities it can eat up a lot of time.

hanako

#9 by hanako - Nov 12 2007

You'll be able to pay people to take you to most locations on a wagon, which will get you there faster, both in-game and for the player. But yes, we'll have to see how it turns out in playtesting to see if more time is needed.

#10 by phoenixgirl - Nov 12 2007

Ahhh coolie. This sounds so exciting. I'm looking forward to seeing how the sequels to Cute Knight and Charm School will turn out. Very Happy

And I wouldn't worry about being under pressure to finish either one right away. Like for Aveyond 1, people were so expecting an Aveyond 2 right away but it's best for these things to take time so that they're the best they can be. Smile
Please help and support me here.

Yay! Cute Knight Kingdom, and Super Charm School sounds like it's very interesting game.

You're really amazing, to be able to make those games on your own (and some artists of course.) When I try to script my game, but it's just too much work to do and I ended up losing my motivation.

Anyways, I hope you know how to relax! =3

WA~ I didn't know a sequel to cute knight was coming. ^^ I love that game! Still trying to get all the endings but still....

O.o Can't wait, and if I may be so bold, give me more cute characters whom I can marry. A bad boy one would be awesome, particularly Jareth....

*cough* But all the other games look really cool. Super Charm school is another one I'm looking forward to (I love these types of games. Fatal heart was also a big hit with me.)

In any case, I hope you keep working hard! (since there are legions of fans) but don't stress yourself out. ^^ Good luck!

You said there will probably be no connection to the first game of Cute knight, but is it not possible to have the pink haired girl from the first game to be queen in one of the contries.( With an speical event where you can meet her, but she's not one of the major characters)

Not a direct sequel, anyway.

There might be another game in that style sometime, but my plate's pretty full right now. It's going to take quite a while to get all the games listed finished!

Fatal Heart will most definitely become one of your most popular games. ^^ I don't want to make it seem like I'm asking too much, but I feel that once you're done with Cute Knight Kingdom and such, another "choose-your-own-ending" visual novel type of game like Fatal Hearts should be considered. ^^ I think a lot of people liked Cute Knight because you have a lot of endings based on choices, and Fatal Heart is technically also the same.

There's a lot of potential!

hanako

#26 by hanako - Dec 17 2007

If you're interested in more visual novel games, do check out the Console Games page on the main site (it was originally called that because I had Kingdom Hearts in there too, but it went out of stock at the place I linked it from. I should update that list.)

The top game on that page, 'Ever 17', is really, really good. It does have a male main character - most of them do - but it has a really complicated and interesting story. I've bought multiple copies - for me and to give to friends to make them play it! Smile

Is Cute Knight Kingdom going to have a female main character? I'm not complaining if it is but...*shrugs* after playing countless hours on Princess Maker I've always half wanted to raise a cute little shota.

hanako

#31 by hanako - Dec 28 2007

I've never been a boy - or a mother, for that matter. I don't really have a set of good ideas of what to do with shota-raising at the moment. I won't rule it out someday, but it's not in the plans for right now.

Maybe on the Cute knight kingdom, you can decide to either have a girl or boy.(Some special events on both, but mostly the same)

hanako

#33 by hanako - Dec 31 2007

Except it would make the game take twice as long to make, at least. 'Mostly the same' isn't really the case - at the least, all the graphics would have to be done twice. The whole plot could have to change... the story in the first game really depended on you being a girl, after all, if you saw the true ending. So, lots more work and not really worth it because after unlocking all the endings for the girl side, I don't think most people would want to go and get all the almost-same endings for the boy side, or vice versa...

(Also, the cute knight series isn't really child-raising, since the character doesn't start off so young. A game about adopting a scruffy little orphan boy and trying to polish him into a prince could be cute but it would be a very different story. Maybe someday, but not any time soon.)

I see what you mean, but it was just an idea :3

What if the person had a little fairy friend who's a boy?

Jinnai

#35 by Jinnai - Jan 5 2008

One idea i had for a CK sequal, and this goes back to a point i made earlier, is to have schooling increase the amount you get paid for certain jobs.

So in Cute Knights (Deluxe) you could take Kitchen Lessons to improve brewing & cooking and after a while you gain experience and graduate to new levels of schooling. Well there are some jobs that use cooking so if you have been to school and been certified as a certain level cook then you could ask for more money.

