Potsdam- *spoiler* maybe...yeah...awesome headmistress

#1 by Xenostatica - Aug 11 2011

(Okay so I was thinking about something, Our lovely and rather interesting headmistress makes everyone wonder what she is really up to so I thought I would write some ideas on the scenarios that lead to several paths... though really *grabby obsessed* and led to me think on this path. )

The headmistress' office was darker then usual. She was sitting at her desk there was someone sitting in the chair opposite then her. Potsdam took a deep breath and let it out in a soft sigh. She wasn't distraught just a little tired. She had been preparing for a good semester but she was receiving signs that it might not be so easy this year.

The person sitting across from her was now clearing their throat, "I know it is a big request to ask you of such things but you do understand that I must look at the future of my family... it isn't a simple task. The boy is stubborn and has a terrible temper. He is still driven by the past and holds himself responsible for a mistake that many have made. Grant it, he lost something important to him but honestly the boy needs to be shaken out of the whole mess, it's been years! I believe at least ten... Potsdam, you understand, don't you? You were the boy's teacher at a time..."

She smiled at him sweetly, her hair bounced softly as she got up and walked to the window to watch the new students scurry to their new homes for the year. She was unorthodox and she knew that. She allowed people to make mistakes and give them a chance to correct them, but the man before her was correct. He had been given a long time to fix the mistake and instead of taking the experience and learning from me, he taken the experience and turned it around, he was a great man of course and very intelligent but he hit away from everyone and it needed to stop. "Lord, you are correct," she said it with a matter of fact voice. "You do understand that the more you push the more he pulls. You can't even bring yourself to apologize but at the same time neither has he... I mean he left his home just to escape you and that is saying a lot, sir." She raised her eyebrow as she noticed one of the new students running, she had been late. Potsdam glanced over at the clock, she was only a few moments late, probably one of the wild seeds... they tended to be late because they were unfamiliar with the structure of the school.

"I understand the situation, ma'am, but surely you know that I am just trying to watch out for him," the man was now adjusting himself in the chair, he had been there far too long to move now and he would be damned if he wouldn't get what he wanted across. "The boy needs to settle down, not just for my sake but his own as well..."

Potsdam allowed him to drone on as she watch the student with curiosity. The girl wasn't looking where she was going and was now running with one hand in her pocket, she was distracted, probably lost and trying to find her assignment paper, she thought and then noticed him walking across the courtyard, his nose was in a book and not paying attention as well. Oh, this will be interesting, she said as she glance over at the man in the chair still speaking, she shook her head, "I understand, I truly do, but what are you expecting me to do? One does not simply make someone marry..." She turned her attention back to the even that was about to happen, that would keep him talking as she watched.

The girl was going full speed ahead and she was still looking in her pockets when he had almost reached her when they collided. Ouch... The student was startled but is now smiling, poor thing. As she seemed to be listening to him speak, Potsdam could see his hat moving so he must be speaking. Suddenly her face was struck with horror and the feeling that he was grinning was very much probable. The unusual thing was the girl was not crying, she actually just seemed annoyed with him, maybe scared of him but she wasn't showing it and now she was making her way to her dorm.

Potsdam raised an eyebrow, that was extremely interesting, normal he made the first years, I think I will keep an eye on her. She might be someone to keep in mind for projects. She turned to the man who finally stopped speaking, "We will set the wheels into motion. It will be up to him in the end if he takes the bait. You do understand in the end it is someone's choice not a forced decision."

The man got up, recognizing that their conversation was at an end, "I appreciate you doing such things for me..."

"I'm sure," she smiled, "Do understand that the school is always in need of benefactors. I could careless about money or favors, the fact is that we need this school for our children."

"Yes, I understand," he put his hat on and left the office.

There was much to do now and it was time for her to go down and introduce herself and get acquaintances with her new little ones.

(Again I would appreciate opinions and knowledge if I should try and continue this like the last story)

The introduction speech went well. The children were all paying attention and seemed to understand all the rules. The truth behind this sentence would be played out through the year though and there was no telling with this crop.

The young one she had noticed earlier was in the horse hall and was a wild seed. She had been right on guessing where she belonged but there was something interesting about this girl. She had a different kind of glow to her and this made for an interesting start to events.

The student initiation would be beginning and though teachers were not allowed to really interfere with it, unless the child was in danger then anything really could go. Potsdam sat quietly away from the children's eyes and noted which senior took who. Her focus was now on Damien who much to her surprise went to the young woman from the horse hall. How unlike him! She stayed silent and watched as the girl refused him in the beginning but when forced down, the girl reacted well, with taking his hand she prevented a scene that could have led to a bad mess.

Potsdam was feeling comfortable with the situation now and it was time to go teach some of her classes. She took her time absorbing the sounds of the children around her and how they seemed happy and comforting. She reached her office in time to have a cup of coffee and a cookie before she rushed off to teach the first classes.

In the first week, this was time of most repetition. Each group heard the same rules and instructions that would help the through each class. She did her best to clear up any confusion that a student would have dealing with a specific magic. She would only give enough to make the student curious but not enough the encourage an unhealthy obsession.

The wild seeds that made the classes interesting, their faces surprised with the reactions they had with the teacher's first demonstration. It is in these classes that the affirmation that there is truly magic around us.

There was a small group from the horse hall that seemed to be grasping things a lot faster then the others around them. Ahh, Potsdam noted that Virginia was from a prominent family, Ellen was a wild seed and Sue, that interesting girl that drew her eyes toward her made her a wonder.

She had come to enjoy the Horse Hall because of the liveliness that comes from their spirit. She would often walk their halls just to enjoy the energy.

She noticed Hieronyous coming away from the dorms area. She made her way to him. "Professor is something wrong?"

Hieronyous grumbled at her a moment, "Had to give back some demerits to one of the students..."

"Oh? You normally don't do such things," she was trying to weasel it out of him, "Let's have a cup of tea and talk of it. Especially since the incident happened in the horse hall."

He followed behind Potsdam, maybe more out of respect then anything else. "Hieronyous we are equals as professors, please walk as equals," she said signaling him to come near her.

"Ma'am, I am far under you yet but I will earn that place soon," he said it kindly, "But for now this is my place."

They reached the office and the coffee was set out. "Sorry sir, it's coffee, I hope you don't mind..." she began pouring two cups.

He sat down grumbling about it being fine and taking the cup once it was offered.

"So?" she said sitting in her chair, "What had taken you to the horse hall that you despise?"

"An incident happened in my class today. A woman had left a letter of confession on my desk, I read it all to the class, when I asked for who did it no one was going to stand but I was wrong, that girl from horse hall..."

"You mean Sue?" she chimed in.

"Yes," he was now twisting a book in his hand, "Sue...stood up and took the responsibility for it. She tried to explain something but I through her out of class for that." He took a sip and made a face of dislike and then put the cup down, "Her senior came and spoke to me. He explained that he like the girl and had wanted to get something from her but that the guys had stolen it and set it up in her class to get her in trouble. The two came to confess so there was nothing else I could do was go and apologize to her. She is an odd one I think... she doesn't react to me like the others. I swear she will be trouble for us..."

"You think on it too much. She is a very important person and I will be interested in who gets attached to her," Potsdam set her empty cup down and chuckled, "You know, she has something special...lets see who gets drawn to her...I suggest you watch yourself Hieronyous you father is on his rampage with who is who and who you should marry and all... so heads up on that situation."

"Thank you for passing that along, I will keep an eye on what he is up to and I will not allow him to take control of me in anyway, good day." He left rather annoyed with the whole situation.

Good, Potsdam smiled as he left, this girl has drawn her attention, but so that demon. He will make a mess of everything though if I use her to get him that would lead us a different path but I am not sure of that set yet so I want to avoid the possibility that Sue would make a choice like that. But it is early. I will watch her closely because she is a beacon and there is a lot of darkness here that need that light. We need to be safe and care with her.

Yay!!!~ You are writing another fanfic! The first one with Grabby and Sue was super awesome and I enjoyed it a lot!! Very Happy This one sounds really interesting too because Potsdam is always so behind-the-scenes with stuff. This is such a cool idea to see what's going on in her head when all the craziness starts. And hurray for another fanfic involving Grabby!

That was great and I would love to read more. I love Potsdam (not nearly as much as grabby... I may have an unnatural obsession with him lol) so this was great. It's always nice to have a back story that can fill in the gaps. Love it!

The initiation went without a hitch. All the students wen through the week without much trouble but it did make for an interesting event but nothing that would really warrant any interruption.

Potsdam sat quietly as she watched through her crystal ball at her desk. It was one of the ways that she was able to have eyes everywhere. She had helpers through out the school but she often like doing things on her own.

There would be much work to cover in this time. The first test was going to be soon and there was much work in checking which students had fulfilled their requirements and which would be worked with and of course there are those in the end that would need to be made to leave.

Potsdam sat quietly as one of the helpers came in.

"Ma'am, the lists of the students are ready for review," the creature was so short that the stacks of scrolls that it was holding were covering it to the point that no one could see the figure at all. It slipped away after leaving the scrolls and said nothing else.

She eyed the scrolls carefully. This would not be a magical task, this was a headmistress' duty and should would go through all the scrolls one by one and determine the events that would occur.

She would meet with Hieronyous about how to set up the dungeons for the first years and then go from there. She chuckled softly as her memories of all her previous exams went through her mind.

She looked over at her list of items that were on her chalkboard. She has much to work on and plans to figure out. The students were rather well taken care of but at times she wondered if they understood everything that was being taught. The sigh escaped her lips as she shook her head as if she was shaking terrible thoughts from her mind. That is the reason that we test them, she dedicated herself to making sure that they were as prepared as any could be. There were things that were going to happen and they would have to work it out for themselves.

She took the first scroll in hand, the seniors were to test first. She smiled as she took a look and noticed it was William's attendance and how much he improved since the movement from the halls, the trouble that would have been terrible dealing with Damien had been worked out well, he had done it on his own and it was wonderful boy and would be a grand wizard once he graduated.

Think this allowed her to relax and she summoned a helper and asked softly for a pot of coffee, it would be a long night but if she had these memories to go on, it would be a wonderful walk down memory lane.

The test scrolls were finished and a week had gone by. The children had signup this period and there had been a queer request from one of the girls. She had wanted a club of students that could play sports without or with magic if the group decided on it. Having the desire of wanting to watch sports as they had been in the other she decided that if they could enough students interested then it would be allowed.

She knew there would be no trouble in this issue as many of the wild seeds would want something of home in their minds and this was fine by her.

The knock at her door snapped her out of her thoughts. "Yes?" she asked as she got up to greet them with respect.

Hieronyous came in quietly and stood by the chair until Potsdam sat down. He seemed annoyed with something, which would be the reason he came in, "I will be holding a study group before the exam..."

Potsdam raised an eyebrow at him, "Really? You want to do a extra class for the students? Does that mean that you are enjoying the students this year?"

He smirked at her, it was not one of kindness but that of plotting, "Why would that be something that you thought? The children this year are in need of extra guidance; and it needs best be a swift and strict discipline. Please, allow me to be the executor of your will in this matter."

Potsdam chuckled softly, he was in need of someone to break the cold and calculated mind set, "I will allow you to do as you feel fit to help the students excel in their magic and skills."

Hieronyous got up and bowed gently and walked out with the grin that would make even the most wicked creature cower away.

Potsdam shook her head and got up to look out onto the court yard. She noticed the students enjoying their afternoon. She glanced over at her desk and noticed that her supplied for the test. She walked over to her desk and gathered the items. It would be time for her to get everything together. The first years would be the easiest as it was their first exam but the seniors would be the most fun to get working. She chuckled to herself as she thought on what little tricks to play.

The study group went well I suppose, Potsdam thought as she walked through the hall. She noted the students wandering to each of their classes. The exam would be this week and the students seem to be rushing around to get to places where they could study, especially the first years as they have no clue to what is going to happen for them. Most of the children actually didn't know what would occur for their exam. It was an honor system but to make sure there was no cheating she would change the layout every year.

She got back to her desk. It was late in the afternoon and she had sat with someone of the third years to help them with transfiguring objects. They would need it of course that was only if that was their specialty. By the third year students knew which colors and elements that they had wanted to study so their exams where honed onto their specific skills, by this time they were well rounded in all colored spells but they all had a specialty and since there weren't many seniors making the exams specific to their skills was easier.

It took a moment but she snapped to. She had been staring at one of the scrolls that was on her desk. She had put it aside to look it over again, actually there was three scrolls. Virgina, Ellen and Sue were all in the small stack. Virginia with her physical attraction would chose red in the end and had been already focused on that class, Potsdam assumed she would continue that all the way through her time at the school, that made it easy. Ellen jumped between blue and white most often and was very proficient at both already, considering she was a wild seed, but that didn't stop her skills or abilities, she was truly gifted. Sue was the odd man out though, the girl was a wild seed and it was not uncommon for them to jump from class to class but this girl grasped all colors rather well, she didn't seem to struggle in any of the colors and even Hieronyous was surprised with her jumping back and forth between them with easy though he would rather her to figure colors and stick to them, but her skills are impress and ... Potsdam smiled at the scroll that she had opened, the girl doesn't mind studying so much... it is rather interesting, she only seems to go to the mall when something is going on for someone else... she is dedicated for a wild seed.

Putting the scrolls down she got up slowly and walked over to her crystal ball and brushed it lightly with the tips of her fingers. The ball extruded a softly white glow and images flickered slowly. It had been rather slow but she was thankful for that because the exams would tire her out a bit.

She grabbed the scrolls and took them to the wall that was covered with a curtain, slowly she rapped against the wall on the other side and head a voice, "Clearance?"

"Potsdam," she said with clear and sharp voice.

"Of course, ma'am" the curtain drew away and she walked through what looked like a portal.

She would be away till morning.

The day of the exams was interesting. Potsdam didn't have many students make it to her when it came to the first years but that was to be expected, they were attempting to use their magic which they hadn't really done unsupervised. Though Heironyous was there for safety purpose he was rather harsh on his grading and though he allowed most students pass it was a barely passing set up.

He grumbled when he came in and dropped off the scrolls that held all of his comments and judgements on the students' performance.

"Well? Did you think they did well?" she asked as she eyed the scrolls carefully.

"What? Read the scrolls everything is in there," he said as he slammed them into the desk.

"Hieronyous, this was their first exam," she tried to sound sad.

"I have too many students who will be in detention," he growled, "They are reckless, that is all grades not just the first years. I think stricter actions will need to be made."

"Really?" she raised an eyebrow at him, "How about we just keep it the way I am doing it now and if they need help we will proved it."

He made a comment and bowed before leaving.

She sighed softly, "That man needs to soften up..." she looked over at the scrolls and then put her head in her arms on the desk and soon fell asleep.

She was woken up by the sound of someone coming in. She stretched and yawned. Looked over at the door and noticed someone standing at the door.

"Yes?" she sharped her glare at the person.

"I've come to see what of progress," the man said the top hat seemed to be the only thing moving as he spoke.

"Lord, you have come at the interesting time, I have a possible person..." she said nonchalantly at him. "But she is still proving herself."

"Oh? And he will accept her? I am sure he has not even looked at the letters I sent him, each having a potential bride, but if there is someone in his life that might explain a lot," he said walking out of the shadows and moving to sit down.

"It is what it is," she said ringing a bell for a helper, "Coffee please..." she glanced over at the man. "Sir?"

"Yes, please, retched stuff but being here for a while you get use to it and need it after a time," he grinned and nodded at the creature. "Why use such things to do your work when there are students that I am sure need punishment and could do..."

"Sir," she did not let him finish, "If one is to work with me it will not be because they have earn discipline, my students should not fear me but respect me as their headmaster. You might assume that fear is something that rules over all but I have evidence that is not always the case and I hold by that. The council might have different thoughts on it but I do no..."

"Forgive me, no disrespect, Madam Potsdam," he bowed in his seat.

The creature came in with a cart and placed it in front of the desk. This allowed the man to reach for the coffee which he did so quickly, Potsdam on the other hand waited for the creature to bring her the coffee. It was slow and careful which to her meant that it cared for her and showed its respect via the care it took.

"Now could you tell me a bit of the woman?" he said sitting back with his coffee.

"Well she has caught his attention and never seems to be intimidated with his temper," she was careful in how she said it, "Her magic skill is interesting as she can do all magical colors and focuses well on everyone of them while be careful with them never allowing one to over power the others, any color she chooses will be interesting, I have a feeling she will make for an interesting addition to our world."

He raise his eyebrow, "What family does she heir from? Surely a woman with such power comes from a truly gifted family!"

"No," she said it simply. "She is of the wild seed which is why he has taken an interest in her, I am sure."

"What?" he got up quickly and spilled the coffee. "You know this family is of the purest..."

"And is dwindling in children and power, introduction of new blood will be good for your family, especially from someone so powerful and not tainted with the old..." she explained.

"That doesn't matter this will destroy the bloodline!" he slammed his fist into her desk.

She stood up and the shadows that were behind her now seemed to engulf her like a black gown, "You will understand right now, Lord, if this woman can break that harden and cold exterior that has been come the shell of your son then so be it and you will not get in the way! One does not just take these steps easily. You of all people should understand what you are asking for since it is partially your fault that he is like this. Take responsibility! You will take a back seat to this situation and will accept the terms that happen. Understand?"

He stumbled back in shock, "You you...." her eyes met his and he suddenly snapped out of it, "I understand. I have asked much of you..." He put his top hat back on and swiftly moved back to the front of of her office and opened the door. "I see why they chose you in the end Potsdam. You have restraint that none of us would have been able to exercise, I applaud your skills and direction, but be careful."

She grinned wickedly at him, "Yes, I am be smiling and bubbly most of the time, Lord, but understand this now. There is a reason that I teach the black magic at this school and this is not a threat but a promise that you go after my people for any reason and you will see what things I am capable of when buttons are pushed."

He left shutting the door quickly.

The creature that had been in the room was now cleaning up the spilled coffee.

"Thank you dear," she said as she plopped back into her seat. She was getting older and displaying power should not be necessary.

She glanced over at the calendar, "it is almost election time... let us see who takes charge." She smiled at herself as she got up to make her rounds.

Yay!! The story so far is awesome! I absolutely adore it. It's kind of like another Grabiner/Sue romance. Very Happy

(LOL. Thanks so much for the kind words... I wanted a back story because we all know Potsdam probably had a hand in the marriage situation. I am playing on her being extremely calculated as you see when you play through the different paths.)

The week began with announcements of class representatives and offices that can be held by the students and what classes were responsible for what in way of student office.

The students with no demerits were the only ones allowed to run. This was done so that those who had earned some could focus on getting those removed rather then be bothered with the balancing of classes, studies, student office and behavior. The students' lives were full time and so this was just a little extra for some.

Potsdam made sure that all people in charge of the students' office received their folders that had instructions with each requirement for each job. She looked over each other them and chuckled. Who would be interested in doing these?

Hieronyous came in, "You called me?"

"Yes," she said with the sweet smile that often calmed the students, "I have your folder for the student treasurers." She held the folders out for him, "I'm glad you agreed to do this again. I hope your officers are as dedicated as you are."

"I did this because none of the other teachers were willing to take the time to do this," he grumbled. "Besides I am up early any way, to handle the detention so I might as well do this."

She raised her eyebrow at him, "Really you should just enjoy this, it is fun to see these little ones grow into great wizards and witches. Even in the end the occasional warlock does great things for our community."

"It doesn't matter, if they survive my semesters here, that is reward enough," he said it as he turned to walk out.

"I assumed that you received the creature?" she asked off-handed and tried to look not so interested. "It is a manus correct?"

He turned slowly and glared at her, "Is nothing a secret from you?"

"Not when it can be dangerous, you know this Hieronyous," she grinned at him, mischief crossed her eyes, "You will be careful. It would be horrible for something to go wrong and students end up in trouble... not that I do not believe in your power but these things can be tricky."

"I am..." he sighed and looked at her with something of a flicker of understanding though it disappeared quickly, "There is no need to concern yourself." He slammed the door behind him.

She looked over at the folders again. Everything in order, she got up and decided to deliver everything herself.

Wednesday was busy and Potsdam noticed that while she walked past the garden it was time to change for the fall celebrations. As she looked over the flowers she saw Donald walking with some friends, he was in need of demerits removed.

"Duckling!" she waved him over to her.

"Yes, Ma'am?" he was curious.

"If you would like to earn some merits, I could use some help with the garden. Also if you have someone in mind to help you, go get them and bring them back so they may help you and they will also gain some merits," she sweet smile seemed to trigger him to grin as well.

