You can. You can even end up owing money. I was goofing around and decided to chart that (also looking for an impoverished ending if there was one), when I also figured out how much money you could possibly earn. Reaching 16K is not easy though! It requires intimate knowledge of several events and very specific skill building.Hazel:

I'm also interested in finding out the slow way what sets the "tone" to Elodie's reign in the epilogue text. I've had militant, religious, artistic, verbose and adventurous queens. Cruelty has its own additional flavor text. I think adventurous is also in addition to the skill flavor?

Never miss a chance to be a complete jerk. Actively look for ways to create opportunities where you can be a jerk. Make it your only goal for that playthrough. That should help. Or if not, there is an easier way to do it that doesn't require you being the Mistress of Pain.Hazel:

I won't spoil anything, but if you figure out where the assassin comes from, you might make some logical assumptions. In fact, I should go test some things...

The one I found was using magic against Ixion although now I think of it, I think I got a Sedna-related assassin once. My early games were based around a natural scaredy-cat tendency and so I kept the princess in the palace all the time on grounds that it's not safe outside. The rate of eligible ladies is pretty low. Even outside of game-coded options, there's just not much to work with. Gwenelle is kind of a brat, Charlotte is related, and Adele... Well sure, you can empty the treasury pretty early on, but can you grow it to 16,000?Is there perhaps something that isn't a skill that could help you survive an uprising? Okay, I've tried having personal guards, a Lumen crystal without actually bonding to it, a pet dog, Arisse in the castle, Lucille in the castle, Arisse AND Lucille in the castle, and Adair in the castle. So I'm guessing it's not a person. Maybe foreign alliances? Going to try sucking up to Talasse and Ixion next...Or could I bribe the peasants with spare Lumen crystals? XD

As far as her mother's death was concerned, I always figured either they didn't realize what had really happened or someone (Maybe Joslyn, maybe Togami) was trying to cover it up. Alice is really hard to stumble over by accident but easy to get if you know how (and she only has one epilogue option) - Evrard's epilogues are controlled by a lot of hidden variables, so while it's not that hard to get an epilogue with him, getting a GOOD one is the hard part.#49 by micchan - Oct 30 2013

If you've made him taste food for you, then the only way to get a happy ending is to be really unpopular with nobles and/or commoners so that you end up bonding with him despite the difference in your rank.
If you trusted him enough not to treat him like a servant, then the only way to get a happy ending is to be really popular and to have Nova at peace with its neighbors, in which case Elodie can feel safe to indulge herself.

...Is what I'd like to say, but yeah, still no cigar. I don't get, I repeatedly get told how everyone love, people build shrine for me and no one even tries to assassinate me. I avoided war with my neighbors, either won the navy battle or defeated Togami personally... What else do you want, Elodie??
I couldn't get everyone to hate me and still make to coronation, which was not surprising. I suppose it's possible, but it requires an amazingly specific set of skills and/or careful planning with a walkthrough.If you win the civil war, most likely your nobles are still ticked at you afterwards, even though you have them under control enough to finish the game from there.
Also, regarding king Joslyn part in the epilogue: I never got a positive result for him. The best I got was to slightly adjust from 'alone forever' to 'not specifically alone forever'. Is there a somewhat happier result for him?You can push him into marrying someone but it's questionable whether that's actually a happier ending.

I somehow doubt spending the rest of one's life mostly alone (what with Elodie being busy queening) is the best outcome for anyone. Joslyn is in his early thirties when he loses his wife, it is entirely possible for him to find someone to spend his life with. I'm not saying people can't be happy without a partner, I just think between living without a family, and living with a partner you are fond of, the second option is the happier one.Ramidel:

The impression I've always gotten is that Joslyn loves his late wife dearly is perfectly happy with the family he has- even if Elodie is all that's left of that. What am I missing for 16k lassi? I've haven't accepted any offers, I've maxed accounting for raising taxes, I've triggered the civil war and held Briony hostage for money, won the naval battle and ransomed everyone, and I'm fairly sure I didn't have any border problems. Ah, never mind, I checked my logs and I spend some money recruiting more soldiers. In that case, I don't believe it's possible to win the battle without spending lassi on soldiers- I tried several times, getting the ships from Ixion, pardoning criminals, getting the climbing bonus, and maxing military. The only way to get the 1,000 lassi is to win the naval battle without Lumen, right? Unless there are other places to recruit soldiers without money, I don't think it's possible to win a naval victory while not spending. However, if I win the Lumen victory, I don't have the option to ransom. How do I get 16k lassi how??? It's been a while, but yes, you need to win the Shanjia fleet battle without spending anything on extra soldiers. I'm afraid I've forgotten the exact steps, but using magic without going all GRRR might be one. Yep, I just downloaded the update today. Six new achievements! I haven't been reading the beta thread, since I didn't want to spoil myself. I'm assuming the advisor is Arisse, Lumen!Charlotte can be done by making Lucille your Lumen Minister, and the earthquake is from using magic wrong, maybe related to the kraken? I'll be keeping an eye out for a new poison skillcheck. I'm not sure which uncle should be imprisoned, but I'm assuming Laurent because of Lucille.
