The Magic Within

Staff fire rained down around them as Jack bellowed "Dial the gate!" His people barely heard him as all the explosions were going off, filling the air with the sounds of battle. He raised his P90, took aim, and fired into the treeline his team had just retreated from. Teal'c used his staff. Major Carter used her pistol.

Daniel Jackson raced down the side of the hill to the Stargate. He began stabbing at the keys on the device, frantically trying to dial Earth. The chevrons lit up, more slowly than Jack would really have liked just then.

The gate finished locking in the fourth chevron just as an explosion sounded and caused Daniel to stumble forward. His glasses fell off his face and hit the DHD, breaking into many little pieces.

"****!" he exclaimed. 'I've got no choice.' he thought. 'I've got to finish dialing the Gate blind.'

Daniel quickly regained his balance.

The Gate locked in the fifth chevron.

The Stargate continued its steady rhythm, the final two chevrons locking into place with satisfying sounds.

Jack shouted, "Send the GDO and go!"

Teal'c and Sam turned to run up the steps, Sam sending the GDO signal.

Daniel hesitated. "Jack, I dialed the last three symbols blind."

Jack looked at him.

He looked like he was about to say something, then the explosions occurred and Death Gliders started swooping down towards them.

"Anywhere is better than here! GO!" yelled Jack.

Daniel paled, but ran up the steps with the rest of the team. One by one they jumped into the Gate. Jack threw himself forward and into the Gate.

In a forest there is a castle. And in that castle is a room. And in that room the Lumens Julianna awoke. Her lover, the High Priestess Selene, stirred as well. Julianna looked off into the distance.

"I feel as if something has... activated, for lack of a better word." she said.

Selene looked at her and nodded. "I feel it too my love. As if something ancient has come to life for the first time in millennia. Should we tell the Queen?"

Julianna shook her head and said "No. I don't think we should bother Elodie about this now. We shall tell her in the morning."

Jack found himself tumbling out of the Gate and rolling along the ground until he fetched up against a body.

"Sorry." he said.

"Quite all right, Colonel O'Neill," said Teal'c.

"Everyone okay?" asked Jack.

"Yes sir." said Sam.

"Ow. Yeah." said Daniel.

"Indeed." said Teal'c.

Jack looked around and said "It's night here."

The Gate shut off, taking it's light with it and casting the area into more gloom.