"I know someone actually, I will be right back," he said running off.

A few minutes later he returned with Sue, both of them were out of breath but laughing.

"Okay my darlings," she grinned as it was getting interesting, Hieronyous, Damien and now Donald, she was definitely an interesting girl. "We need to pot these beauties and plant new ones. I will return with the new ones just be careful and pot these."

"Yes ma'am," they answered together and slowly they began working on digging around the roots.

She left them and went to the gardener who was ill. This was the only reason she had asked the children to do it. He had told her where to get the new plants.

It took longer then she expected but when she returned to the children they were just finishing potting the last of the plants.

"You two work great as a team," she said with the wheel barrel of the new flowers. "Here are the new ones, I really appreciate this. I will go get you drinks so just go ahead and plant these while I am away."

She watched as they continued to work. They were covered in mud but were enjoying themselves. This was what she enjoyed seeing. The children taking care of the school and having fun. She went to the kitchen and collects a tray with some drinks for all of them.

When she returned both of the kids were standing back and admiring the work they had just finished.

"Here we go lovelies, This looks great!" she handed each of them a glass and grabbed one for herself. "10 merits for each of you! This place is looking perfect for the season now."

They talked about classes and how everything else was going in their lives. When evening came they all returned to their places.

Potsdam sat back in her chair with a sense of satisfaction, Sue was turning out to be a wonderful wild seed, she was everything that Potsdam had fought for. She closed her eyes and thought about the old days.

Her classes were going well when she received the list from one of her helpers. The list was all the names of the children that would be running for offices. She let out a chuckle and shook her head which drew attention from the creature. "It's fine, really... go off and get a snack for yourself," she waved the creature off and looked at the list again.

Sue, you are an amazingly interesting child. You picked treasurer! Ha, so who will help you with this task? She clapped her hands together with glee. This couldn't have gone any better then if she had planned it.

She was careful of checking on events that were happening. The seniors had taken a trip for Cider day. Most of them had stuffed themselves silly but she noticed that Damien had gone this time. This was unusual for him as he did not like being in any other for then as his true form.

She watched him carefully carry a box when he returned. She was rather curious about the whole situation and followed him. He entered the horse hall and tried knocking on one of the doors but no one answer. She grinned to herself, horse hall often at dinner at this time so no one would be there. He pulled out a pen and paper and wrote a note that he attached to the box.

"Hmm..." she eyed him carefully as he walked past her. She had cloaked herself in the shadows.

Potsdam walked over to the box quickly and checked it. With a focus of her energies she could sense the pie and nothing more. Interesting, she thought and looked over to the voices coming.

"Oh a box..." was Ellen talking.

She said until Sue said that she would share because that was what friends do. She nodded slowly and walked away quietly. The horse hall had the most interesting girls at times. Not that the snakes or the butterflies weren't as special, it was just the horses were unique and that made an for a different kind of experience.

She returned to her office to find Minnie was waiting for her.

"Ma'am, I wanted a jump start on the campaign and figured you would be at your office," her smile was radiate, nothing less was expected for a butterfly. They were social creatures and aimed to please.

"Of course, dear, come in and we will work on what you need," Potsdam opened her door and waited for Minnie to go in first and then she closed her door.

They worked late into the night figuring out what was appropriate for a president's campaign.

Potsdam got up a little later then she was use to but it was mainly because Minnie had stay late into the morning want to work on her run. Her helpers had been up for a while now and often did their jobs without her needing to watch over them. In fact, she glanced over at her desk in her room and noticed that there was a fresh pot of coffee waiting for her.

"Thank you," she said softly almost like a prayer.

Once she was dressed and working at her desk she was soon interrupted.

The knock on her door was rapid.

"Yes?" she glanced up as the door open.

"Who does she think she is fooling?" Hieronyous said coming in huffing.

"What is wrong Hieronyous?" she set her stuff aside.

"That wild seed," he said plopping into the chair across from her.

"Sue?" she asked to get clarification.

"Even after I discouraged her, she still decided to run," he used his hands in gesture of annoyance, "William even came in and volunteered to help her..."

Potsdam raise an eyebrow, William now too? "Yes? I have yet to see what the issues is Hieronyous," she said a little tired.

"She complimented me?! She still asked me to help her with the campaign," he said something of smugness hinted in his voice, "She said this was her choice and no one else's so she would prefer to have someone wise and familiar with the process to help her..."

"And this mad you angry how?" she now had her hands clasped before her to hide her smile.

"What is she planning?!" he growled. "I have done nothing been the strictest that I could be with her... and yet she boldly asked me to guide her."

"She respects you, why else would she not? You are her instructor and you were the one who gave her the folder so it is not so odd she would assume that you could be the most informed with this situation," she tried not to sound too pleased with the situation.

He huffed a moment, "Fine... she is the one who chose this. She can not regret this." He got up and left the office quickly.

Potsdam let out a laugh after a few minutes of him being gone. Sue, you brilliant girl! Attract more flies with honey then vinegar... he can not possible keep this up with her surprising him so much.

Curious to know what was going on with Sue now she walked over to the crystal ball and touched it gently. She focused her energy for a moment and the ball flickered.

The image before her became clear:

Virginia had come into the room squealing, "William said you pick Grabby instead of him?! What's up with that? got a crush on grabby?"

"Maybe," Sue said offhandedly.

"What?! He was terrible to you on the first day!"

Potsdam let go of the crystal and walked back to her desk. The wild seed never seemed to stop surprising her! Here was a girl that was constantly being driven away but she respects this man...this was a great sign!

She was going to move on with her plan though it was going to take time and must be executed carefully or someone might get hurt.

I kept smiling throughout your whole update. Learning all of the background information is wonderfully thrilling, especially because we actually played as Sue. Your writing keeps getting better and better. Although I loved your other Grabiner/Sue fanfiction, I think I might like this one more. I will be anxiously waiting for your next post. ^-^

Potsdam spend the evening with Minnie helping her with designs and cheers to go on with for the next days events.

The next day the courtyard was full of students as they were shouting out about what office they were running for and how they would improve the system.

Sue was actually one of the most interesting in her campaign. She hadn't said anything for a while and appeared to be contemplating what it was that she needed to do. Others were getting more attention then her, without warning she let out a shout.

"Free hugs! Vote for me! Treasurer for the Freshman's class!" she had a big grin on her face and her friends were gaping at her as she kept shouting.

Potsdam let out a loud laugh, but it was lost in the noise as the students were rushing up and lining up for the hugs. It was of course the butterflies that were first followed by the falcons.

The face that Sue made in realization of what she had done changed from a sudden panic to a wonderfully sweet smile. She would tell them to vote for her and depending on the person would depend on the manner of her hugs. She was careful not to hurt anyone with wings or unusual forms and then with the regular students she would make sure not to squeeze them to hard.

Hieronyous had come to the court yard, he moved next to Potsdam. "Shameless!? Who thought that would be a great idea?" He hadn't see who it was yet.

"Oh let her be she was working hard to get attention, this worked well, even some of the other candidates are now in line to get hugs from her..." Potsdam smile was so wide her cheeks were starting to ache.

"Remember I am running for treasurer so please vote for me!" Sue's voice was loud and could be heard over the crowd.

His eyes widen in disbelief, "Ugh that child...making a mockery of the whole system."

"How is that any different then anyone kissing babies? Or giving out cupcakes? She found a niche and is now filling it with her attention. You should be proud of her, she is resourceful!" she said as he was now tapping his foot. "Going to go get a hug? It is free!"

He turned to her with disgusted, "You can't be serious?!"

"Why not? I am," Potsdam said with a laugh. "Who knows you could like it? Hugs brighten up the day!"

He took that as his queue and disappeared in the crowds of students, which was no simple fete as he toward over most of the students.

Potsdam shook her head and let out a chuckle.

After the events of the courtyard students would vote the next day to see who made the best impressions on the others.

Each student running for office would give a speech.

Out of respect each one received applaud after they finished.

Holding her breath as Jacob got up and spoke of his family and how he was experienced in such things and how he would make sure everything would be grand and that parties would be unforgettable he got a loud crowd cheer.

Sue came up and talked of holding herself responsible of taking charge of the money and how it should be spend, how everyone shouldn't worry as it would be her job to worry for them and that if they needed to know what was coming up she would be glad to inform them as transparency would be the best and then she spoke of tradition and the importance of making such things memorable for each student was the most important point of her job. When she was finished she curtseyed to the crowd with sent them into a frenzy almost as they cheered for her.

Guess those hugs were memorable enough.

The students were led to each of the designated voting area. The students seemed to be excited and curious to what will the outcomes would be.

Even the teachers were interested in the results.

The count was done by the evening which each teacher took the results to those who won.

It was worth staying in the rooms for the counts for Potsdam. When the freshman's count was finished Hieronyous was given the results. He had read of the being and nodded in agreement and then stopped and let an evil grin spread over his once frowning face.

"I see, I will give her the news myself," he said as he got up.

Potsdam raised an eyebrow at him as he walked past him and glanced over at the paper. Sue had won, he was going to now inform her. She shook her head and left the others to do what was needed to clean everything up.

She was walking past the hall when she noticed Hieronyous making a comment to Sue, "You will have the mail duty from now on at 5 in the morning..."

She nodded and said nothing but her eyes said that something was up with him as she watched him leave. She then shook the thought out of her head and went back into the room.

Potsdam watched with curiosity. Maybe they were growing more on each other then they realized.

She went back to her office to get ready for the next week of school.

(Thanks icekat! I appreciate the sport on this. Sorry about the paying for the net like that, I will do my best to update so you won't be disappointed!)

This was a week before the next exam so her classes were full to the brim with students. Those who had been missing out were now trying to catch up in hopes that her classes weren't the needed spell to pass.

It was actually fun this way as students often asked more questions and even with the somber mood of an exam coming there was a chance for friends to study together and things not understood could come to light.

This week her class went over the proper formalities to those that were not of this world. It was an easy concept that most people had not become familiar with, but seeing that they were freshman she would constantly remind them of this proper etiquette. "em,er,ets, emself, erself..." it was ingrained in her mind and teaching it was like a blink of a second even if to the students it took several periods.

In the hall at one point Potsdam saw Sue with a bit of a frown, "Oh dear, I didn't congratulate you on making into office. I would have to say that I appreciated your campaign and using hugs to spread good feeling. I think 10 merits for being original."

Sue's frown shifted slightly as she curtseyed and nodded, "thank you, Professor, I appreciate you thinking I can do this."

Potsdam grinned at her and waved her off and continued her rounds to make sure that students were doing well and didn't need anything. At one point the students invited her to tea and a impromptu study group. She did take some time with them. She enjoyed enlightening them as long as they were willing to try themselves first.

The week was uneventful for Potsdam or at least she thought that before she entered into her office.

Something had been there. She swiftly shifted in and out of the shadows of her office. A single puff of smoke appeared in the middle of the room. There before her was a magical rose with a wasp clamping it with a stinger through it.

"Hoohohooo! So someone has informed the original members that it was time for new blood huh? This was my signal from one of their older members that this tradition would continue huh? I wonder would could possibly be seduced by their promises," Potsdam ran her fingers through the illusion that distorted a moment and then returned. Even an old member myself was never at full knowledge of who and when something would occur. My my clever ones this year hopefully there won't be as much damage or trouble as last time. Double edged sword.

The week dragged on since the test was already set up, even Potsdam was curious to see how these puzzles were solved.

Potsdam was actually interested with the results of the exam because Sue had not only not completed the exam she had detention with Hieronyious. No one else had tried what she did and it seemed to have pissed him off enough to make him stay there with her.

She was grinning when she returned to her office, even with the pile of scrolls to look over, what was in store for Sue seemed that it would be in terrible taste. This of course would make her want to watch what was going to happen.

She had assumed that Sue did it on purpose because she had all the skills to complete the exam. Maybe something more to happen?

Potsdam decided that watching from her crystal ball with a cup of coffee in hand she watched as Sue completed her mail duties, in fact she had gotten up extra early to do so. This made her wonder if this was something that Sue had been planning for.

She went to the detention room had her waiting for him to come in, Donald came in and was soon chased off with his duties. Hieronyous turned his attention to Sue, "We will be having you..."

Sue raised her had, "We can do this another way...."

"Oh?" he raised an eyebrow. "what could possibly teach you about the pain of death other then writing it out in different scenarios?"

"Actually a spanking? corporal punishment? this way you and I are not wasting our time being here..."

Potsdam crackup laughing, she is asking him to spank her?! Well now that makes for an interesting situation.

"They did this kind of punishment while I was in school though it had a different effect on students,' he sat there listening to her.

"It is better then the alternative," Sue shrugged her shoulders.

"Then let us fulfill this childish request for you then," he got up from his chair and moved out of her view behind her. "I am sure you are familiar with this position since you suggested it, but palms on table and legs are to be apart..."

Potsdam was getting uncomfortable for a moment and the clicked at what wicked deed he was going to do.

Sue looked uncomfortable as she had braised herself and there was nothing, suddenly the sound of impact hit. Her face showed signs of pain but she said nothing, it took two more times for to cry out. When she did so he appeared before her and the beating continued.

"This pain that you are having is no way the same pain you will feel once your health is depleted and your light is burnt out, there is no second chance after that. Understand?"

Sue looked at him in an honest understanding and extremely embarrassed face, "Yes, i do understand now sir..."

The spanking continued until he left.

Sue slipped to the floor, her face was bright red with shock but flushed with something else other then embarrassment. She let out a sigh...

Potsdam let out a loud laugh, the poor girl. They are a match, would have never thought he would dare fulfill a fantasy for a girl like that. Not exactly what she would have wanted but fulfilled none the less.

This made her day! Plotting and planning and they are all making it easier for her to complete these missions.

Potsdam noticed that the Dark dance was going going to be soon. She would have to contact her usual friends and set it up so that the children could enjoy one of the many traditions that witches enjoy through the ages.

She went through the ceremony of cleansing herself and selected the robes carefully. The helpers brushed and styled her hair as she made herself up. They would require her to look her best for the meeting.

She got up after completing her ritual she went to her office. The crystal ball glowed with a soft orange as her helpers closed the curtain making sure that there was no other light source.

"Headmistress Potsdam," the voice said from one of the corners of darkness.

"Ah my dear friend," she said carefully as not to speak es name but acknowledge em there. "It is that time of year again."

"When the nights are longer and the days are shorter, when the people remember the old lore and science can not explain everything," et said as et appeared to be sitting before Potsdam in one of the chairs.

"Yes, the good old days are too far away now, but at least we have ways of still honoring those times even now," she said with a smile even if she couldn't tell if it was looking at her she could still be pleasant.

"It is a great honor for you to host such things here so that we are not forgotten," et seemed pleased with their situation.

"Yes, we will keep to our continued agreement then? These are children and they are not so familiar with our contracts with your spirits," she said softly.

The orange glow flickered harsh for a moment but then returned to the softens again.

"Yes, of course, we can not put those that honor our pact in true danger," et said sounding amused. "I honor it with our existence here on your land. Though if one is to break..."

She sighed at the idea of it, "My friend, if a child does such a thing you can cast them into a darkness but nothing that could last long, please. Understand that we have a system of discipline here so please nothing extreme..."

"My friend," et seemed almost pleased with etself. "Nothing of true pain, I believe what you call a black out and a headache is enough..."

She frowned at the thought of the children hurting but this was a simple fix to a rather dangerous situation, "Yes I agree to this."

"DEAL!" et flashed out and the curtain flew open.

She looked over at her crystal ball and noticed that the glow was a soft blue again. She let out a relief sigh and sat back in her chair, another year and another bargain. The children should enjoy this dance.

Minnie was sitting before for Potsdam. She seemed rather nervous.

"So this is the dance my parents had been talking about right?" she said her hands twisting her robe as she was trying to understand everything. Minnie's family were prominent witches and their blood line was rich with knowledge and everyone of those children were informed about everything in history of witchcraft.

"yes, you are well informed with this," Potsdam smiled. "You are one of the ones that will be taking care of actual planning so you will need to inform Sue about the cost of everything."

"Oh yes, of course," Minnie smiled softly, she hadn't thought about that. "I will do it now so that I don't behind on the planning." She got up curtsey and left the office.

Potsdam smiled as she left. That girl had a lot on her plate and her taking on being the president for the freshman class was just another dose. She shook her head, butterflies always had to be social and outgoing.

She went out, it was time for some of her upper division classes and they would be wanting to know about the dance.

When the dance arrived the students were herded into the designated area for the actual party. It was a late dance as the spirits had only certain times that they would be available so the students would be allotted to have the next day to recover, most would need it because the social experience would be draining.

"Professor," something in the shadows spoke softly, "Wonderful set up for us, I hope the students will enjoy this."

"Of course," she bowed a little. "Some of these children have never experienced this so this is great."

Hieronyous came up beside her, she felt like he was grinning a little.

"Hieronyous, are you enjoying yourself?" she asked with a smirk.

"Just waiting for someone to mess up," he answered smugly.

"Oh, I don't think corporal punishment would be necessary for this event do you? I mean Sue was one of the ones who helped to make all this happen, I do not think she would be foolish enough to mess this event up," she could feel him shift his weight a moment,.

"What makes you think that it would be that wild seed that I thought would mess up?" he seemed a bit stand offish now.

"No worries, no complaints were made, I just assumed when I saw her the other day after her detention she seemed a bit more flustered then usual," she was whispering to him now. "I am assumed that if there was anything wrong she would have told me."

"You are correct," he sniffed his answer at her. "Nothing was done that wasn't asked for."

"Ah so we are doing requests now?" she couldn't fight a chuckle for a moment, "I didn't know you were so willing to please...." she stopped as she noticed an energy change and ran to the area it happened.

Hieronyous was beside her, "Ah, sir come with us."

She noticed that Sue was shifting uncomfortably for a moment as the spirit that she had been dancing with was extremely close.

Hieronyous leaned over to Potsdam, "I can take care of this student, I will take him to the nurse, and give a good lecture, nothing more."

"Thank you, dear," she got up slowly and moved closer to where Sue and Ellen were near each other. Not that they would have really noticed but they were surrounded with more spirits then the other students.

Sue flicked for a moment with energy but soon calmed down. This actually made it worse as she had displayed a power of extreme control and this was attract to those around them.

Suddenly the sound of the school bells chimed. The signal that the dance was soon to be over. She shook her head a moment, had it been over that quickly? She looked over to where the main shadow was standing and walked over to em.

"Potsdam, this crop is a wonderful addition to this school, other then the foolish 2nd year that thought it would be funny to play a trick, it was grand," et stopped a moment and shifted. "That girl is fascinating a gem that if not taught and snatched up will soon glimmer so bright no creature, human or not will be able to resist her..."

Potsdam raised an eyebrow, "You mean the girl that flickered earlier?"

"Of course, she was wise, she could have attempted to see us but thought better of it, maybe not wanting punishment? No, it was something like she wanted to believe in us," et seemed to be tasting the lat bit of words that it spoke.

"Dangerous language, my friend," she hissed it softly. "She is inexperienced.
The girl is a first year..."

"And she would sacrifice herself for something if she believed in it," the shadow flickered in and out. "That would be a key to get her..." et was now flickering in and out as the bells sounded for a 2nd time. "Maybe connector her to someone or thing..."

The lights soon came up and the students were gathering together to talk of their experiences.

Ellen, Virginia and Sue were together:

"I barely got to enjoy anyone..." Virginia spouted out in defeat.

"I wasn't either and then I noticed that Sue was surrounded so I went over to her side they seemed to notice me..." Ellen commented on the situation.

So they had noticed the attention that Sue was getting.

"It wasn't my fault," she said soberly, their whispers and conversations were fascinating. Then when I felt something making me uncomfortable it was like they sense something about be and started to swarm me in excitement. Once I calmed down I felt like this was all party of something truly important and needed to be able to finish the tradition. I am just unfocused now... feeling exhausted....like something was feeding off of my..." she laughed it off nervously.

They all went back to their dorms. The adults were desperate to clear everything out of the hall so that there would be nothing to do the rest of the day.

Potsdam had been worried about what the shadow had said about the girl. She could draw other creatures to her; Donald, William, Damien, Ellen Virginia, Minnie even seeks her out and the one in the lead right now was Hieronyous whether or not he means to be but he has taken top so far with her experiences he has been playing a role close to the dominating figure for her.

