picking a traitor

Question: does picking a traitor make the game slightly harder?

I picked one and I felt the game was harder with an increase of stats of the people in the case or am is it just pot luck?

Just your luck, I believe.

Although making Rowan the traitor tends to inherently make life harder for the early game.
