Madeleine Valois is a prince's companion. Her job is to guide and advise him, to dress him up and make him look good so that he can land a royal bride.

It is her responsibility to keep him out of trouble - not to let him walk blindly into a political minefield, not to let him get arrested for a crime he didn't commit, and definitely not to let him fall in love with her.

Unfortunately, things don't seem to be going according to plan...

This game is being written. Don't ask me when it will be finished, I have no idea. It is pure visual novel, no minigames, and even more novel-y than most (longer descriptive passages in a special display so you don't have to click-click-click constantly).

It is "low" fantasy in the sense that there are no wizards and dragons, and no world-threatening evil demon armies on the move. This is all about court intrigue. Expect the plot to take some unexpected turns!

Even that man's hair glows. This sounds intriguing and I'm definitely all for it. Also already OTPing GastonXMadeline and CassidyXMadeline in my head.

Between finding out this is back on and hearing that Wolf's Hall is moving forward I feel like throwing my hands up and yelling whee. Super excited.

I love the sound of this already. I hope you take some amazing original spins on this (I've seen similar starts before, but I know better than to think you'll disappoint). The art is absolutely gorgeous as well! Oscar's definitely not my usual type, but he's soooo pretty

I think Callum has already solidified himself as my favorite from first impressions though. And Gaston? Kills me. I hope he turns out to be interesting, I'd love to see him be something more serious than just comic relief. All in all, looking forward to this!

BTW - I am once again in the market for people with the time on their hands to read development scripts and make detailed commentary. Don't volunteer if reading early scripts will poison your interest in the project later, though! Stuff changes a lot as themes coalesce.

Any and all of the above. Except historical, because it's not set in anything resembling real history, but verisimilitude, yes.

I mentioned in another thread, I'm likely to implement changes and pass things to different eyes at different times for testing, so lack of response doesn't mean rejection... if I use everyone up I won't have anyone left later!

Hanako, I post on lemmasoft forums as lemuel, and what I said there still applies:
If ever you need a beta reader for this game after April 25 (ugh, exams), please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have a fairly advanced vocabulary (although not at Lovecraft levels), a good knowledge of when to use and abuse grammar, and greatly enjoy reading and editing stories of political intrigue.

I am also capable of writing critiques and evaluations of characters. Although I am not studying English literature in University, I got good marks when I took it. I am studying history, and while I am ware that this game is not historical, perhaps I could use my knowledge of analogous situations (intrigues, plots, etc.) to help evaluate the story.

When will you need editors?

Can't really answer that because it varies! When I hit particular points I like to get someone to check over what I've done, especially if I have a specific question in mind that needs answering. The most recent batch I was checking a characterisation change and it seems to have worked out all right for now, I think.

I am currently at work on Gaston's plot branch - when I finish a first draft of it I may be interested in pulling in a Gaston fanclub member to have a look.

But I don't know when that will be.

Long time reader and writer of fantasy and sci fi. I'm not the best with grammer, but I'm improving steadily. What I'm really great at is those pertinent questions and hanging ideas. I remember details well and I've been learnging to political really well.
I've got a great sense of logic and common sense.
Plus I've really wanted to look into making my own games and if helpping in this small way will give me an idea of what i'll need to do I'm so there.

Does it mean Im all alone? I don't like his sparkling powers, nor I loke his look or the overall impression. His will be the last path I will choose I soon as I get my hands on the game.
The sparkling makes me think of that abomination of a vampire - ftfu!
Hanako, in your next game you shall (and by that I mean pretty pretty please ;3) create male characters that will hold the true heart of the worrior. Sparkling is not a thing for a worrior neither the puffy wierd hair.

Anyway xD Just wanted to say that since I'm also doing script writting, story writting etc. If you need some help I can do that. I'm also a manga translator so I'm usually good with dialogues (I mean my job is to make those sound awsome and not crap) for all kind of characters starting from the stereotypical ones (like an typical uke, a tsundere, best friend,,... blah blah blah, and so on) up to less obvious ones (like a logically thinking 'not crybabies' female lead characters... apparently those actually exist!)