She had enjoyed his reaction and making sure that she had asked for it and nothing more. She cackled out lot. There was a letter waiting for her at her desk. It would have to wait for latter, she yawned and stare at it with fuzzy focus. No more new till tomorrow.

Thank you for being so kind about my writing!

November, Potsdam thought as she looked through paperwork from the council. This was the time that all the students are thinking of the holidays and not really focusing on school and December would be worse.

She got up and tapped her finger tips on the crystal ball. She was curious about what students were up to. It had been rather quiet lately. The dance had gone on without a hitch and this actually worried her a little bit. Even in the normal world when things didn't happen it meant that something was going to be happening soon and usually the longer the quietness of events the more like it would be big.

The ball had gone a deep purple. She could see Damien, he seemed to be following something. He was careful and silent. That was very unlike someone of the falcon hall, they were flashy and enjoyed attention. He was up to something.

She followed his gaze and noticed Sue, Ellen and Virginia together. Ellen looked rather upset and they had just entered their dorm.

He had come close to the door and was listening. He cursed softly and disappeared into the group of girls walking down the hall. They didn't seem to notice him at all.

She noted his behavior and returned to her desk when there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," she said putting a smile on her rather worried face.

The man came in he was extravagantly dressed. "I assume that your plans are working right now? The school has been well funded lately and I heard that you had a wonderful Dark Dance..." he did not wait for her to offer the seat, he walked over and took it. "Can't be here too long, you do understand."

"Of course, Lord, what brings you to my humble school?"

"To inform you that my son has come into possession of a family item..." he stopped a moment and grinned evilly. "It might be too much for him but he earned it fair and square so I have no say in what he does with it but I wish to warn you of it as it is rather powerful...even for us older ones."

She raised an eyebrow, "Really? He has said nothing to me yet..." she put a finger to her lips and thought on it for a moment.

"Oh he will I assume that him being a loyal follower he will inform you of the danger that is apparent with this creature," he said as a grin curled around his lips.

"Why tell me? If you know for a fact that he will be coming here? You risk exposure coming in person," she met his grin with a smirk.

"It's a game, one of us will get tired of this and will break down, by this act I assume that I am the one who actually has broke and have since been writing him constantly," he eyed her carefully. "I tell you as a concern as a parent. He maybe a grown man but he still has the heart of a child in many ways, my fault really."

She cover her amused looked with clasping her hands before her face, "Of course, I appreciate your honesty. I will of course watch over one of my professors. There aren't many like him and he is good at..." she paused a moment and chuckled, "keeping the students in line, whether it is the nitty gritty or from afar he is well educated."

"The best of course," the man sniffed with pride. "I will leave you..." He got up and didn't even leave the room when he disappeared.

"That man..." she sighed and got up.

The students...Damien worried her... Dueling. Yes this would be a must of any student or witch and wizard they must be able to defeat oneself.

Potsdam had become more aware of keeping tabs on Damien. He was a danger to others around him. Her helpers were keeping tabs on him.

She figured that she needed to clue the students on the other world and now that they were aware of such things because of the Dark Dance, she was able to go into better detail. So even in her eldest students she gave them the speech.

"This world is a fascinating place..." she wasn't going to lie to them about a place that was fascinating and wondrous to many of them. She had to be clear and honest, the best way to teach and avoid any curious misfortunes it was best to explain all things including the worst of it.

She had been thorough with the explanation so when she saw Damien talking to Sue, she hid away from them.

This girl liked playing with fire and what was worse is she didn't know how to put it out. She shook her head as she walked away from the scene.

Potsdam spend the rest of the week entertaining the students with information of the other world and things that could lead one there by accident.

When the weekend came she chose to check on Sue.

The crystal ball glowered before her as the scene spilled out. The girls were trying to comfort their dear friend as she found out terrible news about her parents. The thing that made her sigh with relief Sue had choice her friend over Damien.

Friendship was far more important then the chance of losing everything, she thought as she let the ball go. She would just fulfill her duties today and be completely satisfied with the events as they unfolded.

On the next day she received a knock at her door.

"Enter," she was dusting her shelves.

Hieronyous came in quietly and took a seat, "It is interesting that you chose to do that on your own when you have helpers that are meant to complete these menial tasks for you so that you are able to do other things."

She stopped and went to her desk and sat down, "Surely you have not come to lecture me on what is precious for my time and what is not..."

He shook his head, "I have not. Here is the list of items from what the students are needing for the fund raiser." He placed the paper before but hesitated for a moment.

"Something wrong?" she asked as she took the paper.

"A manus has been handed down to me," he said it carefully. "A creature that is bound to my bloodline. It was not a simple task to obtain, Potsdam and I have come to ask if it would be alright to work with it here... I will take all precautions and protections so that no one will be in danger but I would like to study it and gain as much as I can from this unusual event."

She let out a sigh and thought a moment, this was not exactly what she was expecting Manus could be extremely dangerous, his father had been right to come and warn her. "I will allow it if you do it in a spot that I have designated for you," she explained carefully. "This way if you fail to contain it the wards that I have placed up will guaranteed that no one is harmed."

He was taken back with this and smiled, "Yes, of course, I will undeniably agree to this. It is better to keep a second hand in this anyway." He got up and walked out content with this situation.

Potsdam took a breath and sat back in her chair and then suddenly got a burst of energy. No reason to sit there and sulk, time to clean and get ready!

The day for the dueling class got many of the freshman overly excited.

Potsdam had teamed up Sue and Donald together as Sue has some sense and might prevent him from doing anything dangerous.

Her and the other teachers had their hands full with students making other float or trying to turn them into animals.

Donald in a blink of an eye had suddenly cast a large dragon behind Sue.

Potsdam dispelled it quickly and ran over to scold the talented young man.

"Sir, I believe I said not to do spells that could have been too dangerous," she had started.

Sue chimed in quickly "I knew he was going to do something, he told me he was ..."

"Sue..." she tried not to grin. "Well both of you will have detention and maybe you will work together to surprise us again..." she winked at them and rushed off to save one of the other students.

The evening was rather silent as most of the students had tired themselves out trying to out duel each other.

She stretched out on her bed after a hot bath and laid there enjoying the silence. Her mind wondered back on to Sue. That girl was something else. She had not expected this horse to be so wild, she was a mare who could have been compared to a mustang. She had managed to catch some important eyes and they all seem to be following after her.

There had been commotion in the Falcon hall as Sue being her kind self let Damien know about her detention. She had began rumors and glares from some serious people.

Potsdam watched from a far, this was definitely interesting. The thing that was even more appealing was the conversation between her and Donald. This girl had a way with creating a aura around her, she grinned at the crystal ball. She would wait before getting into the mess with Sue and Damien.

This week was a play. The students seemed to fill the auditorium as it was something to do and not on a weekend. It was a tragic story but it seemed everyone seemed to enjoy it.

The conversations were all fun to listen to. Ellen and Sue's conversation about revenge and love had caught some people's ears. Potsdam grinned softly at the people who had noticed.

"Ah, she will be introduced into something interesting now," she walked away returning to her office. The fundraiser was this weekend and she needed to be ready for anything.

The weekend had come faster then she realized and as she helped the students get everything together she heard as Sue and Minnie talk about what was going to happen for that evening.

Interesting, she thought as she noticed that Minnie had handed everything over to Sue, they were suppose to have worked together in shifts... she raised an eyebrow at the whole situation but let it slide.

She stayed silent as she notice Damien getting on the bus as well. He would be in for a surprise, she grinned as the bus left.

Humming to herself she left as the bus disappeared into the horizon.

It was late when she received a knock at the door.

"Hmm?" she said loudly not looking up from her papers. "What is wrong, Hieronyous?"

He seemed unsure of what had just happened.

"It's fine, I had a feeling you would come here, it is later then usual," she said looking over at the clock on the wall.

"That is what I came to talk to you about," he sat down and rubbed his temple with his left hand. "There was a situation, Ms. Sue seemed to think that she could handle several shifts on her own... I took her to have a tea at Glen so that she could recover easier tomorrow."

Potsdam grinned, "First requests and now helping with health problems, why it seems you have become slightly softer, Hieronyous. Almost considerate of the students feelings towards you. No worries, I have nothing to say to it, I appreciate you telling me thought."

He left looking rather annoyed. He must of felt guilty because there was no snappy remark back at what she had said it was just acceptance.

Hmm... she stayed up finishing the paperwork.

There was a ruckus in the horse hall when Potsdam was going on her walk through.

"What game do you think you are play?" he growled at Sue.

"I don't know... I..." she look flustered as people were gathering.

"I saw you, you will not make a fool of me anymore!" he hissed as he walked away from her.

Sue stood there flabbergasted with the whole situation. She was completely clueless to what had happened.

Potsdam grinned to herself and walked the other direction so it was not known that she had overheard everything.

Hieronyous had done her a favor and hadn't even realized it. Damien wouldn't bother with her now, and thus she is out of danger from him. She watched as students passed her.

Now what to do to keep her word with those two?

Potsdam smiled softly as she went on patrolling the halls. To get them together will take work, though they seem to have a fondness for each other already. He makes the whole thing difficult.

She sighed and returned to her room after the evening events. It would take some heavy plotting to get this to run smoothly.

Potsdam noticed that it was rather early in the morning and there were several teachers in one of the class rooms. She noticed each of them had a money box before them. Her mind clicked with the realization that the fundraising had finally ended and they were counting out how much each class had made.

"Ha!" said the professor in the corner said with a grin. "We doubled what we originally spent!"

"Yeah but you had a lot of leftovers," another teacher joked.

"Like you can talk!" a third chimed in. "You did a raffle that did okay but you guys only got your money back! While mine did great with the cookies and there was so only enough cookies left to share with the classes."

Hieronyous was sitting quietly in the corner and was still counting while the others were laughing and enjoying themselves.

Potsdam noticed his smirk widen with each comment the others made comments. "What is that, Hieronyous?"

He raise a brow as he looked over at her, "Hmm?"

The others looked at him, "Well? You said nothing yet...."

"Well seeing that many of you still had a lot of waste left, your profits were not really profits they were more of you putting back your money into the coffers that your students started with," he explained calmly as he closed the box. "Waste not want not..."

"Oh come on professor..." the one in the corner said with a laugh, "most of the children don't do a great profit, maybe some but not much...."

"Before you are two pink peppermint candles," he point to one of the desk. "This was the idea of our treasurer...for the freshman."

"Oh cause candles are original!" they said with a laugh. "And the mints are used so often we are sure that everyone is tired of it."

"I thought the same, but pink and peppermint? the treasurer is not exactly a social butterfly," he chuckled at the thought for a moment, "But pink and peppermint are usually combined..."

"Brilliant," Potsdam said with a laugh. "Pink the symbol often of first loves, soft love, sweet, kindness, gentleness... peppermint deals with relaxation, pondering, thought.... helps with tummy problems, sometimes headaches... during the holidays we deal with all this. She targeted a specific audience..."

"An audience that often shops," he said. "Those two are the only ones left..." he shifted in his chair. "And because the students..."

"Because she actually made them they had a tenderness to them, it even seems to radiate in here," Potsdam said with a grin and she looked over at the other teachers there. "I'll take the last two candles and that makes the freshman class completely sold out of the candles that were made." She took her coin purse out and laid out the money before Hieronyous.

"i hadn't known that she had been one of the ones..." he eyed the candles careful and took the money from her, he made change for her and handed back. "interesting."

Potsdam grinned, "Indeed." She smiled at the other teachers, "Does anyone else have leftovers so that I may donate to the other classes." They all got up quickly to give her what she had asked for. To show no favoritism she bought from all the classes or donated.

Minnie had come in soon after most of the teachers left. She waited quietly and when Hieronyous was finished putting everything away she walked over to him.

Potsdam watched with curiosity.

"Sir, I came to check to see how we did, I was worried about Sue and..." Minnie seemed to stop for a moment, "Well it was hard for her to have worked the whole time, I know that she would have done everything to make this a great fundraiser..."

He pondered what she was saying a moment, "The sell was well. We sold everything so I would say it was extremely successful. Do not worry Ms. Minnie, Ms. Sue had a very good insight about what everyone seemed to be want for the holidays." He then returned back to collecting his books and items. "It was impressive..."

"Oh that is great sir!" Minnie was excited. "I'm sure she would like to know."

"no, it is fine," he said suddenly. "there is no need to inform her. once she gets the money box she will know how successful it was."

Minnie's smile changed to a little frown, "Oh I seem. No worries sir I'll say nothing..." she was making her way out of the room and stopped at the desk Potsdam was sitting at. "madam, it is good to see you."

"It was very responsible of you to check on the status of the fundraiser," Potsdam said with a smile and nod. "I would give you merits, but you really don't need them as you maxed them out already."

Minnie blushed at the compliment, "Thank you Ma'am. The announcements?"

"Tomorrow before you all leave," Potsdam said with a smile, "No worries my dear. Go have fun."

Potsdam left the room after Minnie. She was curious to know if the young woman would keep her word with the professor. She seemed more willing to please then to worry on judgement of others, but that was just how Potsdam perceived her at the moment.

Potsdam watched the girl walk down the hall. She was going back to her dorm and didn't seemed in any manner deviating from that path. She assumed the girl would say something later on anyway. Away from eavesdroppers so it might be an opportunity taken later on.

She made her way to the classroom. Students needed someone to teach and they weren't going to do that themselves.

Potsdam had the late afternoon off, the Seniors had asked for that time to study, they already knew that there would be a test on Dec 1 when they returned and asked for some study time. She obligate them willingly. So this left her alone in her office.

With an interest in both Minnie and Sue, she took a peek at her crystal ball. Ah, she thought as she saw the two girls talking outside of the gym.

Minnie had run up to Sue's group and pulled her away from them. She was excited and grinning when she had Sue by the hand. She pulled her close, no one thought anything of it as it was the president talking to the treasurer so this would seem normal if they had to plan something.

Sue seemed clueless to all of it and was unsure of Minnie bring attention to her. Though she was wild and adventurous, the girl was actually rather shy in certain situations.

"I just wanted to let you know that Grabiner had said you did an excellent job with the fundraiser," Minnie said with a triumphant laugh. "I figured he wouldn't tell you, but I just thought you deserved to know the truth."

Sue blinked at her in surprise, "Oh thank you for telling me, I appreciate knowing I did good."

Minnie nodded and took off.

Sue's friends came over and were probing her for information. She would rebuff them by saying it was just officers stuff.

Potsdam let out a laugh. That is interesting, she rubbed her chin as she returned to her desk and was looking over the plans for the exams. The girl was more interested in keeping her "friend" close and so broke the word she gave to someone else. This could be used. She was a good student and her heart was in the right place, it was just she wasn't quite at a level of understanding of what a little slip up like that could do.

She studied the layout a few hours before she took her dinner in her room so that she could rest before the blessing the next day.

The students seemed excited that it would be their holiday break and that they could get away from the school for a while. There were a few students that would spend the holiday here or make plans to go with other students to their homes.

She did a cleansing ritual in the morning. She would have to clear her senses and focus on what was wanted from the spell. She had many students and to make sure that everyone was able to receive the blessings she would have to see them all and with the clarity of her third eye. She thought of happiness and the joy of holidays.

When it was time for assembly all the students were lined up neatly in rows. They would stand the whole time she spoke of what was expected from them.

She did this every time the students left the school, but she couldn't help it she would rather lecture them then have something happen and the student not return because of her not warning them. She didn't like didn't like lecturing them on the importance of keeping their promise and how it was important that they remembered that consequences would happen if they broke the rules.

She did so enjoy seeing everyone's face when she stood before them. She held her hands up and concentrated. When she opened her eyes she could see the warmth from some students radiate and from others, the ones not use to this, were surprised as the blessing washed over them.

She nodded and wished them great holidays and then left the lectern. She would need to rest after she all the students off. It was a taxing thing that she did every time but there was a joy she felt when everything was said and done.

She made her way back to her office after she saw off the last of the students. She flopped onto her bed and let out a soft sigh. She was exhausted and this small break would give her enough time to recover. She changed for bed and didn't even bother with her dinner. She crawled in to the bed under the covers and closed her eyes.

She would take the next day to recover, staying in her room and thinking on nothing but getting completely better.

On thanksgiving, she spent it with a simple turkey dinner with the students that were left at the school. She would make them laugh and cry and forget that they were even at school. This would allow them to forget for a moment that they had ever felt loneliness. She would grin and laugh as well. She needed them as much as they needed her.

The first day back to routine was a wonderful sight. Students returned and they all seemed to be a good day for them. It was a matter of them getting back to what now was becoming familiar.

Potsdam was in a good mood. All the children returned this time. It put her in a great mood.

She was ready. The exam was completely set up for the next. There was a slight pleasure in the fact that the freshmen would not a have the slightest clue that there would an exam.

It was actually a good test. With this they would actually become creative about how to solve the problem that was going to happen.

In the evening, she listened as the students went on rambling about the exam for the next day and how unexpected that it was. Many worried that they would mess up terribly and get demerits. Leave it to them to worry on the small issues when the true issue is learning the application of their skills in the real world.

She chuckled as she went off to bed. She would need the rest as the students would probably have an interesting time with this exam.

Xenostatica

#38 by Xenostatica - Aug 22 2011

The exam was the usual for the seniors. Focused on their specific skills that they had selected to finish off their time at school. The others seemed to focus over several things that were focus of student for most of the students, but the freshman class had an interesting maze to find their way through. It could be solved with several spells but it depended on what outcome they were wanting for them to get through it.

This was one of those exams that many of the students would make it through. It was not dangerous, of course, if one would miscast then there might be an issue and the student could end up in detention for turning a simple maze into a war zone.

Potsdam laughed softly as she watched students work through their problems as the maze changed with each student, kind of catering to the skills that they had been focused on.

Most of the students went through without an issue but she did notice that Ellen seemed to have caused a slight uproar with Hieronyous. She would allow him to handle it, nothing bad could truly come from him actually handling it himself.

Potsdam watched with interested and listened with intent the next few days as she had received another notice from the Rose and Wasp that there would be initiations going on. She would watch closely as in honesty the students that were part of this group didn't really cause too much trouble. Every now and then there would be something done that would cause an uproar but in the end it would be cleared up and punishment would be dealt with.

She sat back and would intervene when necessary, this most often was a prank or something like a rumor happening.

Sue had caught their eye before but Potsdam also knew that Ellen had also brought interests on to herself as well. She would keep herself alert to anything truly out of the ordinary.

Potsdam chuckled softly has she had to get the personal item back. She knocked on the door. "Sue?"

Sue seemed rather embarrassed but answered, "Yes, Ma'am?"

"Your personal item," she handed the item back to the flushed girl. "It's alright dear no harm..."

"I appreciate that... thank you," Sue smiled weakly and closed the door after the item was given back.

Poor girl, hasn't gotten a break with much for being her first year, Potsdam thought as she returned to her duties.

She returned to her office after the dinner was served and everyone was left to their own devices. She noticed that Christmas would be soon. She would set up a secret Santa.

Yes, that would be pleasant, she smiled at the calendar. That would make them feel like there hasn't been much change to their situation. Some students will go home for the holidays but this way their friends could share with the gift giving and celebrate before returning home.

Excellent.

Xenostatica

The day of the name pulling for the Secret Santa names needed to be planned out carefully.

Potsdam stared at the list of names that the helpers had written out in script on parchment papers. She eyed them carefully, how could she make it so that the students would be able to get someone they knew?

She could hear students running past talking about the number system for the school. Why was it that there were three students in some and only two in others? It made no sense to them.

That's it!

She carefully wove a spell that followed her dorm assignments. The students would get their room mates. This easy solution would allow the people not to stress on who they got or what they have to get.

Clapping in happiness, she collected all the names and divided them up into the separate classes. This way it would look random. She then placed them into the different bowls for students to pull the names from.

The day of pulling the names all the students seemed to be really nervous but super excited that they would be doing this simple ritual.

Everyone pulled the names and then tucked them away so that they wouldn't be found out. She did notice that some of the toads actually ate the paper that had their secret person on it.

It was not unusual for them to do such odd things but it was out of the ordinary that they would do it before the other students. This led to people whisper and talk about the reactions to their planning so no one would know who they got.

The rest of the day was left for the students to ponder on who they got and what they would be going shopping for.

Classes continued as usual. It was a rather calm time for the students. They seemed to be in holiday mode already so taking it easy as they got ready for their trip on Saturday.

The snow storm had come in the night.

Potsdam had been up watching it when there was a knock on her door. Hieronyous came in quietly.

"It is a nice sight," he said softly watching the window with her.

