Issue with obtaining the "Family Magic" ending

I don't know if this has been reported before, sorry if it has.

I was going for the "Family Magic" ending. Since month 7 starts you off with slightly higher spells and magic scores, I selected that as my birth month. I spent the first few years training, and entered the competition on 6/25 when I was 20. I won (yay!) but then the game skipped me straight ahead to 7/1. My fairy godmother beat Orchid to the punch, and I did not get my "Family Magic" ending.

I don't know if you're planning on updating the game at all, but if you are, maybe code the game so the conversation with Orchid trigger on the same day you finish the challenge, as opposed to on 7/1. That is, if it's possible.

Hmm, that's strange. That shouldn't have happened. It's been a while since I played Cute Knight but I remember that if you take magic classes and become friends with Rose, then Orchid eventually kicks you out of the class. And then if you beat Orchid in the tournament, you can get the family magic ending as an option.

I have heard that there can be a weird problem, as described, if your birthday is on that particular day. Because it's been so long since the game was first written, it probably won't be patched... it could take a lot of time to untangle the logic to figure out how to get around it, and that time is probably better spent making the sequel instead. But if there *is* a new version at some point, it's on the list of things to fix.

Anyway, thanks for posting it, since it'll help anyone else who stumbles through here figure out what went wrong if they have the bad luck of hitting that bug.

Luckily, I had a recent save, so cheated my age back to 19 instead of 20. Best way to fix the problem without starting over.

Mm...Had the same problem!

I thought it was because Georgina planned it. Because July is the year when you get the most magic, a lot of people would choose it to get the Family Magic. So she made the fairy godmother come beforehand so that you actually had less tries to get that ending with July if you're thinking about entering the competition before the 21st b-day, as it wouldn't work....

I got REALLY REALLY frustrated. Because it took awhile to beat the competition, but then...turns out I couldn't even finish it as my birthday came before Orchid could talk to me. XD

I'm not *quite* mean enough to plan it that way, although some people might think so after the first time they got the 'Oops' ending.

Anyway, I will be recruiting testers here on the forums when (whenever....) the sequel is ready, so you'll get your chance to stomp bugs in vigorous retribution.

That's great news. Beta testers can definitely help out find any bugs in games and get them all ironed out. Sounds great.