Just wanted to comment that I'll be looking forward to this when it comes out. It looks very different from the sort of games I'm used to playing, the art is gorgeous, and the brief descriptions of the characters (though I'm sure actual gameplay will reveal much more depth) seem interesting.

Also, count me as one of the Gaston fans. (At least, unless/until game events make me appreciate someone else more). He looks entertaining!

This game, being entirely a visual novel without extra gameplay, is probably not going to go into a big testing cycle like Magical Diary and Long Live The Queen did. Most likely, when the game is finished there will be a brief beta period where the game will be on discount here on the forums.

Though a fair word of warning: when going in blind (ie. the first playthrough) my love interests always tend to die, or suffer horribly if at all possible. Always have to use a guide if I want to have a happy ending, which creeps the significant other out something fierce, let me tell you.

This one looks beautiful, Hanako! Can't wait to see it when it's released! I love courtly intrigue, so this looks right up my alley. I hope it's not as hard as Long Live the Queen, though--that one made me cry at points. (I have a low tolerance for frustration, though.)

Nah, this is just a visual novel. No stats, only choices. At the moment the only real difficulty is that getting onto the "minor" paths requires not just connecting with the minor character but also completely ignoring the major characters, who will otherwise tend to drag you into their storylines. If you manage to avoid both, you can end up Forever Alone, but you probably had to be trying to achieve that.

Production was delayed a lot because I was wrapped up in the Steam mess and there have been some issues with the art, so I still have no idea when this will be out or even when I will next be looking for beta-readers. The second minor path SHOULD be finished within the next month or two, PROBABLY.

I always find those characters that seem to have a cruel side to be more favorable than those that are sweet. Call me a masochist. <3 A little pain is good for the soul, and it makes it all the sweeter when one finds a soft center beneath that prickly exterior. ^o^ So, I think that Nazagi might be my favorite character, but I cannot be certain until I actually go through his path. I should protest that neither this nor LLTQ is technically a matriarchy.

LLTQ has gender-neutral inheritance; it's just coincidence that it's been a Queen multiple times in a row. If Elodie has a son he might be King.

The Royal Trap has a *weird* system which should be experienced in order to understand it. Thus not saying more at this point.

So, there are... a few people who have looked over what's been done already, but as always, the precise details are presumably subject to change.

So I was poking around The Royal Trap link. It made me really excited and oh so curious about so things! There is only one question I am allowed to ask without spoiling the game though. So, I wondering why intended for ages 13 and up?

I know most of your games say that at the bottom of the page, but I have played most of them and I still don't know why.

It's a quick shorthand way of saying that a game may include things like violence, death, rude language, discussion of alcohol or other drugs, sex, GLBT content, brainwashing, politics, so on and so forth.

Basically, some people and some parents see cartoon-looking characters and assume "This game is for kids!". I wince every time I see a reviewer going "Girly game, ew! Well, maybe my five-year-old niece will like it." Just.... gyah. I assume most kids who have the attention span to do all the reading will probably not be THAT disturbed by what they find, but...

I think we've had at least a few young players who found Fatal Hearts to be too scary for them, or whose parents freaked out when they saw blood and vampires onscreen. There've also been some shocked reviewers who discovered the swear words in Date Warp.

Basically, it's just a heads-up that I am not censoring myself down to the level that would pass as "child friendly" in my culture, so if you're either sensitive or screening games for your children you should take note.

Sadly that trailer's been done for months; it's just that I now bothered to upload it with better sound quality and link it on the page. Still waiting on the last bits of art! So it's at LEAST another week and that's only if angels come by and sprinkle magic dust. Hoping by the end of the month but I can't count on it.

So when I watched the trailer I saw eaither cassidy's dead body or a pink wig..................... Body, Wig, Body, Wig, Body, Wig, Body, Wig, Body, Wig,Body, Wig, Body, Wig, THERE MUST BE A CONNECTION! We really don't know much about this game. So I have a few theories, but the 2 that make the most sense is either we ahve a dead cassidy or a fake one. I know(think) that no matter what Cassidy is at (or near) the center of it!