Not every job would work like this and not every type of schooling would be useful, but it would add better integration between schooling and jobs.

Purple

#36 by Purple - Jan 5 2008

I have an idea for the Cute knight kingdom~!
((intro))
You're a girl that has lost her memories(ah, the clique XD) and a boy(the same age) finds you lying on the ground.
He says he's an adventurer, and allows you to travel with him until you arrive to the city. The boy doesn't say much and looks a bit unusual with a bit pointer ears, but is really pretty(bishouen x3)
A few days later you arrive to the city

The boy decides to stay a few days at an inn in the city until you find somewhere else to stay.

((intro end))
This is where you start the part where you try to find a job and such.
You get to pick between some very basic and simple jobs, and when you start to befriend other people, the boy decides to leave.(You can find him again while adventuring)

well, this is where you decide what to do, ((if you want to use this idea ^_^;;))

___________________________________________________

Well, the question about the background is that she's an angel(princess) and one day she fell down from heaven(lol XD).

And the boy who found her is actually the demon prince.(She start to like him more and more each time they meet, and he starts to like her more and more)
So if she finds out that she's an angel due to her wings or magic power (and heaven/angel king/god finds her again) in the end of the game there can be (more than) four endings with him in;

Fallen angel(She goes to the underworld/hell together with him and marries)

Human (They both decide to give up their power and settle down on earth together. There's a few varieties on it;if she has enough magic points/fighting abilities they'll also be adventures..ETC )

Princess/Queen of heaven and hell

A:(They reunite hell and heaven together. The hardest ending, as it 'requires' lots of work.High charm, that's for sure)
B: (She kills him/the demon prince, VERY high sin.)

Princess of heaven:

A: He throws away his title as a demon, and the heaven king/god allows him to marry her, as he sees that he really likes her
B: She gives up her love and returns back to heaven
______________________________________________
If you use even the smallest things of my ideas I'll be really happy X3

Ha Ha!! ~__~ Love your ideas...Bishounens (*drools* Too much shoujo manga for me lately, I guess, but I love pretty boys, the more the better!)

About your ideas, they're really cool, but the only difficulty I have with it is that...wouldn't it be more fantasy-ish? Cute knight is technically a bit fantasy, but I've always thought of it as rather more RPG-ish with very little fantasy aspect, except for the fighting, monsters, and her "Godmother."

But it sounds awesome. Very romantic, and this time, the romantic aspect of it more of the plot, ne?

If this idea is ever used, I think that the player should be alone and meet up with other people afterwards. So, maybe she doesn't meet the guy, and only does so afterwards?

Yesh...Bishouens are the best~

Well, I was thinking that this part of the game might be the most 'unreal' story, but maybe the most 'true' ending, as we get to know who she is and her background. And therefore it's also the most fantastic ending. Well, of course, the other endings are special and good/awesome too. :3

About that she meets him later and not in the start; I was thinking that we want to know who he is from the start, and therefore we,the players, want to find him again, as he disappears almost right after the can actually start the game. :O

But, unlike the last game, I'd love to get to pick between 3 or more guys. <3 >w<

And,yesh, the game would be more romantic...
I like the 'pure' love the most~~! The feelings you get when you're just close to him x3...And not doing anything disgusting -3-

Well, I think I'm going off topic now D:
So I'll just stop writing before it gets worse D: D:
And I'm not making the game,so who knows if our game maker will use my idea* but hopefully she would x3 *

Maybe I'll post some more ideas afterwords, but I'm going to be a bit busy the next few days, as it's my birthday tomorrow*yay~* and I have lot's of homework*boo~* >o<

I'll warn you that while it's possible I might be inspired by a random suggestion, I do have an overall plot outline for Kingdom already, so if you have full-plot suggestions they're not likely to find their way into a game and it might be a better idea to try and develop your own game out of them... (points down to the Make Your Own Games! section)

It is a good romantic idea though!

I know it wasn't listed in the up-coming games, but I was just curious...is there ever going to be a sequel to Fatal Hearts, or is it just going to end right there? Fatal Hearts has been pretty much dominating my life ever since I got it, which is a bad thing considering I have classes to go to. Ah well...we all have to make sacrifices!

