How to win an event at the tournament?

I have tried several runs to try and win at one of the proper events at the tournament. I have tried Jousting, Fencing, Archery and Falconry but have never won, even when I had 100 in the stats that were tested. Is there some sort of hidden stat I need to get up in order to win at these events. I have also tried the mounted parade but it does not seem to have any winners, just if you did well or not.

I think the only event you can win at the tournament is the music one and you need to have maxed out on both instrument and voice to do so.

Elodie can't win at anything but music. I'd laugh if she won at jousting though. Just winning one round of jousting was pretty funny.