"Yes, it will be, but the students aren't going to be too happy with this," she said returning to her desk. "It would be too dangerous to risk allowing the students to go... oh well..."

"I will make the proper arrangements," he said turning to leave.

"Hieronyous, be nice about it, they will be disappointed even if it is beautiful to see, they so wanted to share this holiday with their friends," she said as he was opening the door.

He scoffed softly and nodded an answer as he left.

She shook her head, that boy needs to be warmed up. He needs to know that there are others that care about him and that happiness is not unattainable.

OH! She got up and went to her bookshelf and pulled out a large, dark blue, leather bound book, the edges of pages are covered with gold leaf and the pages were hand written instead of printed. Painting covered the pages with beautiful animals that formed the letters that would lead into spells.

Where was it? she flipped through the pages slowly trying not to bend or crease the extremely worn parchment. She noticed there was a weaved bookmark holding a single spot.

She slowly opened to that page and grinned evilly as she recognized the spell that she had been searching for. Leave it to the others to mark it for me so that I can complete my duties.

The spell was truly a lovely weaving of kindness, friendship, and love. She notice it would take a few days to complete the spell to be so large. It would be disguised as a gift to all students even though a lot of the power would be focused on someone specific.

She rang a bell that was sitting on her desk.

Soon a small feeble creature appeared before her. It appeared to be struggling just to stand before her.

"I'm sorry my dear friend," she said as she poured some tea from a kettle that was set over the fire at the back of her office. She brought the creature a small cup that appeared to be designed for it. "Here, for your to warm your bones."

The creature nodded as it took the cup and sipped of it slowly. Carefully, it slowly lowered itself on the edge of her desk and allowed its feet to swing off the end.

"I know this is your time to be hibernating and your age changes when the weather changes so asking for your help right now is a lot of trouble," she explained quietly.

The creature put down the cup and though it had no mouth she could feel as if it was smiling at her. It put a finger to where its mouth should be and then she could sense something meeting her in another plane, "I do understand old friend that if you have called out to me there is something important to the request. I do not hesitate to help the person who saved me as a child. See that you have the book before you and to the page of a rather extensive spell I am sure you are needing both ingredients and energies..."

She chuckled softly, "You know me all too well, my friend. You owe me nothing. You were of the lore of my people and so being able to help you allowed me to fulfill a dream. I simply turn to you because the spell is something that is often done in summer and as you are a spirit of summer, you could guide me."

It nodded slowly as it pondered something, "It is true," it now seemed to becoming youthful and hopped to its feet and walked over to the book and eyed the spell carefully. "Powerful, a resonating and directed spell. This is suppose to guide ones true feelings... what?"

"The students, a gift, so that they can bless someone themselves," she said as she watched the creature as it seemed to be crawling on the book to get a better look.

"You have something else in mind, Friend," it said wisely as it was now standing back and admiring the craftsmanship.

"You are right, there is more to it, but I speak nothing of it or I could jinx it," she said now leaning on her hands over the book.

"Interesting," it turned away and walked off the desk. "You will tell me when it works correct?"

"Of course, you should always know the results!" she said as if shock she would hide something like that from such a spirit.

"Then I will guide you and we will do this," it laughter seemed to roll with the wind outside her window.

She watched as the snow continued. This was excellent. This should give a little more of a push to something that was already started.

Potsdam was up up early and was wondering through the school getting all kind of magazines. She was rushing through the library and the halls and checking the recycling that was left. After getting as much as she could she then began collecting colored paper. She then went to the art labs and collected several boxes of supplies.

Everything was taken to the gym so that when all the children were brought in they could work in a space that allowed them to make a mess.

Classes were cancelled and the students came in with curious faces.

Her grinning smile was there waiting for them. She was tired but she was not going to let that stop her from having fun with the children.

"We will be making cards since we were not able to go shopping because of the weather," she said as she revealed the magazine and boxes of craft items and paper.

Everyone went up in a good orderly manner. The student took a magazine that fit their fancy with paper, scissors, colors, pencils and assortment of other items.

The choices made her laugh as she watched the students cutting and pasting.

The butterfly hall often used lots of items that made sparkles or grabbed attention. It wasn't unusual for them to kiss the card with lipstick or spray a little bit of perfume onto the finished work.

The snakes, often wrote item what looked like poems or schematics, she wasn't too sure as she wasn't close enough to tell what it was that were on the cards. To say the least they were a bit unorthodox.

The horses were loud and laughing and if you weren't paying attention you couldn't really tell the theme of most of their works. Some had sports, faerie tales, animals... it seemed like they were trying to match the card to the person's personality and in their hall anything could go.

The wolves followed the path of dangerous sports, pranks, spells were put on the cards so that something would happen when the person opened it, or some other spectacular event.

The falcons often followed a similar path as the butterflies without the kisses... well some did kiss the card but that was a whole other field to get into.

The toads were rather creative in a manner of speaking, the had combined of things that went all together. No one was following any single thought. They all varied widely from gardening to crazy choking the papers into little pieces after writing something on the page.

She gave them the rest of the afternoon to work in this manner. After they finished up they were able to give their card to their chosen person. She also noticed some of the students took a few sheets, it seems even if they pulled a name they were still going to make a card for several people.

She hadn't thought about that but that was a nice act on their part.

After dinner when all the students were going back to their rooms, Potsdam noticed that many of the students were giving the cards to their friends.

With the long holiday coming many of the students wouldn't see each other till they got back. Even with a day or so to go they all seemed to be feeling a little gloom of leaving this place.

Well it is nice to know that they wanted to come back even when they had not left for home yet, she thought as she went back to her office.

The time was almost upon them for the spell to be worked and she needed the next days to finish everything so that when assembly was going on they could make their wish.

She would stay up tonight and maybe wouldn't sleep the next day either.

Potsdam woke up with a grin on her face. She had stayed up for the several days to complete the spell all the while keeping up with classes and making arrangements for students to return home or make plans so that students who were staying with other students knew their schedules. It could all get confusing at times and she was quite happy that her head was screwed on tight or she might of lost it in her crazed scheduling.

She dressed slowly enjoying the feeling of success, even if it had not come to fruition yet, she did not doubt her abilities in the least. In fact, she had a small wicked smile appeared, she rarely failed but even in that failure something great came out of the plan in the end.

She was enjoying her morning cup of coffee when the helper came in to inform her that the students were on edge for the holiday.

"Yes, of course they would. They had a taste of what it is like being away from the school," she tapped the ball of her nose gentle with her pointer finger. "Well, the wild seeds are the ones that would be feeling a bit off. You'll notice that those from magical families don't have any issue really because they don't have to hid anything, but think on it, my helper, if you had to lie about who you really are wouldn't you be uncomfortable?"

The creature stared at her for a moment and then nodded in agreement.

"They don't even realize how uncomfortable it will be... how fortuitous of me, though not really, because I already know the truth to this situation," she seemed to almost sober up to an extreme that would have made her quit everything if she didn't know that people relied on her. "It can be too much at times... to forget... it is a blessing if you think on it, if you made the worst mistake we could just make you forget and nothing else. It is a privilege to have such a choice. We give them a 2nd chance...though what happens to them after that is really up to them."

How many had she done the choice on? How many did she had to erase? She had grew so silent that it had the creature come over and pat her on the shoulder. She blinked for a moment, "My apologize, the gloom is a terrible place to be sucked into, we all must fight it and in the end it just might when especially when we realize, how do we fight something that is truly part of us?" She took the coffee and finished off the cup. As she handed it to her helper, the creature appeared.

"My friend," it bowed before her. "It is complete. I appreciate working with you on it. This is a splendid spell and wish I could see it, but I have used too much energy and now must sleep until may flies..."

She had returned its bow and smiled, "I do appreciate your help on this. When may flies may I be the first audience with you so that I could tell you how everything went?"

"Of course," and the creature was gone with the sound of laughter of students that suddenly knocked on her door.

"Come in," Potsdam smiled wide so that no one would know the knowledge that ate at the back of her mind.

"Professor," they said in unison and they held out a gift. "For you!"

She chuckled softly, the seniors every year gave her a gift, each trying to out do the year before. She walked over and took the gift from them, "Thank you my darlings."

"Open open open..." they chanted.

"Okay okay," she slowly tore at the paper that had encased the item. When finished she held before her a set of tea cups. Each one formed from an gem, before her was a ruby, emerald, onyx, sapphire, tiger's eye, and quatz. Each cup had a carving of each house on it. "Oh my these are brilliant!"

"Each of the houses pitched in from the seniors to get a cup to match each house," they were all happy, she smiled and hugged each of them.

"Of course you will have to return to each house and hug everyone for me since the house sent each of their representatives to give me this gift," she carried the cups to a stand that was empty, there was six small wood pillars on the stand and each cup fit atop the pillars perfectly. "You are all so brilliant, I was wondering what should go here! Such wonderful children."

They left in a group being loud and laughing.

The helper came up beside her, "You knew already what it was...doesn't that ruin the fun of this holiday?"

"No," she smiled at the cups that shined brightly in their place. "Because just because I can predict something does not mean that I will get the result that I thought was going to happen. We humans have a way of surprising even Fate! They have given me a very powerful key to each house and they didn't even realize it."

"Oh?" it stared at the cups.

"They gave me something to connect to the houses of their own free will," she turned away and walked to the door. "You understand right? If I was a terrible headmistress those items could be the key to absolute power... but i care too much for my students." She left the creature staring at the cups trying to understand her words.

She smiled and shook her head as she thought on it. Powerful, truly powerful but not willing to use it as it could be the destruction of the school if I were to use it and I never want that.

It was time for assembly and she need to be there on time. She made her way done the halls, laughing softly as students ran past her to try and get there before her.

The assembly was full to the brim with students as all the years were here together with her. All in their rows and standing there ready to listen to her.

"Okay my little ducklings, this will be the last time we see you till next year," she gave her lecture of being careful and coming back to the school and other news before getting to her most important item. "Now for my gift to all of you..." she smiled sweetly. "Close your eyes my darlings and think of someone you care about and give them the best wishes."

Taking a step back she closed her eyes and felt as the energies were released from the weave that she had created. She opened her eyes as soon as she could feel the rush of students begin thinking of their person. She looked over the crowd and found the horse hall.

Ahh, there is my darling Sue, she thought as she could see the girl pondering. Unlike some of the students who rushed to decisions, the girl took her time.

Everyone lost concentration for a moment when one of the snakes broke out into a terrible cackle and was soon elbowed by the person next to her to stop. The reaction had made some students turn to the snake and eye her warily.

Potsdam returned her attention back to Sue was extremely surprised to watch as the girl's blessing move over the crowd and away. The weaves that had been made could be felt as they searched out their person.

Sue and Potsdam's eyes met and in an instant the girl began to blush. It was as if the girl knew that she knew who she had thought of.

The sudden realization of something made Sue look around quickly to see if anyone noticed it, but everyone else was so absorbed in their own minds that she couldn't have a clue if they to had experienced what she did.

Brilliant play Sue! Potsdam grinned widely and finished the speech and sent the students on their way and wishing them a great and wonderful holiday break.

It was pretty silent with many of the students gone. A few of the older wild seeds were staying at the school but they were not a distraction from the silence.

The knock on the door sounded like bangs to Potsdam as she had been exhausted from the spell and she had a splitting headache. "Come in, please..." she lifted her head from the desk and tried to look dignified.

Hieroynous came in with a quizzical look, "I was wondering since there are not many students around if I could take a room to continue my experiments? I had been doing them in my room but... there is not enough space for me to work efficiently."

"Yes, I suppose so," she was trying not to sound exhausted. "How are you feeling?"

He raised an eyebrow at her, "I have been quite well..." he paused a moment, "Are you okay?"

"Just a bit of a headache is all," she answered honestly.

"Oh, it is odd for you to be out of sorts," he said unsure. "It throws off the sense of everything in here."

"Yes, of course, I am sorry," she was trying to sound sincere but it wasn't happening.

"I'll bring you something to help with that," he walked out of the office, but soon returned with two cups and a teapot on a tray with several items.

She looked over and watched him curiously as he worked with the items in an unusual combination and then handed her a cup, "What is it?"

"Something to kick that headache away, also good at getting rid of some other ailments," he said as he took a sip from his cup and made a face, "A bit strong but that is the best way."

"You seem to be in a rather good mood," she said as she sipped at the hot liquid and coughed as it burned going down.

"I had this weird thought a few days ago but I thought nothing of it really," he said as he laid his head into his left palm and lead it against the arm of the chair as if he was deep in thought. "It was a warm feeling almost like someone was trying to let me know they were thinking of me, but I dismissed it as soon as I thought that a possibility but I guess the warmth stayed with me."

She grinned to herself and it almost as if the headache went away, "Oh it is probably a student wanting to wish you a great holiday and they were afraid on how you would react so they just thought it."

"That is what I wondering because there aren't many that could possibly make it through my wards," he said as he closed his eyes for a second, "SO I will strengthen everything and make sure there are no more weak points, I can't afford that when I am working on the experiment."

"It is not so bad for someone to think of you in such a manner, I am sure a girl in this school could have a crush on you, you are a teacher and all," she said as she took a gulp from the cup and shivered as it went down.

He made unidentifiable noise and then commented, "I am not here for some school girl's fantasy. I do not fulfill any of the requirements for that."

She raised an eyebrow, "Really? I would think you do actually fulfill many of these requirements, but I digress, let us enjoy the company of each other here and now and not argue on the possibilities."

He was wary of her dropping the argument quickly, "You must be exhausted if you are willing to stop with something that you think you might win... I suggest that after you finish that drink you go straight to bed and sleep the rest of the holiday. You'll need it as I am sure you have much to do and watch over." He moved quickly and was gone before she could protest.

He was right, she thought getting up slowly, she would take a hot bath, sooth her aching bones and head, pus cleanse herself. She had been successful in her plot and now would take a nice little break even if it was a moment just to take a bath.

It was a few days before for the children returned and Potsdam had rested up. She had sent her friend word of the success of the spell via the winter winds. She had recovered a little slower then she had wanted and now she had catch up and make the exam.

She was sitting at her desk and it was covered with schematics, it someone hadn't know better it looked like she was drowning in papers. She was drawing and speculating on what would be the best for the students in this quick exam. Since they would have been rusty after the long holiday and not being able to truly review over everything.

The knock on the door, brought her out, "Yes?"

Hieronyous came in with a grin on his face that was truly wicked and a tray that had a pot of coffee and two cups on it. "I assumed with you being better that you would have been trying to complete exams for all the classes..." she noticed as he turned to shut the door carefully that he had scrolls tucked away in his arms. "So I have brought some ideas already for you." He set the coffee tray beside her and pushed all the other schematics off of the desk. "They are actually very simple plans but the simplest can be the hardest at times, you understand right? Seniors, easy taken care of, the others fine not so delicate, but ah the freshmen... now there is something I take the most serious as they are the ones who still do not understand the dangers of magic yet and this would be a simple test."

Potsdam eyed him warily as she prepared her coffee. The smell of it awoke her to her senses and she glanced over at the scrolls. "Alright Hieronyous spread out the plans and we will go from there." She sipped of the dark and alluring liquid and sighed softly as it warmed her inside and out. She could handle anything right now.

He spread out the papers for her to look over.

It took two days and her arguing for him to take out all but one monster in the freshman exam. He had been wanting to make a point to the students but she would not allow him to discourage the young ones, they would learn at their own pace and she would not allow them to be dishearten.

The day that the students returned it was a sunny day and not too cold.

(I am so sorry guys!!! I didn't mean not to post for so long. Family... events, they can take over when you aren't paying attention. Here is an extra juice one for you all!!! I wonder what is going to happen?! Please enjoy speculating.)

After the students returned from school, Potsdam went on her rounds to inform the students the exams would be in a few days. She was very surprise about the fact that less students complained about the whole situation then she thought would. It was interesting because the seniors said nothing, the soph/juniors shrugged off the whole thought of the exam, it was the freshman that really let a ruckus happen. She heard everything from "After the holiday!?" to "Where is that fair?", it really was the wolves and the horses that made the loudest noise. That was expected of them. She thought on it and really had they just accepted it she would have been worried about the halls.

The study sessions were abundant and she was jumping not only from class to class but she was also working with group sessions and individual students. Potsdam was returning to her office later and later the closer the time was coming to the exam. The students seemed to have been stunned and now were snapping back into the routine of schooling.

Potsdam said in the dark and silence of her office the evening before the exam. She was focusing on how most of the outcomes would be for the students. She knew of several ways for them to solve the puzzles and many was for the to fail. This didn't stop the students from trying to solve the puzzles in unorthodox ways. She wanted to be ready for any problems that would occur, she couldn't be expected to know every way or ever every danger but she would be rather be prepared then to have something happen and to lose a life or unfix the child from a spell.

A knock at the door caused her to snap her eyes open and her to case a light spell quicky, "come in..."

He came in silent and careful. His top hat wobbled a little but stayed on, "Sorry to just drop in on you I know that you are busy with students and all."

"Ah my lord," Potsdam stood up gave a bow and then sat back down. "Just working on what the students will being trying to do on their exam tomorrow."

"yes, of course, how is your plan going? He has said nothing to me still and there has been no word in the circle about somthing happening," the man walked over to the chair, pulling up the tails of his coat and sat down slowly as not to wrinkle his tux.

"It is going well, I know now some interesting news and events that has made the plot thicken nicely," she said simply. "you risk being seen everytime you come here, you know. I mean think of your son for gosh sakes. if he saw us collaborating he would surely leave and you would not be able to trace him for a long time. This place may not be big but that doesn't mean someone can not disappear if they so wish it. Have faith, the girl has shown a great interesting in him and he has so given into her resquests several times, so i think this is going well."

"Requests?" he eyed Potsdam.

"One wonders, do they not? He has taken her out for a drink," she calculated her comments carefully, each word spoken with so much care it was as if they were brittle candy sculptures that would shatter with an quick movement, "They have had some interesting interaction. They work well together and she isn't afraid to challenge him with a new idea or give an opinion about something she thinks should be done different. She gave him insight on a different way of dealing out punishment though he seemed all to pleased to fulfill that request. I think they could really grow on each other if forced into a relationship that would make them realize their feelings."

"Should the age matter? I mean she sounds young," he said raising his eyebrow at her.

"She is younger then him if that is what you are asking but that shouldn't be an issue in light of our culture," she said sitting back in her chair with a smile on her face.

"True," he pondered a moment. "how to make them enter such a relationship though, he won't come out and agree to anything, you know this."

"Yes, but he does follow our laws to a "T" so I will go with that and work on something," she said and glanced at the clock, "You better go, or you will be late for your party."

He glanced at the clock, "Yes, of course, you are right as always. I will be expecting a little information on an update soon."

"Of course, you don't have to worry," she nodded as he left.

She leaned back in her chair and took a deep breath. The promises she made was for the better good, but sometimes there was something to that. She could feel a ping of guilt as she thought of the sacrifices she had to make to keep everything going as clockwork. She looked over at her window and stared at the stars. They would shine bright and burn out, be replaced or destroyed, they were just in a cycle, just as she was stuck in a cycle.

The day of the test the students seemed to be rather excited by the whole situation. They had studied and worked hard for this exam. The upgrades went through the maze and dealt with their monsters with easy. The freshman were an interesting lot, they were random in their choices and creative in the manner of solving the issue at hand. The most interesting people that tried to solve the puzzle were as followed:

Virginia simple blew up the monster to bits and sauntered out of the dungeon covered in the fake creatures body fluid and pieces, she was grinning hard and was laughing, impressed with her abilities.

Ellen worked out the system of how to lure the monster away with a call and sneak past the creature.

Suki well, Suki was Suki, she attempted to get the creature out of the maze never considering that it is a fake creature, in the end, she didn't pass but definitely the most unusual, trying to drag the creature out of the dungeon.

Sue, she is making a deep impression, she put the creature to sleep and then teleported the monster away. It was like she was taking into consideration that she didn't want to hurt the creature but at the same time make it self for herself to leave the dungeon. It would have been fine to just teleport it but she seemed to think that putting it to sleep would be easier for her to teleport it, almost making it a comfortable creature instead of angry as it was in the beginning. Extra merits for the thoughtful nature.

Potsdam carried the scrolls back to her office. She had made notes and comments on the students performances for this exam. This was the first time that she had allowed them to deal with a monster and there was much for them to learn. It didn't matter how much she talked if they didn't put it into practice then they would not know how to use their abilities in a time of need. She was impressed with the problem solving that the students came up with but even then many panicked when faced with the monster. She would have to stress the importance of keeping focused.