If there will be a sequel to Fatal Hearts, that would be very awesome. If not, I'll just have to replay the game over and over and over again until my computer decides to explode on me. Fun times. =D
"They've locked down their fortress! With locks!"

hanako

#42 by hanako - Jan 23 2008

A direct sequel, I can definitely say no. For one thing, I'd have to pick an ending to follow on from! Smile Anything more done with those particular characters and that particular setting should probably be left to the realm of fanfic. Unless someone bought the rights to make an anime out of it, but that's rather unlikely.

Another game in the same style? Maybe someday. Fatal Hearts took years to make, and it'll be a while before I can recharge enough ideas for plot, characters, and puzzles to even start making something similar. I have a vague concept that could potentially develop into a game someday...

(Of course, the best way to ensure that there are more games of a certain kind is to buy them and get your friends to buy them too. Developers can't resist following up on a success! Smile If one game sells enough copies to be able to invest more money in the next, the next is likely to show up eventually...)

PsychicKiwiBird

#43 by PsychicKiwiBird - Jan 24 2008

Awesome. =o I've already been talking to a lot of my friends about Fatal Hearts so maybe if I keep talking about it they'll eventually buy it, if just to shut me up. Annoying people into becoming customers still works, right? I mean...a customer is a customer.
Ahem.
Anyways, I look forward to the games that are going to come out in the future. I'm already considering buying my own copy of Cute Knight. Saw my sister playing it one day and I was very much amused.

Woha, I can't wait! Very Happy

And I can only concur with the opinion that Hanako Games should, in the future, work again with the visual novel genre.
Honestly, I came to this site, and became aware of HG when I read a few reviews on Fatal Hearts. It is, imo, your best game so far. And is also probably the most popular, I got all my friends to play and they all love the game.
Besides, nowadays it is really hard to find good visual novels that are in english, and that haven't got hentai in them (damn those prevert japas), or that aren't overly romantic. So far, the only games I like within the genre are Fatal Hearts and Ever17 (they are among my favourite pc games ever as well), because I enjoyed both stories a lot and the puzzles (really well-done, congrats!) are definitely a plus.

So yeah. Embarassed

hanako

#47 by hanako - Jan 28 2008

Minor plot suggestions (like "I want an ending where you sell ice cream!") or gameplay suggestions ("I want combat to be changed to a DDR interface!") are *possible*, but not always *likely*. It depends on whether the suggestion fits into my existing plans, or whether what I already had planned for that area doesn't work out, or various things.

akashacatbat

#48 by akashacatbat - Jan 29 2008

I'll feel really silly if this is something I can do on my end, but my suggestion would be making it possible to use console-style controllers with the games. I own one, and it is a LOT nicer than always using the mouse or keyboard. My wrist and elbow appreciate it very much.

hanako

#49 by hanako - Jan 29 2008

Hrm, interesting idea. The only controller I have for the computer at the moment is a snes-style one and I don't usually have it plugged in, because if it's connected to the computer at all SOME games think "You must want to use the controller and only the controller!" and happily map everything to it without asking, even though my controller doesn't even have enough functions to map to (since they're expecting a ps2-style controller!).

For the skating game that won't be possible, it really has to be mouse-driven. But for the next Cute Knight, I might be able to rig up a gamepad option.

Jinnai

#50 by Jinnai - Jan 30 2008

What about using a tablet?

Anyway when exploring the dungeons in CKD i always thought it would be interesting to chance upon other explorers. Maybe they would be connected with storyline events or not. Just always thought it kind of weird you were always rescued by someone, but never say anyone.

lill_sweetty

#51 by lill_sweetty - Feb 1 2008

Mm...I agree...I always wondered why is it that I almost always get picked up by the doctor.....

What if you add more to the dungeons interface? It's rather boring exploring, rest, explore, rest. What if you add some....plot points in there? Make it part of one of the ending that you could "unlock" even if you haven't played up to 21st birthday yet. Like, if you explore it somewhere, you'll meet someone who will reveal something relevant to some of the plots you can unlock?

approximately when will cute knight kingdom launch?

hanako

#53 by hanako - Feb 3 2008

It's not written yet. It's not even off the drawing board yet. At this point, I can't 100% promise it will *ever* exist. (It's pretty certain that it will be made, but you never know. I could be bought out by a company that demands I make nothing but games about catgirls.) Right now, it's just a pile of notes and sketches.

