Strategist - Both Versions

Strategist - Both Versions

I now have all the endings on both versions EXCEPT the Strategist. I have tried several ways to get there but it always picks one of the other endings.

It's been a while since I played but I did get the strategist in the original version. I think you need to have a high mind so math classes would help. Also, socializing in the town square would help. Maybe working at the library wouldn't hurt. Smile

Do you remember if you went into the dungeon at all or work as the bouncer?

Ok... I only worked at the library shelving books and research and went to school for Fighting and it still came up as a library worker.

Hmm, strange. Well, I do remember that if you want certain endings and not the usual ones like the jobs, you need to not stick to any one place for too long. So maybe going to the dungeon might help? It would make sense since a strategist does need a bit of fighting skill although not too much. Otherwise, you'd get the fighter or some other similar ending.

Nope... still could not get the Strategist and I even used the cheats to set it all up but the closest I could get was the Martial Artist. I think there must be a glitch

It's not glitched, it's just tricky. All the endings have complicated calculations used to determine them, and you can't reliably use cheats to get an ending because there are things OTHER than the stats which are used to determine endings. You could raise your fight skill really high, but you wouldn't be able to raise the number of times you took the fighting class by a cheat, so you might not get the results you'd expect.

The things calculated for the Strategist ending are:

How often you took the Fighting class
Weapons skill (weapons skill must be at least 50)
Mind (mind must be at least 75)

Dream must be at least 100. If you have more than 200XP, it counts AGAINST this ending.

The things calcuated for the Martial Artist ending are:

How often you took the Fighting class
Weapons skill (must be at least 180)
Strength
Luck

So yes, if you're trying to get Strategist but you raise your weapons skill over 180, you'll probably get the Martial Artist ending, because that has more "weight" in the calculations.

(If you were able to get Bodybuilder by just cheating your strength, that probably wasn't because of a glitch either. The actual glitch in the really old versions, you had to use a specific code in order to fix it, not just raising your strength. It was because there was a typo in the code for taking classes, so it wasn't registering that you had taken the class the required number of times.)

thanks for your help. I got the bodybuilder in the new version without the cheats. I only tried the cheats on strategist out of frustration but you have given me some great tips especially about having too much in the weapons. That will help. Going to give it another try Smile

*ARRRGHHH* I give up... I had all the levels as you suggested and came up with working in a store the first time and then working in the library.

I got the Stratigist ending by using the gold cheat code to get me a whole lot of gold, then I took the fighting class over and over and over. So long as you only use a sword in fighting class, your Weapons skill won't rise over a certain point, but if you keep taking the class, your Combat skill will get higher and higher.