After sitting there reviewing after a few hours and a large scroll or two of notes on what she would be reviewing with the students and how it would be best to approach the students with their issues without upsetting or insulting them. She would tip toe through the sensitive emotions of the teenage mind and still allow them to grow, but it was a mine field. She took a deep breath looked over at the notes, sighed and got up and decided that her bed needed her more right now then anyone else especially herself.

(Thank you for enjoying this!!! I am sorry about the terrible updating I have been doing. Forgive me please!!! ToT)

After the exams there is a very calming and soothing time. The students relax and tend to let their guard down.

The sport's club meets up in the afternoon. The students are loving this club a lot more then was expected. Virginia seemed to be a little down during the day and so Potsdam went back to her office to watch from the crystal ball to see how she was doing or maybe get a clue in on what is on her mind. It seems her and Sue left the class early. Potsdam watched with interest in their conversation.

"I had wanted to be an athlete..." Virginia was explaining to Sue about what was dragging her down.

Sue was patient and listened giving Virginia some opinion on the issue and how she would handle it and that it didn't matter, that here at school she was the star athlete.

Potsdam grinned at Sue's answer and went back to her desk and thought about it carefully, she was perfect and now she was fitting the bill for her plot.

Potsdam was content with the new insight she had on Sue and Virginia so she made her rounds for the evening and returned later on in the night to rest.

The next day Potsdam noticed that Ellen was carrying a bunch of cleaning items with her.

Back to the crystal ball, she thought with a grin.

Entering her office, she rushed over to the ball and hoped not to miss anything.

Ellen was cleaning around Sue.

"Are you okay?" Sue asked Ellen as she notice the other girl cleaning vigorously.

"Oh yeah..." Ellen started to say and then suddenly start to blurt out about her family and the issues from the holidays and how much trouble she was feeling about it.

Again, Sue listened and sat quietly.

At the end of the conversation, instead of getting into a conversation about how it would make her feel better if she told her family or anything else, Sue joined Ellen on the floor, took a rag from the bucket and started to clean with the other girl.

It seemed here it was just better to let Ellen continue for a while, it was as if Sue knew exactly what each girl needed.

Later on in the afternoon, Potsdam was making her rounds when she noticed Donald going to the horse's hall.

This would be interesting, he likes to visit over to that hall so that he can either play a trick on his sister or.... she raised her eyebrow, he goes to go see Sue.

HA! she cackled in her mind, he has a crush on Sue, so interesting. This makes for some interesting events, she thought about it.

Back to the ball!

She laughed as she thought on it, it was like that super hero... someone about their cave and their tools or something, it would be her trade mark comment, "TO THE CRYSTAL BALL!"

(Glad you like it, you all know if I mess something up from the storyline of the game just tell me and I will fix it in the story!!! Twisted Evil I'm sure we all know who Potsdam was talking about!!)

Potsdam was sitting quietlyoutside in the courtyard when she noticedMinnie. The rather happy and bubbly girl seemed exhausted and tired. She had been extremely busy keeping up with this year's events. She had done a good job even if she had needed Sue to cover for her more often then she should. But, this is just “but” not a worthy of any attention; it will receive attention none the less. She does have a boyfriend that has become more of a bothersome figure instead ofa supportive figure. Butterflies often had many relationships and never just pick one because the conflicts of the relationships could cause fights. In the end everyone was unhappy. Many of the butterflies learned this at a cost... she watched the girl and soon realized that Minnie was coming to her.

"What is wrong Minnie?" Potsdam asked as she patted the bench that was next to her.

"I'm at a losson what to do;I'm the president, taking many classes, working hard and well... I don't think I can balance everything right now," she said asher lower lip quivered.

"You can leave the Presidency if need be," Potsdam said it lazily. "This would take off much of your stress and would allow some break for you to work out whatever it is that is on your mind."

Minnie looked at her in shock, "no no no... I would never do such a thing, the guy, it's not like we are married, not even magically bound to each other!" she thought about it for a moment, "Thankfully I am at least smart enough to avoid his desire to have us bind together... especially magickal."

Potsdam stared at her for a moment, "What?"

"Well as you know," she huffed a little, "About how sometimes a contract can form with two people if you accidently make a promise verbally, which can be extremely dangerous and can lead to losing our magic and life sometimes..."

"That's it!" Potsdam grinned wickedly and then adjusted herself as she returned to the conversation. "Minnie, it is you who got into this relationship, my dear, you must do what is best for your health not what is best for your friends or even your partner. You need to talk to a friend about this and see what kind of support you will get. I can not put my weight in this as it could look like favoritismand that would be a bit of trouble."

"Of course, ma'am, thank you for listening," she curtsey and left the bench.

Potsdam got up and rushed to her office. Where was that spell? Where? Where? She was soon tearing through everything when there was a knock on the door. "Yes?" she yelled as she was soon covered in books and scrolls.

Hieronyous was fuming, "I just dealt with your students!"

She looked over athim and then noticedthe small piece of paper that was floating down was the exactone she was looking for, "GOTHCA!" She swiped at the paper and tried to compose herself to something of the headmistress. "Hieronyous, they are your students as well," she said as she went to her desk and sat down. "But go ahead."

"Your favorite, Donald... and his friend Luke," he seemed to curse under his breath. "They attempted to take a prank a little farther then should be."

"Oh Donald means nothing by what he does and he is very careful with his pranks, he brings a life to this school that hasn't been seen in a while," she said as she read the small paper. "He wouldn't be so terrible and this is why he gets detention and you deal with him."

Hieronyous smiled evilly, "He took one of the other students to the dungeon..."

"Oh? Was it at least one without monsters?" she looked up at him.

"No, of course not, they wouldn't know that," he growled at her.

"He is capableof protecting himself," she answered as she started writing on the page.

"And what of Sue?" he said it as if he was a snake hissing at prey that hadn't notice it there.

"Oh so he did take Sue with him?" she kept writing a moment. "I am sure this girl is well and capable to handle the boys, nothing would have happened if Luke is there too. She must havecontrolled the situation if you are here. So you pushed all three of them and of course handed demerits out. You did fine, but I wonder if you were toohard on Sue..."

He glared at her for a moment, "If she was fool enough to follow those two..."

"And what if she just wanted to see what was going on? She is not one to sit down and let everything go by," she said and then handed him the page.

He took it but didn't look at it, "I will think on what you have said." He looked down and stared for a moment, "This spell isn't finished."

"No, it is a combination of a white and blue spell for protection in the other and seeing that you have such a creature that can not kill you but from such a place I want you to finish it, I am not so familiar with some things and know when to go to help for something," she leaned back in her chair and chuckled softly, "Besides you need something to preoccupy your mind. It seems that girl can't escape you."

"What don't be silly Potsdam, that child is far too ignorant and simply gets in the way because she is a wild seed," he got up quickly, "Do not assume something that could leadto misunderstandings and someone disappearing." He slammed the door behind him.

She smirked at the now shut door, he will take this in stride but it will get him in the end. Checkmate.

Hieroynous was walking in the horse hall when Potsdam was making her rounds after the classes were done. She went ahead an decided to follow him under a veil.

He knocked on the door to one of the dorm, "Sue?"

The girl looked a little shocked for him to be there but stepped out to meet him, "Yes, Professor?"

"I have thought on the dungeon issue and..." he stopped talking for a moment and looked over to the area that Potsdam had been standing but shrugged and turned back to the girl, "I am giving back your merits, it was an unusual situation that you were in, but you will still serve detention to make you aware that not everyone's intentions are that of kind ones." He turned away and strode down the hall way, the girls watched him fearful they would be punished for something.

Sue stood there stunned and shook her head for a moment, looked around to see if anyone else heard that and then went back into her room.

Ha! Potsdam was grinning when she removed her veil and stood there happily. He would have to honor this... she is perfect, why else would he do has she had instructed and removed part of the punishment? Well, I have work to do to get this plot going!

She went back through the halls and checked on the students as she tried to work out the best situation of things to happen.

The next week or so was quiet and the students seemed to be on their best behavior.

Potsdam had heard at one point that Minnie and Kyo were having issues but that he had been trying to make everything better. She figured that Minnie would know best for herself.

Between classes her plot began unfolding. She would have the classrooms locked up or taken up by experiments that would have to push Hieronyous to practice somewhere that Sue would show up... this would be dangerous though because there is no telling how the reaction of the creature to Sue showing up would be. She would have to time this right. Knowing where he would be practicing would be best and since Sue goes to sort the mail every Saturday morning at 5, then it would be best to be around that room hidden so that Sue nor Hieronyous couldn't sense her.

She thought on how that spell originally was set up to work. It had been a barrier of times the problem was it could only work with one person and as soon as someone crossed it the protection was broken. It had been a barrier she designed to make it possible for someone to be pulled in by the user but it had not been fully fixed and was missing something to work right. So giving it to him would have been interesting to see his results.

If she made the room that Sue sorted mail it would be easier to make sure that everything was alright.

She started setting up experiments into each of her classes and in the older students classes. Soon the experiments were flooding into all the class rooms as students were working on unusual projects and creating sensitive magic that could be destroyed if the same magic wasn't used around it. This focused many of the teachers to switch teaching written items instead of casting. Not that this bothered them, a break from trying to save students from their own abilities was a welcomed break.

Hieronyous came in to her office a day or so from Saturday, "Potsdam what are you thinking?"

She casually looked over at him from her crystal ball, "Dear what could you possibly mean?"

"All these projects have taken up all the class rooms, where am I to work on the spell?!" he was annoyed with the situation.

"Well, the mail sorting room is open really early in the morning so you could do your work in there. Besides you don't have any detention this weekend so it would be prefect for you," she said and chuckled as she watched Virginia knocked out one of the other players with a soccer ball.

"Really? That room is small and there is much in there," he grumbled.

"Your room would do but I believe you said that the creature is destructive and likes to make a mess," she said as she watched them dragging the poor kid to the nurse. "Besides if it makes a terrible mess you could make the Treasurer clean up after everything happens or make one of the detention students, if you have any, clean up after everything is finished. In the end you get to make someone miserable, you like doing that anyway."

"It isn't that I like making them miserable, it is that they need to learn and strict discipline will keep them in line," he said waving off her comment for a moment, "But making the Treasurer clean up would work for me as she does have to do the mail anyway and can't possibly work in a horribly messy space. Fine... I' ll do that. No more experiments near the sorting room."

"Of course," Potsdam nodded as he left her alone to watch the crystal ball.

She smiled at the closed door. Bingo!

Potsdam sat in total silence and darkness. She was a day away from executing her plot and precision with a touch of madness would allow such a plan be wrought from her hands and written into history. She was at a lose of what the cost could be if she got this wrong, she only knew that she could not afford to get it wrong. The innocent one that she held dear to her was now going to be used as a sacrificial bride to satiate the beast that claws at her own throat. To keep the Lord at bay with tying his son to a woman would be the only thing that would make such a man lay away and allow her full control of her school once again.

All this to keep the school in such a financial status that she wouldn't have to worry about the lack of interest in magic or the old ways. She struggled often with the outside world, once a child knew the true cost of coming here they now made their choice to forget and live a normal life. Not that she blamed them but there must be new people introduced to a system was a must for a place to grow in knowledge and expansion on the population.

She rolled over and stared into the darkness. There was an emptiness that she now felt, she was taking a big risk, she was wrong for doing this. Forcing others into something because of the good of the many... she often preached to students that they had to take care of themselves before they could help others and her she was putting aside her own emotions on this simply to make sure that there was something there next time.

One of her helpers came in and turned on the light and held a tray of coffee for her. It was smiling warmly at her and as soon as it finished fixing her a cup just the way she liked it, it would turn to cleaning her room.

"Thank you," she smiled softly as she took the cup and sat up in her bed, careful to not burn her mouth as she sipped at the hot liquid. "Today, I have much to do..."

The brownie smiled and nodded in agreement but said nothing.

She often spoke to them even if they didn't answer her back. It was a contract that they had with the original headmaster of the school and she had no desire to fix the agreement. They were just comforting to have around when they weren't causing trouble or tricks.

"Potsdam?" there was a voice coming from her office.

She got up and quickly put on her robes, she was quick about the whole thing and was before the person in a blink of an eye.

"Yes?" she asked as she materialized into her office chair.

"Oh, I was just bring some more mail for you," the mail man said as he dropped off the large postal box onto her desk, but careful not to crush anything. "Just needed you to sign, you know the rules," the man smiled softly.

"Of course, wouldn't dream of changing our arrangements," she took the clipboard from the mailman and read over the information then signed carefully.

"Good Day to you Potsdam," he tipped his hat as he walked out and shut the door behind her.

The brownie that had been cleaning her room was now taking the box and moving it over to the area where they would sort by each grade and hall.

"Thank you again, on top of everything as always!" she was feeling like herself again and was losing the sense of foreboding doom from her mind.

She walked over to her bookshelf and pulled out a gold leaf covered book. The cover was painted with elaborate animals but all of them paired and in some kind of ritual of togetherness. She flipped through and pages and refreshed her memories on what the ritual would call for.

She had several of the items already, from her youthful days of another life, she gathered items here and there. Carefully she kept them near her but did not allow them to show if anyone came into the office for fear that she would lead them to start rumors. It was not quite time for that yet.

She gathered the ribbons of many colors and the baskets. She looked over at the symbols from the book and wrinkled her nose at the thought about corn and an olive branch, well it was unusual times back then and many things back then had different meanings then they did now.

The robe, dress, that would be for Sue would be tricky. She looked through many of her trunks. Sue was not as well... she was still maturing as a woman and not as gifted as herself in certain places so she would have to fix the gown.

"Ahh!" She said aloud as she went to a trunk she had not gone through in ages. The gown in there was from her first May Day dance and was something she held dearly. This would allow for much meaning for this child even if she didn't know its origins. She pulled the gown out and dusted it softly, magic would clean it up and she could change the color to match Sue's personality, the white would stay but the trim could be changed a little. She smiled at the gown as she thought back to that grand evening. She had caused so much trouble for the boys...

Snapping back she took to working black magic and changing things on the gown and repairing places that had been eaten away by something. The focus allowed her to forget all else around her.

When she was finished she hung the gown on the wardrobe that she had opened earlier to change quickly.

There, perfect, for all that it is worth it. She took her wand and some books, it was now time for some of her classes and she could let her thoughts wander on students instead of worrying about the plan to come.

Potsdam was up early so early the evening creatures were still stalking through the campus. She was careful not to stir anything or anyone. She was veiled and still she convinced herself that tiptoeing would still be the best thing to do in addition to her other efforts and spells. She had to be very careful because Hieronyous would be extremely careful and she would need to make the disturbance in the spell to be minuet and unnoticeable. She couldn't be linked in any manner and he would have to feel at fault.

As she entered she noticed that the circle was already drawn out for him. He must of come in the evening to prep everything, she thought as she looked around and noticed he had straightened everything up in the room. He purged the area of anything that could distract him, how interesting, she noted as she pulled a small pouch out of her robes. Meticulous was an understatement for his actions, she fingered the contents of the pouch carefully. He had used sand to draw out the circle and this would be his down fall in this situation, the sand in her pouch was a mix of a barrier and sleeping spell, the person only regained conscientious once the original barrier is broken. This would allow him to be protected if anything goes wrong and make sure that he awakes when Sue and herself have come in.

She carefully allowed the sand to slip from her clenched fist. She followed his designs and symbols to make sure that nothing was out of place. Stepping back and gleaming at her work, she noticed that the mail hadn't been brought in yet. Curious? She waved the issue out of her mind and left the room.

There was plenty of time to spare so Potsdam headed to the kitchen and made herself a cup of coffee and took a pastry that was made for today's breakfast. There in the kitchen was the head chef who was working with others to get all the food together for the students that would be up in a few hours and they would not want to be late with the food, the children could be brutal when it came to their meals.

"How is the morning treating you, my dear?" Potsdam asked the chef as she was finishing off touches on each pastry.

"Oh no complaints, other then the brownies that sneak in and swipe a pastry as they leave," the chef sighed her accent so heavy and sluggish that she almost sounded like she was talking in her sleep.

"I'll talk with the leader to make sure that this doesn't keep happening, the whole reason we have around is to help us, not to sneak off with treats that they haven't worked for yet," Potsdam said as she smacked a small hand that had been near her trying to grab at her pastry. "No."

The chef chuckled and continued her work, "You are up early today, is there something going on?"

"Oh no, couldn't sleep is all," Potsdam grinned into her cup as she drank her waking elixir. "So I figured to grab an early meal and a cup before I get to roaming the halls and handling students issues."

"True, they are young and unfamiliar to how cruel the world could be," the chef stopped and glanced over at Potsdam as the woman took a bit of her pastry.

She nodded as she tried not to answer with her mouth full, with a soft gulp she answered, "This is the truth, but they are here to learn and we will teach them as much as we can before they have to go out there into the cold world. It is our job to prepare them for what is going to be out there waiting for them. But to do so we need a good cup of coffee and a breakfast that is energizing." She got up and walked over to the chef and gave her a one handed hug before she left the kitchen.

She had stayed longer then she had wanted. Glancing over at the clock she noticed it was a few minutes after Sue needed to go to the mail room, her double take was that of shock, she hadn't been that long in the kitchen had she? She needed to move quickly and get to them before something truly terrible happened! She rushed down the halls and with much effort she tried to get there before it became her fault that something terrible would happen.

With a spell she refreshed herself and realized that the energies from the room were changing, one with malicious intent was growing stronger while one grew weak and the other stated in a stable status. That creature was consuming her life energy! Oh, this would take her making a grand appearance and a booming voice to break the creature's concentration on Sue. Potsdam gathered more energy then she needed and placed her hand on the door knob as she entered the room ready to cast herself as a truly in control being.

(The italic, black words are that from the actual game. Everything in colored writing is my adding to this situation.)

Potsdam opened the door and didn't move into the room, before her was the manus, Sue and Professor Grabiner were there in a tight situation. She realized that the creature was using its power to absorbing Sue's life force and then it happened,
"You will not touch that child! She is... of the house of Grabiner. She is his affianced bride whom he has pledge to marry this very day."

Hieronyous got up quickly when he realized that he heard Potsdam booming voice, " It is sworn." He turned to see Sue struggling with the situation at hand, he then growled, "You absolute imbecile."

Potsdam frowned at him as the room was returning back to normal and the evil energies dissipated,
"Not here, Hieronyous."

Hieronyous was no visibly angry with Sue, "Do you know what you've done?"

"She was trying to save your life. Surely you wouldn't want her to lose her soul for such an act," Potsdam didn't even let the tone of his voice disturb her, the plan had worked, grant it, that wasn't exactly what she thought was going to happen but it worked...

He growled at Potsdam, "I am not sure this is an improvement."

Sue was completely confused with what just happened and looked to her professors for answers, "Professor? I don't understand."

Hieronyous was completely lost in what he needed to do but managed to gripe in annoyance,
"In the future, Miss Sue, you should learn not to meddle with things you do not understand."

Potsdam was annoyed with Hieronyous as he couldn't let one word go,
"Not here, please. We should speak away from the watch.
I will take her away to explain. We will see you again at noon?"

Hieronyous snarled at them as he left,
"As I appear to have little choice."

Potsdam grabbed Sue and dragged her into an open classroom to keep them both from people overhearing something that they were not part of but the whole time Sue tried to ask questions,
"What happened? What's going on?"

Potsdam shook her head and slowly began explaining what happened,
"Professor Grabiner recently came into possession of a manus, a guardian spirit sworn to the service of his family line. He has been ... experimenting with it. When you crossed the containment wards, it began to feed on you.The only way to save you was to cause the spirit to recognize you as a rightful member of the family it serves."

Sue started to twisting her fingers in her hands and tried to piece everything together,
"Right, but ... that was just to fool it, right? I'm not really engagement to Professor Grabiner."

Potsdam could have probably figured another way to make it so that she was part of the family but this fulfilled the requirements better then she had planned, getting them together and married would make the Lord completely happy, but this would make it hard on Sue, she would have to figure out a way to make it up to the poor girl,
"Oh my dear. A wizard's word is binding. A manus would not be fooled by simple trickery.
Therefore, you will have to marry him. Today."

Sue was in shock and couched out the words,
"What? But... he's my teacher! and I'm only sixteen! And he doesn't even like me!"

Potsdam found the shock rather adorable, Hieronyous would have to work hard not to fall for this girl,
"But you tried to save him and now he is saving you. Isn't that romantic?"