There will be more details about Kingdom when the skating game is complete or at least in beta so that I have time to work on it. Smile But I seriously can't give even an approximate date at this point.

But for the CKK is it possible to have at least +2 bisshouens...?
:3
and make the game a bit more simulation than the last one
(a bit more focus on friendship and bf)

Another thing for the game could be a quest system, where you can do different quests( with some plot relations)

Because what I'm noticing with PM5 is that, a lot more happens and it gets interesting because there's so many options than Pm2..even though I don't understand anything they write(I understand when they're talking, though :3)

hanako

#56 by hanako - Mar 9 2008

The Cute Knight series is intended to be more of an RPG than Princess Maker is. So there is less emphasis on developing relationships with other characters (although there is some) and more on exploring, adventuring, and treasure. Some people who are playing are strictly RPG fans. I can make sure there's another cute boy to marry besides just the one prince though. Current plans involve (spoilers, don't look if you don't want to know)
one dashing, heroic prince, and one long-haired mystic But more may wander into the plot as it's being written.

The game currently being called Super Charm School (I may change that name, I don't know) will fall more strongly into simulation, with lots of characters to interact with, and won't have any adventuring. It's really nothing like the original Charm School, which is why I'm not sure whether I should use the same name. The other name I sometimes call this project in my notes is 'Little Miss Witch'. Neither name is really perfect, and I may come up with a better one later. Anyway, that gameplan has about eight boys in it at the moment, so there should be something for everyone... Smile

I can't answer questions about whether there will be any such characters in CKK, subtext* or otherwise, because saying either yes or no would be too much of a spoiler. I enjoy doing surprise twists and turns. While it's fairly obvious that there will be a prince, so saying that doesn't spoil anything, some of the other characters you meet will be quite unexpected... and I can't explain what I mean by that either. I think it's okay. Princess Maker dropped the rpg element in Princess Maker 3 and kept the name. However if you're really concerned about ti, I'd chose a name that emphasied it was more of a change in direction of the series like Little Witches of Charm School or Charm School: Witchcraft Studies

Super Charm School does imply to the average gamer that it will be everything Charm School was and more.

Might and Magic did this well with it's offhsoot series Heros of Might and Magic which was an entirely different game, but took some of the basics from the original. Successor titles which radically changed the game format, but were not offshoot titles are rare. The afore mentioned Princess Maker is one. Probbaly the other good examples are traditional RPGs that became MMORPGs. World of Warcraft takes it's name from Warcraft, even though the entire gameplay is different, it still retains the name of it's originator.

I'm not exactly sure whether I'm sad or happy that you are dropping so many hints. XD It makes me squeal and yet get more and more anxious.

"Mystic" (I love these types of characters). I actually really want a thief/bad boy character, but if that's veering towards the typical visual novel type of character than you shouldn't do it. Razz

Super Charm School-I think it wouldn't be a big deal if you change it drastically. So as long as you keep some features, or there's a connection somewhere. As long as it's a GOOD game, no one will mind, really. Though what Jinnai said is also right. It does imply it's a lot like Charm School, only with enhanced features. I think it'd be better tagged like Charm School 2: ___ ____ or Charm School ____, sort of like you're doing with Cute Knight Kingdom (though it seems CKK will be much closer to its predecessor.)

hanako:

Smile
But is it not possible to just to add some more simulation without decreasing the amount of RPG?
Although, I will be grateful if there's two bishies <3( The prince should be blond with blue eyes..? >w<)

Oh, I so can't wait for Cute Knight Kingdom and Super Charm School! Bishies would be good, totally good!

I agree with lill_sweetty, I had hoped that Jareth and Michiko would've had an ending. A bad-boy is good. You know, something that's the opposite of the prince. A prince is like, royalty and stuff. The bad-boy could be well, not the typical night in shinning armour... And stuff... hahaha...

Well, whatever, I'm so gonna have fun playing! I'm still addicted to Cute Knight until now! heehee... I've already asked my friend if he'd want to buy me a gift for my birthday and he said yes, and I've already got a gift in mind!

As for Super Charm School (well, whatever you call it), I can't wait to play this one, too! I mean, EIGHT GUYS! Who0t Who0t! Heehee... Dear gosh, too much shoujo manga here...

If these games go out before my birthday, I'll have to find a way to get both games! Heehee...

