Favorite/True ending
#1 by lill_sweetty - Dec 31 2007
I saw someone asking Hanako about what is the "true ending" for the story. Of course, Hanako said it depends on your perspective. Therefore, I would like to ask:Which is your favorite ending? Or which do you think is the "true" ending?
Feel free to vote in the poll, but I'd like to hear why you think so too. By the way, I didn't add the really gloomy, unwrapped up endings like "Drowning," "Childhood", and "Runaways" because it doesn't really wrap up the story. Plus, the poll system won't let me... I added the other "tragic" endings, though, because at least they wrap up the story. And who knows, maybe some of you like tragic endings like Romeo and Juliet.
I have an idea that a lot of people are going to lean towards a certain ending, but let's see....
------------
So here goes. My personal favorite, "true" ending would be "New Order."
Reasons are simple. I've played the game all through 14 endings, and I have to say that one takes the cake for me.
1. It shows Christina as a very likable and strong heroine. She fought her destiny in a way, because she refuses to become Bastian's bride (or at least to stop the ceremony.) She stays true to herself by the fact that she doesn't let the man get killed.
2. The bloodshed ends. Obviously, a lot of things will also have to be worked out, but the main idea is that Bastian and her are now equals, and they're going to work in out with the wolfrieman.
3. I also like it because it shows Christina is Christina, though she might have Kirsten's memories and is one of "Kirsten reborn" (Is it just me or is the Christina in the Hopeful Future ending doesn't seem to realize that she doesn't have the dreams because of the Sight but because she is -one- of the Kirsten reborn?) For some odd reason, I found Kirsten to be very weak. Always afraid Sebastian will leave. She's suspicious of Sebastian. She, having Sebastian's heart but also being part of the commoners, could've stopped the fight at the end from ever happening. But she doesn't do that. Christina does, which shows Christina is NOT Kirsten, but herself. And the Christina that stops the bloodshed-yeah, she's pretty awesome.
4. Christina seem to really like Bastian, because of his never-ending love, and understand he's a kind person. NOT just because she's Kirsten reborn. For Bastian's part, I think that she has Kirsten's memory, but like he said, he's changed, and as much as he wants Christina to be Kirsten, Christina isn't, as she's a lot stronger. And for me, I think what he needs is a stronger person (aka. Christina) to help him through the 21st century. NOT the weak person Kirsten was. For Bastian's part, I think he also realizes that, as he now treats Christina as an equal. The lies stop.
4. I don't like Randy or Katie. Well...I do think Randy's pretty cute, especially when he started talking about him being "Shaggy" and the gang "the Scooby-doo gang." lol. But I think there wasn't THAT much chemistry between them? Or is it just me? Maybe I think that Randy can't really love like Bastian if Christina got with Randy. I mean, Bastian's love for Kirsten withstood time and space. (Sure, it ends pretty sadly, since neither Christina and Katie is REALLY Kirsten, but at least it shows if he loves another person, his love will always be like that.) Can Randy's? As for Katie...I don't like her. I find her as weak as Kirsten (I really like strong females, don't I?) I mean, she was sick, yeah, and her future is grim, but she could've not succumbed to it as much. And the way she opened up that locket to show the blank images, saying she was always wanting the perfect romance makes me sick. It's like Rapunzel or Cinderella always standing there waiting for their Prince Charming. I know she's sick...but still, it feels as if she's using the sickness as an excuse. Like she believes if she gains romance, everything else will take care of itself.

That's my rant. Please tell me your thoughts, as I'm really curious as to why others find Katie and Bastian and Randy with Christina a really good couple!