Sue was horror stuck, she was pale and almost unable to stand
, "Professor Grabiner is going to kill me!"

Potsdam gently put her arm around the girl and gave her a hug and then took a step back to see the girl's weak smile
, "Really his bark is worse than his bite. Haven't you noticed that by now?"

Sue looked at Potsdam with some hope that she could help her out of this,
"There has to be some other way..."

Potsdam had to be strong about her convictions and stick to making this happen, she felt the pang of guilt in her heart but she had to be firm, to be honest she was really following the rules of magic, but as a teacher and headmistress she should have tried other ways but she needed Sue to do this for her,
"No. The oath has been given. To break that now would cost his magic and your life. This isn't forever. You will be joined for a year and a day, you can go your separate ways. I'm sure this isn't quite the wedding a girl dreams of, but I have some lovely robes that should fit you and I think it will all turn out for the best. Perhaps you'll even come to like each other."

Sue was at a lose for what to say, groping in the dark for something that could be used as a possible excuse, "But, but...But what about the mail?"

Potsdam grinned at her, this was something that she could do for the girl so she didn't have anything to worry about, she had enough on her plate,
"Oh don't you worry about that. My little helper will see to it. Wow, we need ribbons, and a basket, and a witness, and I will need to alter the dress."

(Okay, same rules apply to this set of the writing as I continue with the section of the game that needs the actual text from game and I want no credit for it because it is someone else's hard work. Hope you guys are continuing to enjoy this fanfic...)

Potsdam was working hard on making it look as if everything was spontaneous and that she had none of this planned out. She would rush in and out of the classroom, bring small bits of the items that she had needed.

The dress was most important to her as it was truly a symbol to at least a girl of what was fun about a wedding. She had taken it in her hands and carefully carried it back to Sue.

"Hmm, well we can fix it here and there," Potsdam said as she eyed the lace once she had it near Sue.

"It isn't a bother ma'am, I mean you are lending it to me and there is no point in ruining this lovely robe," Sue said nervously as she accepted the robe from Potsdam.

"Don't be foolish," she said as she busied herself with the other items she had with her. The baskets, ribbons, everything was pretty much already together so that she didn't have to hurry around too much. Would Hieronyous have something to wear for this? She eyed Sue, who seemed completely distraught with the whole thing and was now frowning at the dress.

"Ma'am really I mustn't think of this more then it is..." Sue had tried to make a protest about the robes and Potsdam took this chance to shove an apple in her mouth.

"There finish that off as we won't be eating for a while longer and you need your strength. Put the gown on while I am away and I will go to make sure that the witness and everyone else and everything else is ready,," she watched as Sue could only nodded in agreement as she had a large bite of apple in her mouth.

Potsdam smiled at the girl and left locking the door behind her, just in case there was something going on or Sue attempted to sneak off. She made her way down the halls to the teacher's living area.

She knocked on the door, "Hieronyous?"

There was grumbling from behind it and he soon opened it but grunted at her, "What is it Potsdam?"

"We are holding the wedding in the dungeon seven..."she said as soon as the door began to open but it then stopped a crack, "You have something proper to wear, correct?" she eyed him through the crack.

"This is a wedding for show, there is no need..." he tried to argue.

"This girl is in as much trouble in this situation as you are, please be a dear, I have given the child a dress and it would be most comforting if you were to be in your best as well or at least lose the hat and your book, it is the weekend and you don't always need to carry it with you."

"Ugh, Fine," he snapped at her, "I have something I am sure could work for this occasion..."

"Great!" she grinned as she turned and left him there. She would need a witness someone that could be trusted to a point.

She was walking through the butterfly hall as Minnie was walking past.

"Professor," Minnie smiled as her usual greeting was to come.

"Minnie, as president, the students trust you with much," Potsdam said offhanded.

"Yes, Ma'am," she was taken back with the comment.

"Come my dear, you will be helping me and it will be of the utmost importance that no other soul knows of this but us," Potsdam said with a smile, grave but solemn smile.

"Yes," Minnie answered as she was dragged away.

Potsdam led her down to a dungeon. This would have to do. "Minnie, I need you to help me out and make sure this place is presentable for the event that will occur in..." she looked over at the wall where a grandfather clock stood. "It will be happening in one hour...so we have our work cut out for us. Better let my helpers know. I will leave you to guide them. I must return to another thing that I was doing, but will return soon."

She left Minnie there and then summoned one of the brownies, she explained the situation and what the would be doing. It nodded its agreement and soon made its way down the dungeon hall to meet up with Minnie.

Potsdam returned to the classroom, there stood Sue in the robe and tugging and pulling on certain areas. "No worries dear nothing a little black magic can't fix," she zipped around Sue and made note of where there was to be less material and more in other places. Soon the dress was fitting and the colors changed to suit Sue better.

"There we go, now I will take all the stuff down and you wait her," She left Sue in the classroom and carried all the items needed for the wedding down to the dungeon.

Minnie had doe a great job and the brownies were finishing up as she entered. "Grand job you all, take the rest of the weekend off..." she smiled at Minnie as the creatures took off once done with the last bit.

"They deserve it," Minnie said with a smile.

"Yes, the dears are so sweet for doing this," she handed the stuff off to Minnie. "There is going to be a marriage today and I need you to bear witness to the union. I trust you understand that this must stay a secret as it can cause a lot of trouble for the two people involved..." Potsdam explained the whole situation to Minnie whose mouth was now gaping with shock and awe. "Understand?"

"Yes, it is my duty and my honor to help another officer out, especially with this kind of situation," Minnie was still slightly shocked but got the jest of everything.

"Grand," Potsdam said clapping her hands, "I will go get Sue as there is only a few minutes to spare."

She left Minnie to ponder over the severity of the whole situation and what her keeping this secret entails.

She retrieve Sue and guided her down to the dungeon. The girl was in no state to take notice of all that was going on, but she seemed to notice little things. Potsdam was relieved that she had stopped trying to fight the situation and just accepted it.

Potsdam was giddy when she saw that Minnie was comforting Sue before everything was going to happen and when she caught a glance at Hieronyous as he came down there to meet with them, he was dressed very well. Perfect! This will be the start of something great.

"Shall we begin?" Potsdam was smiling wide as she began the ceremony. He had shown up dressed well, Sue couldn't take her eyes off of him, if he would have not ruined it by glowering at her. She let out a soft sigh and frowned a moment but snapped back as she started,
"Come stand with me and bring the gifts forth for the exchange..."

Potsdam recited this portion of the ceremony rather firmly trying to make it clear that those two would need to work to make this happen more for then the year, "Own free will and the value of honor and loyalty."

She had memorized the words well but if they didn't take this serious nothing would come of this,
"And with each, the gifts provided for the other..."

This was the queue for Minnie and Potsdam to take the ribbons and "tie" the couples hands together. It was symbolization of union, but with SUe's hands shaking gently and Hieronyous frowning through the whole situation there was no getting to a common ground.

Potsdam struggled from glaring at Hieronyous as she continued to speak the words,
"As two streams join to form a river o your two lives join to form to create something great then they were. One family and one future, for one year are ye bound. You may kiss the bride."

Hieronyous had been glaring at the crossing of his hands with Sue's but when Potsdam had made mention of the last bit he snapped his head in her direction and focused on her,"Is that strictly necessary?"

Potsdam blushed softly in a sigh of sadness, "Well, no."

"Then I have no intention of demeaning myself." He had a wicked grin on his face as he commented and then continued , "Well then. I will see you in a year for the severance."

Potsdam frowned at him for the comment but thought better of starting anything that could be deemed an argument, he wasn't going to ruin this for Sue, "Hieronyous, don't be cruel. She's your wife now. We should all go out for a nice meal together."

"She maybe my wife in name, but that is the end of it." He was on a roll now and wasn't going to stop until he made sure they knew how miserable he was at that moment and he might as well make someone else feel the same way, " You are to stay out of my way. Do not expect special treatment or privileges. You will not use my name. You will not enter my rooms, and no one is to know about this. Do you understand?"

Sue was not shaking anymore but she was nervous and her voice reflected this, "Yes sir."

He was satisfied with the fact that the girl who had caused this whole mess was still terrified of him, "I hope this whole affair has taught you the cost of foolishness. Goodbye Miss Sue."

Potsdam took this moment and made a mental jab at him, "Ms. Grabiner."

Sue was not going to recover easily from this and the way she was responding to the issue was not helping, "What happens now?"

Potsdam thought a moment and grinned, if I give her the idea that she has the power to do this then she will most likely succeed, "I think that is largely up to you.

Minnie as a friend and the president had prepaired something quickly to give to Sue, it wasn't much but for someone who wasn't expecting anything it could make her feel better, " Sue... here."

(Glad, that you are repaying it, let me know if I missed something. Playing the came to get script and then typing it out here it, it is way possible for me to miss something. Grabiner and Sue was my fav. path that I played... I think I'm obsessed with it really.

Oh that note, this should be the last same rules like last post...at least for a while.)

Potsdam switched from the frown that she was feeling for on her face and tried to make the girls feel fine about the whole thing by ... treating them to a nice lunch and dinner, that would be helpful,
"Yes. that's right. And we will go out for a lovely meal, even if the groom doesn't care to attend. But first, we'll need to get you out of those robes."

Potsdam drove them to Glen's so that they would be able to enjoy eating something that would really take their minds of the situation. There was no wait as Potsdam had set up reservations for the meal before they left. As they were getting ready to grab for the menus Potsdam blocked the girls hands and began ordering things in an unrecognizable language and smiled after everything was said and done.

In all the rushing Potsdam realized that she hadn't touched up her makeup since the morning and excused herself from the table, it had been an excuse to allow the girls to talk a little more freely.

Once in the powder room she set up her mirror as a television like device so she would watch them and listen in on what they spoke about.

Minnie moved over to the same side Sue was on and placed her hand over Sue's, trying hard to comfort the girl that was completely lost in thought,
"Are you alright?"

Sue struggled to find the right words but only to blubber out what was coming from her thoughts, "I ... I never wanted this to happen. And the worst part is ... I wanted him to respect me, but now he hates me." Sue could only finish off the last bits of words with a pain look and taking her face and burying it into her hands.

Minnie was trying hard to figure out what to say but was also grasping at straws with a soft weak smile, "I don't think he hates you. I think he hates this situation."

Sue lifted her head up and took a gulp of air as she tried not to cry, "But it's my fault!"

Minnie shook her head at first as if shaking the words free before she spoke, but when it clicked she tried hard to sound sympathetic to Sue, "You were just doing your job. It was because of his mistake that you were in danger. But don't remind him of that, or he probably will hate you. He's a proud man."

Sue was at a lose of how Minnie seemed to know a lot about Grabiner, her words came out as a question but they both knew it was meant to be a statement,"You know him really well?"

Again, Minnie shook her head before she spoke and tried to not sound like a stalker, just that she had been curious, "I did research. That's what I'm good at. He doesn't like people prying though. Don't push him. Treat him with respect and be patient. Don't let him frighten you off. He'll calm down. Hold onto yourself, alright? It will be okay."

Potsdam took that as her queue that it was alright to return to the girls. She sat on the opposite side of the girls. Other then the fact that all three couldn't possibly fit together squeezed into the booth, it was easier for her to keep an eye on Sue.

As they waited for the food, Minnie and Potsdam chatted it up about school and other things. They would try to get Sue in but she often just gave single answers to questions and one liners when it came to a comment when needed.

In a stretch of trying hard to get Sue to smile Potsdam would take a napkin and fold it into a form once finished she would set it before the girls. If they could guess correctly the napkin would come to life as the creature it was to be mimicking. This brought a smile to Sue's face for a few moments but after the napkin would return to being the cloth Sue's eyes could be described as glazing over as she tried to figure something out.

Potsdam would then lean in and make some comment on a rumor that would have been going around at the school or about magical families that were having students attend there.

Once the food got there, everyone hadn't realized that they were so hungry that no one spoke as they tried to daintily shovel food into their mouths.

Potsdam found it unusual for herself to be so hungry but she had been casting spells the whole time so maybe this was just the result for this time.

The table was completely covered with foods and as each one of them grabbed for something different Potsdam would explain what was magical about the food and what kind of spells would have been used to cause the effects that were occurring.

She had made sure to keep the girls out the whole afternoon and evening. She wanted them to be so full and exhausted from the events of the day that they would get to their dorms and crash out into a dreamless sleep.

(Yeah, I am back to just using my stuff! Thanks for letting me use the original script to lead to the next portion. Hope everyone is still enjoying this!)

Potsdam was exhausted after she returned with the girls. She went to her office and found stacks of paperwork to fill. She had informed the council on the issue of the marriage as it wasn't something that could be avoided so the paperwork was for most of that problem. She also needed to inform the Lord that the act was done.

Sighing at her desk she walked past it and headed to her room to rest, she would complete everything the next day, but now she needed to rest.

The next day everyone seemed to be back to normal and the Sunday was for resting anyway. Most students spent it relaxing in the dorm but other spent time with their books.

Potsdam sat at her desk was working on some of the paperworks when there was a knock at her door, "Yes?"

Hieronyous came in and sat down not saying anything, but was glaring at her for a moment, "Have you written to them yet?"

"No," she answered honestly, "I will be writing to them in a little while. They were informed of the issue and what was needed. They simply want to confirm that everything went over smoothly and that the girl is taken care of. I will inform them that everything went fine, that is all they needed to know."

"I agree," he got up and was getting ready to leave with a cloud still over head and stopped and turned toward her, "he doesn't need to know. Just let the head of the council know what is going on, write the letter to them but he doesn't need a personal letter. He doesn't need to be in my business so do not write to him."

"I respect your request," she said watching him carefully. "he will find out though he is part of the council..."

"That doesn't mean he knows everything, especially that man," Hieronyous growled as he said it. "he is in no way part of this situation and so he doesn't need to know."

"Like I said before I respect your request," she smiled at him so sweetly.

"Alright," he was still lingering around the door.

"Yes?" she said not looking up from her writing.

"This situation will not get out of hand," he said it, there seemed to be energy around him now. "This was unavoidable but anyone else knowing about this other then those that are required would be embarrassing and could cause issues with my work."

"Hieronyous, in all actuality Sue is the innocent one in this situation," Potsdam said with as raise brow and now matching his mood with her own. "It wasn't her who couldn't remember that the time for his student to arrive and do the mail was. I warned you about the time and I had hoped that you would have made sure that you were out of there by the right time." She was now grinning at him with a look on her face that said prove I had anything to do with it, "So the only one who should feel the brunt of your anger is yourself, you even went as far as brooding in your room while this poor girl went to dinner with myself and Minnie, trying not to blame herself the whole thing. You truly are the one at fault for all this... now you will make the best of this situation and you will treat that girl well, she didn't know what was going on and was worried for you, if I were you I would thank her and ease up on her. She is of course your wife and now a companion, practically an equal to you, not in knowledge but as someone to trust and adore... you better not mess this up for both your sakes, her life and your magic is on the line or do I have to keep reminding you of this? I could set an alarm to do that for you or maybe have a creature follow you around to remind you? You maybe a teacher but act like a child and I will treat you as one."

The energy that had been electrified around him was now empty. He was glaring at her so hard that if he could have killed her he would have or at the very least maimed her enough to make her regret her words, "I understand what you are saying and I will handle the situation in my own way so do not worry, Headmistress. As my student there will be no issues." He took this silent moment as his way to leave without any remarks made.

Potsdam grinned at the letter she had been working on. It simple said, "Please come to my office when you have a chance." He did state not to write to his father about the situation but no where did he make a comment about telling him in person.

She finished off the paperwork and had one of her helpers take the envelopes to be delivered quickly. There was no need to rush but the point of importance was not lost on her. The fact that a teacher and a student were married would lead that the student would be treated differently even if she didn't notice it would still happen. Sue had some interesting options now but she didn't know that she even had them but still would be interesting.

She got up and stretched, it had taken too long for her to complete the letters. It was late in the evening and she was unable to see how the girls were doing with this situation and the knowledge that was now secret to all others but them. She thought about it, they would become rather close because of this and Minnie was very to the book kind of girl so any conflicts that would occur could be avoided this way. Friendship will be built this way at the very least these two girls are now aware of each other where they wouldn't have been before.

When the next morning came up, she did her usual rounds of the halls as morning was Hieronyous' classes for the first years and second years that wanted to get into his blue or red magic classes. Her students in the morning were the second or third years who had focused on the black, white or green but these students were working on a long project this semester and she would only show up when needed or questions were asked so she wandered the halls on this morning.

She had actually wanted to see how Sue was doing with her husband now. She had focused on blue and white magic which was an interesting combination so Monday was her blue class and he would be hard on her but Potsdam had wanted to see how hard he would be so she would spy a little. Using the crystal would be obvious for him especially with this class so she was going to have to do it in an old fashion manner...or at least old fashion in her way. She created a small fly like creature that she sent through the door as the students were walking into the class. The creature parked itself in the back of the class behind some items.

She was not wanting to use the creature without being somewhere that was near that room just in case it was discovered. The small creature could be mistaken for a prank and this would absolve her of any issues about her keeping tabs. She headed to one of the labs and sat quietly as she went into a simple trance to see what it saw and hear what it heard.

The class began and Sue wasn't focused on her professor. This wasn't uncommon of her as she often focused to listening rather than visual, but the grin that appeared on his face was that of wickedness and Potsdam knew instantly that he was going to bully her a bit. Sue took his judgement of her "knowing" everything as a hurtful pang. As the class continued others seemed to notice that he was picking her to answer question on subject they hadn't even really gone over. She would simply take the hits though sitting there with her eyes focused on him she tried everything not to cry or make him feel like he won. Her only tool against him was to stand there and take it, though she was too stressed to absorb anything that he was throwing at her she still made it through class.

Potsdam leaned against the wall in the lab, he was going to make this so difficult for this poor girl! Ugh, any respect and hopes this girl had is practically destroyed by him today. She shook her head and struggled back to her feet. It was time for her other classes and the students would need help. She sighed and crushed the spell in her thought so it wouldn't be found at all.

It was a good class day the students were productive and willing to learn so this made her bad mood disappear so when she returned to her office the man before her didn't even stir a negative emotion.

"Potsdam, I came as soon as I got a chance," he said as he was standing there waiting for her.

"Yes of course, Lord," she signaled him to sit in the chair as she passed him. "You came here quicker then I thought you would."

"I was hoping that you had good news for me," he said he clasped his hands before him and rest his chin on the pillar that his hands created.

"I do," she said sitting down slowly, "If your fool of a son doesn't ruin it," she spat the words out, "You should know that a teacher had to marry a student this weekend... there was no revealing of names or anything of that sort because only the head of the council got that but you all knew the situation and voted that it was to be a green light on go for this situation to happen to save the girl's life." She paused a moment and smiled, "Your son decided to do some work and ended up getting caught up in the mess of it and the girl tried to save his life... but it was a messing situation, your son swore to the girl as his fiance."

The lord was now grinning, it was the same wicked smile that sent a shiver down her spin, this man had mastered that wickedness that the son had yet caputred, "Well that is a bloody interesting situation... now how could my son do something like that as he is overly careful about anything like this..."

Potsdam raised a brow, "He neglected that the spot he chose to work was that of the girl's work area early in the morning... though to inform you to the truth she had true feelings for him even if he didn't really notice her, she noticed him. Now you may say that is not hard but it is when he is so grouchy and harsh to all students. She saw something else in him... what it could be is something to question."

"Fool man that he has become wouldn't know a gifted, beautiful woman that was standing before him if she was naked, he would just walk past her or proceed to lecture her on her actions leading her to getting sick," the lord said honestly. "It is admirable but not leading to romantic situations often. I assume you dabbled into this..."

"I simply exploided a situation that was in development, the girl was falling for him but with his attitude towards her right now, well, she is vunuarable and he is taking advantage of this and not in a good way, I would ask you to speak to him but that could just lead to an explosion that I wish not to fix," she sighed.

"I may be able to help, she must be a beauty or at the very least very smart..." the lord's eyes seemed to spark with hope.

"She is gifted I can say that without being too much a teacher favoring her student," she said with all honesty.

"I want to see her," he said suddenly.

"Only through the crystal..." she answered quickly.

He grinned and knodded. He got up to follow her to the ball that was set behind her desk in the back.

She focused on the ball and worked to find the girl who was sitting at her desk with her head down and crying alone.

"He did that didn't he," he sighed as he watched the girl who wiped her eyes dry and got up to answer the door.