Also will the sequal to cute knight be coming out in 2009?[/i]

I know it's not likely, but I'd still love to see another Fatal Hearts game. It's quite possible to keep that series going without ruining the current game.

I mean, you could make a whole game based on Kirsten's viewpoint, or Bastian's, set in the past. There's a lot of potential storyline there just waiting to be explored.

Also, we know that Christina wasn't the only one to have fragments of Kirsten inside her.

I'd also settle for any game with so much plot and beautiful art, but a successful sequel to the game wouldn't be hard... just make it a prequel.

cute knight sequal

one thing i would like to see in the cute knight sequel is someone from the orphanage that the character knew(could be anyone). In the beginning of cute knight they kick out the girl from the orphanage and we never hear from them again. I think it would be cool if maybe like you can see a care taker or enemy, or even a friend. Maybe they could even offer her a job.

Just a thought! Can't wait to see the game in the future.

I hope it will be as good as the first one and I hope that you will be able to change her regular clothes as well this time, and that the reactions of the people around her will change on the type of clothing she is wearing.

Cool Super Charm School, how about Charm School: The College Years. ;) Since it's a more complex simulation type game.

I'm really excited about a Kishi Kawii Sequel and Super Charm Schoolery. Keep up the machine-like pace Hanako.

But rest from time to time. ^_^

Is there any news about Twinkle Toes Skating and when it'll be released? I enjoyed beta testing it but the news has been quiet about it for a while.
Please help and support me here.

Because that game is signed to a publisher, it's dependent on their schedule. You'd think I'd know, since I'm writing the game, but no, I don't really know when it will be released. Probably sometime in winter? Ice, winter, they go together, right? Smile It's being tested in various places at the moment.

I've pretty much spent this month working on Cute Knight Kingdom, as well as a project to try and port the first game to run on Macs. Next month I'll be off on vacation... and because I'm crazy and game-obsessed, I may come back with even more ideas to try and get a partner company to work on...

Speaking of other companies, Tycoon Games (one of the other people involved in Summer Session) is talking about writing some sort of pirate adventure/romance with a female PC? I'm not involved in that, though, so I don't know anything more about it.

Jinroh

#78 by Jinroh - Aug 22 2008

I see. Could be some kinda marketing type of thing in their minds. I suppose if they're doing testing and such though maybe they have to get things ready. ?_?

^_^ Ice and winter do go together quite well though.

You're just a very busy person ^_^ wow. At least you'll be going on vacation, that should be fun. I had a mini-vacation a few weeks back. I had to fly to L.A. for an interview and spent as much time not interviewing hitting as many sites and beaches as I could. I was only there for 2.5 days, but I hit some good places. I wanted to goto Beverly Hills, but didn't get a chance. >_< No Rodeo drive shopping for me. ^o^

Hope you have fun on your vacation. ^_^

As for the Macs that will be good for Mac users, what made you decide to try and port it to the Mac, just out of curiosity? It is cool that Mac users will be able to play Kishi Kawaii, but I didn't think the Mac market was so great. But I'm not exactly a cool kid expert or anything. ^_^ And forgive me if I'm out of line.

It's sort of hard to answer... it's partly because the person who's doing the porting bet me that it *could* be done. Smile (I'm mostly just guiding/testing the project.) And there was some possibility of getting the game translated into other languages, but to do that would require recoding the whole game (existing engine has no unicode support). And then once we got started, it seemed like a shame to give up...

I don't know how big the mac market is, but Summer Session has made a lot of sales on Mac, and I expect this should sell at least a few. Smile

Speaking of which, if anyone out there has a Mac and already owns Cute Knight, you can email/PM me about receiving a free copy of the Mac build for testing purposes. Smile Dunno how many people are going to have both computers, but it's worth asking.

Ok, ok. ^_^ That makes sense. Yes it would be a shame to waste all that effort and not go through with it. That is an amusing way to start doing a port. ^_^

Ah, I see. Hmm...that is interesting. Yes, I wasn't sure I do not have much experience with the Mac market. But that is very cool that Summer Session is making a good bit off of the Mac people.

My wife wants me to buy a Mac because her sister has like 3 Macbooks and such and she's trendy like that. Using firefox, gmail, likes Macs, so maybe for Christmas...shhhh...-_^ but for me, just give me a IE, a compiler, and a barebones PC and I'm happy. ^_^

Thanks for the info Hanako.

