Re: Challenge and restricted runs

Tsunamiracle:
While it's been a very long time since I did them and I've forgotten the steps I took, a fun couple of challenges I did were trying to kill as many named characters as I could, and trying to get as many countries enraged with me as possible.
For the former, my record is fourteen characters who have names, with all but three having actual speaking lines and portraits (though not all showed up in this playthrough). I believe the only two killable characters that were spared were Togami and Sabine, and that's because setting up their deaths would spare many other lives. I'd like to try again to maximize deaths (and implicit deaths) of unnamed characters, too. Messing with the soldiers seems to be a a fast way to rack up deaths, but I don't have a good head for numbers so I just went the route of "recruit as many people as possible and let the naval battle sort em out".
On the latter, I think my biggest issue was surviving the naval fleetso that I could execute all the Shanjian POWs and enrage a bunch of unnamed countries. But I remember having a lot of trouble making that event work out while still passing other vital checks... My memory is not reliable, but I'm pretty sure that between the two challenges, I had more trouble with this. For the record, I ended up with four named countries attacking Nova, plus an unknown number of allies for one of those countries.
Tried this yesterday and I got 16 characters and four of them having neither portrait or lines (Assassine, Adairs grandfather, Emry and Zahra).
I assume you don't kill Evrad when you call the guards on week 14?
The first choice is executing
Brin vs executing the messenger and killing soldiers in the skirmish with Ixion. If you go for named characters, Brin is better since it triggers the Assassine and Banion.
The
woman on trial can be exectued. Archery enables to do it properly, though she gets cut down otherwise, which also counts.
The
assassine at the festival can be killed personaly. Dodging and disarming him gives even a choice of killing vs sparing, which further cements Elodies killing intent.
At the event, ordering
Banions execution is the best choice, since Lucille and Laurent can be executed later.
The agents can kill
Arisse, Julianna and the assassines family. Julianna seems to be the better choice, but killing Arisse opens up to (sort of) let Briony be killed, so it evens out. Killing Julianna restricts the Naval Battle (no magic, Arisses civil war further lowers your army).
The
Lumen Rouge also can be killed by having Julianna alive and you properly trained.
Adair can be led to his death by having him stay by his
grandfather, who can be blamed for it and executed.
Aside from fighting and executing Arisse,
Briony can be led to the forst and left behind. Granted, she kind of kills herself, but Elodie can get some responsibility for it if she accompanies her.
Elodie can test prisoners on the poisoned chocolate. Or a servant dies afer he snacked on one of them.
Kevan can be killed in the tournamet, like with the Assassine, disarming him is the cruelest choice again, since he is no danger anymore (though the text points out that he could have gotten for his weapon while on the ground).
After the Naval Battle, every surviver can be executed. If going for named characters
Togami could be killed. Killing Elodies father ends the game too quickly, Earthquake hinders Sabines investigation, and the Kraken seems to not appear if Togami is killed.
Finally,
Lucille,
Laurent,
Charlotte,
Emry and
Zahra can be executed if Sabine investigates after the chocolate. The latter can be killed instead of them.
How to do it:
20 Foreign History for
Brin, punish her.
60 Archery for
Woman on Trial, execute her
50 Flexibility and 50 Polearms for
Assassine, disarm and kill him.
Just accuse
Banion of sending Assassins to kill him without skills.
40 Intrigue to spy on
Arisse
80 Sense Magic and 60 Resist Magic to kill the
Lumen Rouge. So 60 Accounting to get Lumen sooner is key.
50 Music/Instrument to recruit Sabine.
Let
Adair live with his
grandfather, execute the latter a bit later.
Just let
Briony go in the forest. [Leaving her behind requires 60 lore, 70 herbs, 50 Running.]
Kevan requires 100 Polearms/Flexibility or just Wield Magic him.
Togami requires high Lumen and 100 Swords/Reflexes.
Execute
Lucille,
Laurent,
Charlotte,
Zahra and
Emry once Sabine informs you.