"He was hard on her today but nothing to worry about," she said as they continued to watch. Sue had switched to a smiling face as her friends came in with hands full of snacks and laughing and talking. She showed them she had been studying and blamed her allergies for her eyes being red. They made a circle and began reviewing school work, at least two of them were, Virginia was sitting on the bed snacking and talking with them as the other two sat there and worked.

"She helps others study?" he said with a smile, "Yes, she will be good for this family... work at keeping them together... I was skeptical and really I still am but right now prove me wrong..." he turned to walk out of the office, "I do dislike being proven wrong so I hope you know how to do this with making me feel like I won..." with that he was gone.

Potsdam returned to her desk and plopped into her chair, was she getting too old for this?!

(I was worried that I had made Grabby a little whiny ...but really he is still a kid at heart right?)

With everything said and done there was still much for Potsdam to worry about. She kept up with students by using the crystal ball most of the time and every now and then she would go in person to see how things were going on an individual manner.

It was close to that time of year again and the students would starting to think only of love or something equivalent to such an idea. She sighed at the thought of the students being in good moods because someone else cares about them in a special way.

She eyed the calendar hesitantly as there was much to do prior to that time. Setting up each class with a way to supply valentines, the order would have to be made soon... then there was the exam that would make for an interesting event, no monsters this time it would be more for problem solving and testing the water of reactions. Though this is what she had in mind that didn't mean that she was extremely clear on how she would test them in this manner though there was plenty of time to plan for it.

She walked over to the window and observed with a keen eye of what was going on around her students. She had known that several students were courting for the time being and if the rumors were correct the most famous couple at the moment was Minnie and Kyo. Though this was not the most interesting couple in the school it was the most popular especially since Sue and Hieronyous were established in a secret marriage, well, secret from the student body.

She grinned and waved back at students that had noticed her and greeted her by waving at her window. The students were not as troublesome as others had been in the past. She had been worried at one point that Sue would have been seduced to something of a more sinister nature but that fell through on a simple misunderstanding. With a simple gleeful giggle she was lost in thought of all the possibilities. Though she did feel terrible about the situation of Donald if she had not interfered then it might have been possible with the permission from Virginia that Donald and Sue would have been an excellent couple, they had potential as good friends and prankster partners, they could feed off of each others energy and make great witch and wizard together, they could have made some interesting breakthroughs.

"pity," she said allowed as she turned back to her desk to finish reviews some of the paperwork that was turned in with some of the projects that older students had been working on. She had been through many, simple ideas that were expanded to different ideas most not already unheard of, but there were a few that were promising and would probably take the student the rest of the semester to prove.

After finishing making annotations to all the papers and systematically making sure all the wards were up via that wonderful crystal ball, she turned in for the evening.

The next morning she went to all the classes and handed back all the papers with groans and moans most of the students knew what they were getting into when they were getting their papers backs. The library would be packed for a while because they would need to make corrections and figure out what they did wrong. The few proud students would continue on their experiments and exams.

The younger students didn't have to bother with any of this stress, their focus was to be that of studying and making sure they would be be ready for the exam was going to be coming up.

She returned to her desk for the afternoon and was working on schematics for the exam. She was in a mode of true genius when there was a loud bang on the door. She soon felt the idea flutter away from her as she answered slightly annoyed with the lost of this great plan, "Yes?"

Hieronyous entered solemnly and seemed to glide into the chair before her. He sat there for a moment before saying anything and then sighed, "The valentines this year..." he took a breath, "should I make the proposal to the treasurer so that they could chose what is best for the student body or should we just go with the usual order?"

She eyed him carefully, "You know very well that you should allow the treasurer to make that choice. It is up to her to fulfill her duty and make the best decision for the class that will make them the most money while still allowing the custom to be enjoyed for everyone. Hieronyous, you of all people keep to the idea of them doing this themselves, why change it?"

"I just assumed that the treasurer would not be up to such affairs right now," he was grumbling.

"Fearful that she would send you one?" she couldn't help but grin evilly at him, "I assure you that she is smarter then that and besides that she is extremely friendly to everyone she would send one to all of us that have helped her along the way so what does it matter what she picks?"

"It is a matter she won't really participate in because of certain situations so I was just making the choice easier," he said simply.

Potsdam was unsure what he was getting at now and made her face blank, "Life is not easy and we should not make it easy on them if they made decisions for themselves. She needs to make the choice." She was trying to return to the work on her desk when he got up to leave, but she stopped a moment and sighed, "If she asks you for help please be kind."

"Why would I be unkind to a student asking for help?" he asked this, but didn't turn toward her.

"She is unfamiliar with our customs and she is probably fearful of doing anything wrong to upset her, so I am informing you that if she asks you if you could be kind enough to inform your wife what is expected of her. It isn't the same worries that you have so just simply listen to what she asks."

"I will inform her if she asks," he answered back as he shut the door behind him.

She shook her head with a bit of displeasure as she looked at her work. The girl had a lot of work to do with him to even give him a chance to get anything out of him other then bitterness.

Potsdam had been struggling with getting into a good mood after a class of first years had decided on changing a leaf into a pixie. The little thing was extremely difficult to catch and she had made them stay after class to clean up what the pixie had done. When the student was scolded in a manner, they explained that they had been curious about changing an inanimate object to an animate object, but never thought what one thing could want to turn into. She then had to lecture them on the fact that all objects had energy, and may just want to turn into something else, in that situation they being first years,it was not a surprise that the leaf had more power than them. Once they apologized and the room was cleaned up she allowed them to go without detention. After all, they were just being curious and at least it was curious somewhere that she could stop the disaster from getting any worse.

As she entered her office there was a surprise there. A woman was standing behind her desk and was looking over the plans that were drawn out for the exams for the students;she had a pen and seemed to be making notes on the actual work. "Grand Master!" Potsdam was actually very surprised by this woman's visit. "Is there something wrong??"

The woman looked up and was smiling, the lines of her smile were deeper then Potsdam's and the woman was quite a bit older then Potsdam. She was lost in thought a moment and then spoke, "Dear Friend, does something have to be wrong for me to visit my friend?" She had curls that were so tight she almost looked like a doll, her eyes bright yellow and her height was something that people noticed first as she was short, she was even mistaken for a child at times, just before they saw her face really, but this did not prevent the woman from projecting herself as a grand creature, even appearing larger than that of a dragon.

"No, of course not, but if I would have known I would have had your favorite treat made and a cup of coffee!" Potsdam said as she walked up and gave the woman a tight hug. "At least we can have coffee!" She walked to the back of the office and put a kettle on.

"Pleasant idea!" the woman said as she moved from the spot behind the desk and sat before Potsdam as if she was one of the students. "Those plans of yours are so extreme. I often wonder how so many of your students make it through your exams, between you and Hieronyous, it is a miracle any students make it to the last year here, but I can't complain, you have some of the greatest wizards and witches make it out of here! I mean they survive the most interesting events and are able to come back and tell us! Several of those students are on the council..." She continued explaining what had been going on and how the old students are doing in their fields.

"Surely this is not why you have come?" Potsdam said as she got up and grabbed the kettle to refill her old friend’s cup.

"You are right, I came to see how the girl is doing," she said straight forward. "How she is handling such a situation as a wild seed and all."

Potsdam raised an eyebrow up and looked at her unsure of the situation, "Of course if you want to ask her yourself you could, but I hadn't received any complaints. To be honest this girl is so willing to do things on her own that I wouldn't know it would be an issue, I don't watch a single student the whole time, you know that. You could have used the crystal without me here, I would not have mind especially as the grand master, there is no stopping you from doing so, and I am simply a humble servant."

"Potsdam, do not worry, there is nothing wrong, I just wanted to see her," the woman said and moved to the ball. "I would not have used this device if you weren't here?! I am not cruel or in such disbelief of you that I would invade your devices. You designed this crystal and charged it yourself why would I be so disrespectful? Even as close friends as we are, I wouldn't do that my friend, but now that you are here I will gladly look through and see how the school is doing." She gently touched and focused on the ball. Her eyes changed as the images changed and she seemed to absorb the information before her.

"So what is going on this day?" Potsdam came walking over to see what she saw.

"Most of them are worried about the exam and one of the girls is fretting about a guy that she doesn't know what to do with," the grand master said with a head shake.

"So what is wrong?" Potsdam asked looking at the same image, it was Minnie talking to Pastel about the issue but she wasn't using names. "That isn't her,my friend."

The woman broke contact with the ball, "What? Really? She is super intelligent, elegant, and seems like something he would be interested in!"

"No, really she isn't," Potsdam touched the ball. She looked through the school quickly and found Sue studying in her dorm. "This is her."

The grand master focused on the ball and watched quietly.

Sue hadn't turned her face around to look over at anything so only her hair was seen, but as she shifted to go answer the door that had been knocked on. She was laughing and smiling as one of the students seemed to be asking for something, she moved to her desk and went through it, pulling out some notes she handed them off to the student and waved them off and then returned to the book, but laid her head on the book and sighed. She seemed frustrated with something that she was studying.

The grand master gasped a moment but then calmed down and turned to Potsdam surprised, "Was that on purpose or was it really an accident?"

"She is not familiar with anything, not the story, not the girl, and not him," Potsdam said sadly.

"SO this girl has no clue she looks like her?!" The grand master rubbed her neck. "So he doesn't really realize it does he?"

"No and if he has he hasn't showed that he thinks she does, but that might explain why he is so hard on her," Potsdam thought about it for a moment and smiled. "That just makes the mess even better!"

"Well, it can but at the same time more difficult really," the woman returned to the chair and pondered for a while as they sipped their coffee in silence. "He needs to fall for her!"

"I agree but we can't do anything," Potsdam smiled as the grand master agreed with her, made the whole mess simpler. "I will inform her when I think appropriate about his history and see what she does but let them try on their own."

"I agree, this doesn't mean that I side with the Lord, but that boy has been through far too much to be left alone," the grand master's smile brightened the whole room. "And to think that this poor girl has a thing for him still!"

"Yes, even though the spark can die quickly," Potsdam noted quickly. "I hope that we can water it and make it grow."

"Throw her a curve ball and make him see her solve it," the grand master finished her cup and smiled, "If you need help on that I would be glad to assist, playing a cupid could be fun!"

Potsdam was so happy that her friend had come to visit but was relieved once she left after an evening of talking of memories and drinks. The truth was though she was her best friend she was still the grand master. This woman was responsible for the events that happened to the school on this continent so she was often stressed and rather grumpy when she was in her role. So seeing her and her be in a good mood was a pleasant surprise, even with her visit in general was a surprise. The woman loved mischief just as much as Potsdam, did herself. The woman cared about her people so to know that everyone was trying to make them happy made for an interesting situation, plus if the person is being stubborn this made the grand master want to dabble in the scenario herself.

It was interesting that the Grand Master had realized that the girl was similar to a child that was lost long ago. It was not anyone's fault in all honesty, but in the end a life was snuffed and people suffered. She had not really thought about the fact they they were similar and maybe this was why he was so hard on her, but in the end one can only assume this information.

She was going to have a lot to do the next day and needed her sleep. She stretched out in the darkness of her room and soon found that the silence had guided her to drift off, she had been exhausted and hadn't even realized it.

The next day the students were careful not upset her again. They listened and took notes, when questions were asked it was done in a polite manner. She was quite surprised by this change in their attitude, though she hadn't been terribly angry at them but maybe her just being upset made them realize that they didn't want to disappoint her. This put a hop in her step as the classes finished off. She was now in such a good mood that there was nothing that could possibly upset her.

She went to her office and took a pick at her crystal ball. The general checking how students were doing led to an interesting surprise to see that Hieronyous with Sue speaking. It started with the pricing of the valentine's day items but Sue got the nerve to ask about their marriage. GOOD FOR HER! she cheered in the back of her mind as she continued to watch. He decided to hear her out on the whole thing and answered with short and to the point statements. He was not even giving a little for the situation and of course he had to lay down ground rules about her and how he would most likely not address her in public as that would reveal everything. She was a bit sadden by this fact and even Potsdam felt a bit sorry for this as well, because one's name is connected to ones soul and here he was denying that little bit of her. When they were finished he left her there in silence.

Potsdam returned to her desk and began finishing the last of the plans for the exam. They would get a new surprise with this one and hopefully they all would be ready for the situation that would occur. She didn't want to scare them but at times they would have to learn not to just trust their eyes. She was giggling to herself when there was a knock at the door.

"yes?" she was still grinning while the door opened.

"The request from the student officer's for the valentines," Hieronyous said bring papers to her desk.

"Oh yes, leave them there," she said as she clasped her hands together. "Well?"

He grinned at her evilly, "Truly passionate marriage ... keep this up and how could I ever leave her!?"

She frowned, "Hieronyous, you know how to ruin a great mood, why?"

"Because if I am really miserable then someone else should be to," he growled.

"Hasn't she done anything to betray you and yet you still act like this?" Potsdam sighed. "She gives you all the respect you request, she completes her job and she takes care of other people and events. Doesn't she deserve some kind of credit for that?"

"Minnie does the same thing, she doesn't expect praise all the time," he said with attitude.

"That is because we all praise her," Potsdam sounded almost bored, "She is great at everything and only finds boys a difficult subject and even then she goes to Sue to talk about her problems with that. So how does one expect something when they get it all the time?"

"Touche," he sighed. "Nothing is wrong with the way I treat her, if she keeps this up and can handle the stress then she is a better student than I thought." He walked out after that comment.

Potsdam shook her head as a response, "but how is she suppose to know that if you don't tell her?"

She returned to the exam and looked over the notes that her friend had made. They were good comments and opinions on how things should be executed for the students to be tested but not overwhelmed. That woman, never wanted to teach but loved to torture students with exams.

(You guys are so sweet to me!! -grins- I am just happy that you all are enjoying it! That is always the most important thing to a writer.)

It was a day before the exam and Potsdam had just come from the dungeon after setting everything up for the exams. She was in a good mood as always. The setting up took less time then she thought it would and then making one of her seniors go through the freshman's exam was just a sight for her. The poor student had not been in such an environment in a long while so when he ran through the testing he managed to just blow up the wall. She chuckled as she thought back to his face of "Ooppsss, sorry Potsdam, I didn't even think to check for traps..." She shook her head and repaired everything, she just reminded him that not everything was a fair run for their money and that maybe he should go over his first year notes.

As she walked back to her office she was stopped by a rather panicked Sue. The poor girl bumbled out a few words, but fed up with the struggle of understanding she took Potsdam's hand and guided her to Virginia who was laying on her bed desperately ill.

Potsdam explained that she would do something quickly. She whispered a few words and soon had the nurse coming with a wheelchair to take the child so that she can be treated.

The girls followed for a while trying to ask Potsdam to give them definite answers. She shooed them away explaining she would inform them that she would inform them as soon as she found out something so they need to go back and study for their exam.

Once she made sure that they returned to their dorm she went off to check on Virginia. The poor girl had been prone to illness ever since she was small. The professors had to keep an eye on her as in some situations a simple cold could be crippling to her, she could be sick for a few days to weeks. They all had to be careful with her and make sure that she could recover safely while allowing her the privacy to be able to tell those that she trusts what was really happening.

"She will be fine now, we got it early, she had done well this year," the nurse came over and handed Potsdam the medical chart. "She was lucky they found her, think on it the poor dear."

"It is great that she has friends that would care so much to get someone quickly instead of trying something themselves," she read through everything, she had a cold nothing more, she was very hyper and could have over tired herself.

The nurse nodded with agreement, "Oh she will be missing the exam so that she can recover tomorrow."

"Oh that's not going to make Hieronyous too happy," Potsdam said as she handed the chart back and sighed, "He will still want to give her detention so that they can go over what she missed."

"Oh how cruel, she didn't chose to get sick!" the nurse got huffy about the whole situation.

"No, but he is disciplinarian for a reason and I will not get in way of his judgement for the students unless it is truly unfair," she sighed as she glanced over at the now sleeping Virginia. "She had been slacking in some of her classes so this would be a good thing for her anyway."

"If that is the case, I guess then you are right," the nurse shook her head and returned to her seat next to the patient.

"I am leaving, may everything go well," Potsdam nodded to the nurse who was now focusing on the girl.

Potsdam was rather worried about the situation and walked over to the Wolf hall, she went through carefully as there were points where the boys had boob trapped spots waiting for victims to walk right through their lair. She moved through the center of the hall disarming everything as she walked past their toys.

When she reached the right door, she knocked gently.

"Yes?" the tall young man came to the door, he was smiling.

"William, dear, could we talk?" Potsdam asked gently.

"Of course," he ducked back and then returned to close his dorm door. "We can walk and talk." He held his arm out for her to take. He led the way to one of the gardens on campus.

"Dear, Your sister is sick right now," she said solemnly. "She will be alright, her friends found her before she got worse. The poor dear caught a cold and since she is always going I think she just weakened her immune system and caught it. Her friends are very much worried about her. It is not my place to talk of family issues or situations."

"I understand," he said looking in the sky. "It would be better that they know so that the next time she shows signs that she isn't well they can convince her to get the help she needs before it goes this far."

Potsdam smiled gently at him, "It is whatever you think is best. I just wanted to inform you of the situation. You could go see her later as I know how fond of you she is."

"I will go after our walk, but let us enjoy this," he said and they walked for what seemed like an hour, he didn't seem to want to let her leave him alone, he had much on his mind but he had to work this out on his own.

She excused herself after they had walked the garden twice. She would need to rest up as the exam would take a lot of attention, especially to make sure none of the children hurt themselves.

(That compliment is too good for me. XD You all are so nice to me. I was just hoping to make something that fulfilled the need of some kind of a behind the scenes, this is just what I was thinking about as I played the game! I just hope I wasn't the only one...)

Potsdam was excited about the exam today. The students were in for a big surprise. She assumed that many of the students would be caught by one trap or another so seeing the students fill up the detention rooms would not be surprising.

The seniors all passed with flying colors, their exams now focused on the skills they honed was only a possible failure if they were not thinking when they took the exam.

The middle years students were hits and misses as they were in their final decisions of what would be their focus so there was much more of a random pattern here. The professors picked several of their strengths to see what would be the choice better for them.

The first years... well the first years were extremely interesting. There had been several exams that were specialized for one occasion or another.

Donald had been one of the first students in and he booby trapped the trap and moved it to the door so that when the key exploded from the box it was in the same room, he never even searched the rest of the maze.

Minnie searched through all possibilities she figured out the monster that had been chasing her was an illusion and that there was a mechanism that set of the trap and a key in the box. She disenchanted the box got the key and left, receiving all the merits.

Raven ignored the spirit and just pushed the boulder in every direction until she heard the click and went and got the key, she got her merits for getting out of the maze.

Ellen had been very interesting. She, like Minnie, checked everywhere disenchanted the illusion, found the mechanism in the floor without using the boulder and then disarmed it. Disarmed the chest and got the key, she received all her merits but didn't use as much magic as Potsdam liked. She would have to keep an eye on that one as she could be trouble.

Sue, ah Sue, her exam had been specially designed and not even Hieronyous had known what would happen. Sue went in and checked all the halls just as Minnie and Ellen had before but waiting for her was the illusion of the Manus that was Grabiner's family guardian. The girl stood there completely lost with what to do. She looked around seeing if any of us would do anything and with a sigh and a shrug she checked it causing the illusion to dissipate. She then moved the boulder till the sound clicked and then went to the chest that was now open, she grabbed the key and went to the door.

Potsdam waited as she walked out, she had been hoping the girl would ask about the spirit, but sighed gently when she inquired about Virginia, to which she informed the girl that she was okay and just wait and see.

One the exam was done she returned to her office, with a quick check at the crystal ball revealed that William had gone and seen the girls to give them information on his sister, their friend.

Good, she smiled as she returned the desk.

There was a heavy bang on the door and he came stalking in angry. He hadn't even waited for the usual welcome in. "What were you thinking by doing that?" Hieronyous had slammed his hands on the desk. "It is bad enough for the us to have to deal with this, did you have to prod her with it in the exams?!"

"She did well before handling a spirit," she was staring at where his hands had landed on the desk, "Though she had managed to end up married to you, she was still willing to stand up to the creature. I wanted to see if she would use your name now or simply attempt to get out of the situation herself."

"That is not a test that is you trying to lure her into doing something that is not her usual behavior," he barked at her. "Do not mess with the students in that manner. What if she could not figure it out?!"

"I do not here you complaining about the exploding chest with key in it or the mechanism having to be triggered by a boulder being moved on it. In fact I do not hear you complaining about the other creatures the students had to face," Potsdam lifted her coffee mug and took a sip. "If you are going to complain about the exam it better be for the benefit of all the students and not one you favor."