I'm looking forward to Super Charm School (that is if ever get completed), I think it's great that you're making advances on some of the older games. Cute Knight Kingdom seems interesting since I really enjoyed Cute Knight and spent hours trying to unlock all the endings. In my opinion, you work too hard, seems like games in the production cue are limitless and unending.

Anyway, I'm really anticipating the release of these games if they ever come out!

Wow, some very exciting news. Yeah, I was wondering when Twinkle Toes Skating would be released, but it makes sense to wait until winter to release it. I think personally that it'd sell better too... And Cute Knight Kingdom is being worked on! Yay! Don't stress yourself out too much though. You sound like you deserve a vacation.

I'm glad that Tycoon Games is thinking of a female PC game. I have no problem playing as a guy, but it's nice to play a girl sometimes.

@Jinroh-believe it or not, the Mac world is quite big. Not as big as a PC, obviously, but big enough that it warrants having a version. I know some people who wanted to play certain games very much but couldn't because they only had Macs. XD And by the way, Firefox really does rock (Tabs -I know IE has this now, but it was Firefox's idea!-, quick faves, easy installation, quick working that doesn't tire the computer, no ads, and loads of awesome addons like instant spellcheck, dling, weather forecast on every screen...The list goes on. I used to be an addicted IE fan until I found Firefox.). Same with Gmail. I adore their web chatting. No more clunky chat messengers dling. I don't have a Mac, but that's because I can't afford one. XD

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Hmm...I didn't realize so many people preferred Macs, it must just be where I grew up and nobody I knew except one had a Mac. ^_^

I like Firefox, I just don't really use it because it's too standards compliant for me as far as JavaScript goes. I make test programs or games and such in JavaScript and most run fine in IE and FireFox but sometimes FireFox doesn't know how to handle things, but that's less an issue recently. ^_^ I do like the browser, but I'm really just too lazy to switch. ^o^

lill_sweetty

#84 by lill_sweetty - Aug 25 2008

Hm...I understand. IE has been on a long time, so a LOT of things were designed for it. The most complicated of webdesigning and javascripts and the like aren't shown off to the best advantage when in Firefox, but that's recently changing as people are switching to Firefox (in 2 yrs, IE lost 10% of its audience to Firefox, so it must be doing something right!). IE 7 took forever to install, Firefox 3 took a minute (not kidding). IE opens in 6 secs, Firefox in 2... those just aren't enough to beat Firefox's innovation, customization, userfriendly-and-clean look, and light usage. And companies are making sure it works on both now, as so many are switching to Firefox.

It's a hassle to switch though. My computer always opened in IE when I click on a link for awhile, and habit kept making me click IE.... But when I made Firefox the default browser and deleted my IE shortcut on my desktop, it stuck, and is totally worth it. ^^

All you game makers out there, if you ever do web games, it might be a nice idea to test it on Firefox too. I hate having to switch browsers to play games, and end up not playing it. So just a suggestion if you do. Wink Remember, 10% in 2 yrs!

Jinroh

#85 by Jinroh - Aug 25 2008

Yes, IE is a bloated beast. I would hate to see the source code for IE because it probably has so much depreciated code and hack fixes to keep things compatible it would be quite unweildy. >_< That is part of the problem. Microsoft has been getting extremely lazy in recent years code-wise. XNA and DirectX are at the top of the game, but the Platform SDK and .NET are the bottom of the barrel as far as I'm concerned.

.NET is just an excuse for people to write lazy code. I do agree with you that Firefox is a great browser I won't argue there. ^_^

I know this is an antiquated technology, but does Firefox Support VRML? IE for me anyway does not and the only one I can think of that does is Netscape. ^o^

Aw, I liked that in Charm School the player could control 3 characters instead of one, Super Charm School sounds more like something between Harry Potter and Princess Maker.
Well, at least that sounds better than saying that the game will be based on a hentai game (A Maid's Story, I already know, I found it when looking for games similar to Princess Maker)

Probably more like a cross between Harry Potter and Summer Session, but who knows, too early to tell yet. Smile

It's not really a Charm School sequel... there's not that much relation, I just haven't come up with a better name. But since there are so many things to get done before that game can be written, there's plenty of time to invent one.