"I do not favor her, I would think that you know me better then that," he growled. "You put her at a possible disadvantage than the other students who only had the stress of a creature they had not seen before, you put Sue up against an illusion that previously tried to kill her."

"Life is not fair, Hieronyous, we are to make these children the best in the wizarding world and at times we have to put our fingers in the wound to get them to heal up and get better or nurse them to heal and get them out of here," Potsdam glared at him. "Your complaint has been noted but let it be known that I will use this situation again when testing this girl. She has more potential then you or I can give her credit for."

Hieronyous snarled at her for a moment and left quickly.

She shook her head, she had been expecting him to be a little upset but not to the point that he challenged her decision. Then slowly a grin appeared on her face, gotcha ya!

(lol. sweet pic!)

Potsdam sat back in her office and relaxed, this day was not extremely busy and most of the students left for the mall, so the few that were here didn't need her watching over them. That didn't mean that the crystal ball didn't sit there awaiting it's use.

She had moved to the window in her office and sat on the nook that was there for that reason. She had cracked the window a bit so she could feel the crisp winter air as she drank her coffee, the contrast allowed her system a nice shock that gave her a sense of the nature around. She seemed to be dazing off when she noticed two students walked hand in hand and whispering to each other.

The order for the valentines had been made and she had already received confirmation that the delivery would be with in a day or so.

When the couple noticed Potsdam they waved at her nervously and swiftly moved out of her view. She thought on this action for a moment and returned to her desk and looked over her lecture schedule, she had already blocked out that time for the whole day. Good, she thought with a grin, I didn't forget that they need this. It was only once a year but with this being a type of boarding school there were no parents to watch, lecture or influence the children's decisions so it was up to professors to at least guide them to make the right decisions for themselves. She often thought that the children were fine on their own but knowledge was a powerful tool and they needed that tool in life so better to explain this to them now then have someone claim ignorance when something unplanned happened.

The knock on the door pulled Potsdam out of her trance of a different time. She was already smiling when she answered, "Yes?"

Minnie came in she looked exhausted, "I came to check on the status of the valentines because we will be selling them on the tenth and we need a day to put together what was ordered and get ready to make the list of how to order for people..."

"Minnie, when was the last time you slept?" Potsdam said crossing her arms before her as she leaned back in her chair.

"I sleep every night, Professor," Minnie said with a sad smile.

"Oh, then it must be that you have been crying?" Potsdam needed her to say something for her to physically get involved because if she doesn't ask then she can only assume that the girl handling it fine.

"Oh it was just... a bit of trouble with some homework and I got frustrated is all," she said rubbing her hands together, uncomfortable with the conversation.

"Okay Darling," Potsdam smiled softly at the girl before her, "The items should be in by tomorrow, it will be a special delivery so I will let you know when it does come in."

Minnie nodded as was heading out quickly when Potsdam said her name, "Remember deary there are friends that can help you out when you feel you can't talk to a professor." The girl smiled and shut the door quickly.

This was the side of relationships that Potsdam dreaded and there was nothing to do other then just be there for the student. She needed to come in on her own and try to fix the problem herself, if there was a real terrible issue Potsdam hoped that the girl would go to someone... though Minnie was all about solving issues herself.

We'll see what she does and who she goes to.

I've been reading closely along to this story. And I absolutely love it! You've done such a wonderful job. I really didn't intend to actually leave a comment for it. I haven't played this game in a while, I kinda burned myself out on it when I first got it. But reading this has made me want to play it again.

(>.< *drools* neat work, just remember that posting in the forums can be viewed by all, so if it pushes past pg-13... might be safe to sent the link to people. *but I am totally enjoying this!!*)

Potsdam was quite content with the results of the exams. As usual Hieronyous had double the notes on the students and how they should be drilled on their weakness so that it is not exploited later on. Once through all the professors' notes and statements, she felt it time for her to have break.

She had been locked away the past few days with the exams. Minnie dragged Sue into her office so that they could work on the valentine's items for their group. Minnie still looked exhausted and Sue was trying everything to get the girl to relax a little, even if she just talked. They started to get into a rhythm so Potsdam left the girls in the office and instructed the brownies to get the girls some refreshments.

Potsdam found so release of the usual stress of the day as she walked the halls and listened to the children were studying, practicing or playing. She had remembered her days as a student and found herself smiling as she wondered into one of the other classrooms.

The officers for juniors was working on their valentine's items. They had been talking amongst themselves when Potsdam entered.

"Oh hello darlings," Potsdam flashed a sweet smile and looked over their work with curiosity, "This is what you guys have decided as your items?"

The treasurer grinned as he looked up, "Yeah, we figured with this combination we can't lose!"

"Can't lose?" Potsdam asked.

"Yeah," one of the other students answered, "We heard about the freshman class! They out sold all the other classes and we, upperclassmen, can't allow this to happen!"

"There are more freshman than any other group, how do you purpose on winning?" she was now curious with the students' determination.

"Oh yes, there are more," the treasurer grinned, "But how many of those students are actually in a relationship? For that matter how many of them have the cash like we do?"

Potsdam thought about that for a moment and smiled, "They are surprisingly well prepared with such situations and several of the first years are from some prominent families, but it is worth a shot. I will be cheering you all on. May the best class win?"

"It is all about us," they cheered.

Potsdam took this time to leave them to their stacks of valentines. She found herself wandering through all the halls listening to the banter of students as teachers alike.

The girls were all set with their items to sell when she returned to her office.

"Seems like there is a competition going on, girls," Potsdam said as she returned to her desk.

"Oh?" Minnie raised a brow as she finished looking over the paper work. "What would that be?"

"I didn't know this would be a competition?" Sue seemed to take the news a little unnerving, "If I would have known that then maybe I would have decided something different."

Minnie reached down and grabbed Sue's hand, "No, no, this is perfect, affordable and cute, all the students can get something with the way that you decided to design the items. With that in mind..."

"They are hoping to out sell you girls," she said as she noticed that the girls had separated everything into three boxes, friendly, romantic, and funny.

"Out sell us huh?" Minnie thought over it for a moment, "Won't happen."

Sue blinked at the girl next to her, "Well it could, as first years not many people are dating, in relationships, or..."

"Sue, you covered that with the decision of valentines for all crowds, the funny can be anyone, friendly are for ones close to you and well romantic is for that special someone, if they want more they can always go to the mall," Minnie was standing proud and was extremely excited, "Well we better go get the table set up it is almost time..." she stopped talking for a moment, "Sue you take all this out," she handed the girl a large box. "I will need to get something I forgot..."

Sue nodded and waited for Minnie to leave before turning to Potsdam. She watched the door shut and then moved over tot the desk, "Thank you for the treats, they made us feel better and as you noticed Minnie seems in a better mood now. Though I wonder what she forgot?" She struggled with the box and the door as she left and then smiled as the door followed her closed.

Potsdam was curious about that as well, the crystal ball glowed invitingly as she turned to watch what was going on.

She tuned in and decided to follow Minnie's magical signature. The girl rushed through the halls till she found the right door and knocked. Jacob came out and they spoke for a while and then he shut the door behind him and followed Minnie.

"Oh this will be interesting," Potsdam grinned as she watched them gathered tables and chairs to set up for their selling spot.

As they reached the courtyard and Sue was waiting, Sue seemed to feel awkward with those two working together so close. When she was called over to set up the order forms and pens and receipts Sue did it quickly so she could go to her own table and wait alone. It was interesting as Sue did not want to make herself part of unusual situation that Minnie appeared to putting herself in.

"Waiting and watching is all I can do," she said as she returned to her desk to do some letters to the board.

((>.< I enjoy it, just watching out for all of us! Glad to see your work.))

Potsdam stared at the calendar and sighed. It wasn't that she didn't mind teaching the students about this subject it was just that she never wanted the consequences of their mistakes to be something she had to rule over.

It wasn't every year that students got into trouble but it seemed to happen in waves. It all starts with something small and simple then explodes into something that the professors would have to handle, this usually was because some student gets it in their mind that they can control the situation and tries to force the other into something they aren't ready for or something leads to another and two students are expelled because they have made some bad decisions, but wasn't that the situations of love?

She sat back and thought on it. Love? At this age and time could they believe in that? Love at first sight? Understanding that time to let someone go can be painful? This was something everyone dealt with but how one handled the situation was what made them grow. Whether that growth was a positive or negative effect for the students.

She looked at the calendar the 14th was a blessing and a curse to many. She eyed the crystal ball and pondered it carefully. WHO was worried about what dealing with this day?! The precognitive ability was just something that allowed one to see what is possible when options were available. In many cases people never looked at all options and thus she was able to predict what events would probably happen versus having to guess what choice she would have to think on.

Sue...

The girl's image flashed before her eyes, this girl was different. It was like she could see all possibilities, irrational and a little too untamed with her skills but that is why she was going to school right?

No, she thought slowly. This girl ... it was almost like she could see her options over the person's head, which allowed her to calculate what reaction she would want from that person.

She had watched the girl do this with her friends and others that were close to her, hell, she took a breath, even Hieronyous had slipped in the girl's web of decisions. Potsdam was often ahead of gifted students but this girl kept her on her toes because she made decisions at the last minute and often left this very experienced woman guessing on what was possible.

To see through her eyes would be interesting to say the least, Potsdam got up slowly, she couldn't do that without breaking laws that were set for protection so she would just listen in.

She walked over to the crystal ball and gently allowed her hands to glide over the slick and cool material that formed the beautiful and devastating device. It could be used in many manners, most not kind to those around but if used for the right purpose and the user had to be true to themselves about that purpose then the device was controllable and no harm would happen.

She would think on her usage of this wonderfully mysterious device later on.

Hieronyous was pacing his room. He often did this when he was working on a thesis for his presentations to the council. Something was off about it though he seemed thinking something else over, then she heard it. "Sue.." the girl's name escaped his lips slowly, almost like a caress but she couldn't be sure. Suddenly he shot up and he walked over to his student book, "If she attempts to sent me anything then I shall take it out of her to teach her a lesson about respect." He scribbled notes by the girl's name but she couldn't read it from the angel she was at.

She sighed as she returned, damn that man, he made everything that Potsdam tried to do to make him happy harder to do.

She returned to the ball and laughed softly as Ellen and Virginia were talking in the room, "Did you send her one?"

"Yes, of course," they said at the same time.

Ellen smiled, "She made it affordable so we could send them to people we appreciate of course I did, she is a friend and is so nice to me even when I complain..."

Virginia nodded, "She makes me feel better about who I am so I definitely sent her one, hopefully she doesn't take it wrong."

Ellen raised an eyebrow, "Why would she?"

"Well she has been having a rough time lately," Virginia sighed, "She seems to have to disappear often and even then she spends lots of time studying on top of being treasurer, tell me you hadn't noticed she seems to be spreading herself thin?"

Ellen sighed, "Yeah, I just thought it was me... her side of the room almost looks like she doesn't sleep in the bed at times, but when she does she is out for a day or two."

Virginia smiled weakly, "We need to keep an eye on her like she does us or something bad is really going to happen... what if it already did and she can't tell us?!"

They eyed each other and laughed it off saying how it wasn't possible.

Potsdam grinned evilly, that would be useful for later on. She looked calendar and sighed again and returned to her desk just as Hieronyous came in beaming not even bothering to knock.

"Dropping off the money to you," he handed over the envelope that had the amount written on it.

"You are in a good mood," she raised a brow at him.

"They have done well again," he said almost cautious. "They are too good at this, those two work in some kind of strange harmony or if Sue is doing it all as Minnie is claiming then this girl has an interesting ability to read what people would find useful or something they needed."

"She is kind and listens to others, I am sure that is all," she sighed, he couldn't just compliment her.

"Doesn't matter, we out earned the other classes again..." he said.

"Not that it matters that there are more freshman then other classmates?" she said it as a matter of fact.

"No, that has nothing to do with it, thing about it," he said stone faced. "These students are the least likely to have someone to give something to."

"True... maybe they hoped to get a hug out of her again?" she slipped the comment in.

He sniffed a moment and grinned, "It is no business of mine on how she conducts her business practices as long as she is able to earn the money needed for her class to have an eventful year."

She smiled, "SO it does matter if they have a good year or not?"

"No, but I would rather them have something to brag about than complain about," he shut the door before she could get another word out.

Blast! Drat! That man was so sneaky when it came to getting out of situations at times. She had hoped to get him to flash some kind of emotion, preferably jealous so she knew maybe he really had felt something for the girl, but she was just going to have to work harder!

((Silly, I don't really have any issues with this... I mean I would never stop someone else's creativity. I don't see any problems and if the creators don't mind I would say go to town with it as I was simply using their characters to create an aftermath in the other story and in this one a behind the scenes of what Potsdam ponders!))

Potsdam got up extra early, worked on all the paperwork that was on her desk, making sure that it was completely clear and then stared at the circled date on her calendar.

With a sigh she pushed herself up and got several cups of coffee in her system before she went out to tackle the big issue that was at hand.

She entered the classroom with a soft smile on her face and started.

Hello, my rosy-faced lovebirds. Please, take your seats. Before we go on with our class work today, there's something important that we need to discuss. For many people, this is a sensitive subject. However, you are all young adults now, not children, and it is better for us to have this out in the open.

Potsdam reflected for a moment about the actual season of love and how these young ones would be experiencing it and in this instant she glowed softly with all happiness of their lives and new experiences,
"This is the traditional season for young romance, and we don't want to clip your wings. There are no school rules against love in any form."

She thought about all the forms that love came in and not to discriminate from any one form of this mysterious emotion she felt it best to cover all, "As long as you and the other person - or people- that you are with are enthusiastic about whatever you're doing, we will not intervene.'

"But keep any naughty business out of areas where those who have not consented might accidentally see you. And try not to get too distracted from your school work,"
she was very serious about this point as many students tended to slack off during this time of year and it would cost them an exam or two.

She couldn't stress this any more then this as she didn't want to put fear into the kids about experiencing things but there was a time that they had to understand that pushing someone could lead to a bad place,
"Know what you want and be sure everyone else does too. If anyone isn't enthusiastic, whether it's a kiss or a dance or something else, stop and wait."

Her face become engraved with lines and her eyes darkened, this was an issue that they would need to truly understand as this was not only a terrible burden to put on them at this age it could be dangerous for both involved, there was a lot of responsibility that came from the acts that happened with love and this was one that came with a high cost,
"Now there is one other matter that would require punishment. As students, you are not allowed to carry children. Breaking this rule will result in equal punishment for all parties concerned- and we will know who you are."

"Trusting your partner is an important part of romance, but in this case take your own precautions as well. If you don't think your green magic is up to the task or you have any further questions, please come and talk to me after class,"
She grinned as she said the last bit, most of them wouldn't take her serious for fear that they would get in trouble. The magic community was extremely open to all kinds of love and this school tried to show the children how open it could be, but it would take time. A few would come to talk to her and once they realized that she could be trusted only then would the rest come. It happened every year and this year was no different... she paused and eyed Sue for a moment and grinned wickedly, except for that one difference and though she was hoping for something grand this poor girl was going to be at a disadvantage more so then the other students. It would be unfair but such was life at the very least she was married.

Now let's get back to the magic!

(I'm glad you got to read something new from the game. Sorry everyone, I haven't been updating too much with me being down and out sick plus getting ready for a fundraiser...took up my time, but I didn't forget you all!)

Potsdam had gotten up early on Valentine's day. She wasn't troubled or anything she just wanted to watch the brownies as they would zoom in and out making sure each student who received a card and candy received their items.

She would also get a few valentines herself from a few admirers or jokers. It didn't matter it was nice of the students to do that for her.

As she sat at her desk, she was startled with a bang on her door.

"Yes?" she shook her head as one of the brownies dropped several gifts at her desk and zoomed into the person coming in.

It got up, dusted itself off and bowed then took off to continue it's job.

"Hieronyous, what brings you so early?" Potsdam smiled as a brownie came with a pot of coffee for her. "Thank you," she smiled at the brownie as he clomped in and sat down. "Coffee?"

He frowned at her, "No, that drink is rather unpleasant. I never understood how you could enjoy that bitter liquid." He shrugged as he relaxed, "You haven't tried to put any ideas in that child's head, correct?"

Potsdam grinned as she eyed some of the valentines and grabbed a sweet little valentine with a little bee on it saying, "bee mine...Valentine." She smiled and took the lollipop off and opened it to show him, "Oh like this one that Sue sent me?"

He raised a brow, "What a ridicules idea, to send teachers valentines. What is she thinking of?"

"I think that she is showing that it doesn't matter that we all are on her mind and that she appreciates us," she said as she popped the lollipop in her mouth and smiled.

He grumbled a moment, "It is a ridiculous thing and she is a foolish student who knows no boundary to what can lead her into more trouble. You would think that..."

Potsdam glared at him and popped out the lolli before she continued, "She is your wife. She is kind and considerate of everyone around her. Even to you she shows the most respect to."

"It's fear not respect," he growled at her.

"No it isn't and if it was I wouldn't blame her, you can be quite frightful when you desire to be," Potsdam sighed. "Don't worry, she is smart enough to leave you alone this day."

Hieronyous grinned slowly, "We'll see if you are right..." he got up and left avoiding the brownies this time.

Potsdam smiled. If he had seen the order list then he would have known she did not order him anything. But the girl did order everyone else one.

She walked over and touched the crystal ball gently. This would be an interesting day and she would be interested in watching all day what these students would be doing in response to receive their valentines.

((I am extremely sorry about the terrible updating. ToT Here is a little something. Got to get the script for the New Year's celebration that way I am not adding when not needed.))

Valentine's day went on with no trouble... at least for most it was nothing to be dramatic about. The items were given out and the students were happy with what was received.

Potsdam sat staring at the crystal ball. She shook her head and sighed as she got up and moved to the window in her office.

The scene would have been sweet if it had been taken as such but it wasn't. Minnie was completely embarrassed by Kyo's valentine items. He had practically drowned the poor girl in her room with gifts of flowers, cards and candies.

Poor Pastel was even effected by it. The poor girl couldn't even get out of the room. Her stuff was crushed by the volume of items that Minnie had received.

It took them the most of the day to just clear everything up and make it manageable. Minnie even gave out the candies to all the girls in her dorm. She threw away a lot of the cards not even attempting to read them.

Potsdam made a note not to get in the middle of the children's relationships unless there was someone getting hurt or was in danger. And yes, this was an obsessive situation she would not stick her neck out until the girl asked her for help.

A knock at the door.

"Yes?" Potsdam said with a smile as she turned to the door.

Hieronyous came in soberly, "You were correct."

She raised a brow at him, "About what?"

He growled something inaudible and sighed, "About the girl. She didn't make a fool of me, she sent me nothing."

"I told you she would respect you as a person not just a teacher," she turned back to the window. "Though you do not sound so happy about it? Does it disappoint you?"

"WHAT?!" he was taken back and became slightly angry, "You insult me to even suggest that I was waiting for something from..."

"Your wife?" she said with a soft smile, "No? I would be a little hurt but knowing you... a punishment would have been dealt to the poor girl even if she had confessed her true feelings."

"That is inappropriate and you know that. This relationship is that of one of circumstance," he stared at the woman before him and glared. "Besides I would treat it just I would any other childish prank."

"Of course," she nodded and turned toward him, "And this is probably why your wife didn't send you anything. She knew how you felt and again as I said before respected you."

"You make it sound like this girl is wise beyond her years," he hissed sourly at her.

"She could be, with our culture many things happen," she said and returned to her desk. "She attempts everything to please everyone around her, knowing what to say to make them feel better, happy, or challenge them morally to stop from doing something they would regret. It is almost like she is an oracle, even if she hasn't shown this has a main skill it could be laying dormancy, but who knows. I just find it interesting that she goes so far to make those around her happy."

He eyed her for a moment, "I will keep an eye on her because if you are correct this could lead to some troubling situations for her."

"Of course," she nodded in agreement. "Just don't let her know you are watching out for her. She could mistake it for you caring..."

He scowled at her and got up and left.

She took his look with a grain of salt. He cared about her more then the fool would let on. Yes, he was a fool right now because he didn't realize what had been handed to him on a platter.

She looked at the pile of cards she had received and smiled and with a cheerful and loud voice, "To the kitchen! I need to make something to give to all those darlings that decided to send me something!" She rolled up her sleeves as she walked out of her office. Maybe she would make them her famous fudge?
