Patch 1.1 - New October 2012

#1 by hanako - Oct 6 2012

We have a new patch out with some minor bugfixes and, more importantly,

DEATH CHIBIS

There are now new graphics and new music for killing off Elodie.

To get the new content, go to the Preferences menu and select 'Check For Updates'. Adjust your setting to enable beta patches, and then upgrade to 1.1

Please let us know if you encounter any problems!

#3 by Bombermans - Oct 13 2012

YEEESH!!!

I definitely was wanting that option. It seemed that the deaths were like a punishment and not part of the fun. Now it is!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy And they even are unlockeable in the checklist!

Are you one of our vista/7 users who occasionally has weird updater problems?

biscuit

#6 by biscuit - Oct 17 2012

I've run the updater before and never had a problem. How would I check if I am a vista/7 user?

biscuit

#7 by biscuit - Oct 18 2012

Derp, found out; and yes I am. I never had the problem updating before though. :/

What version (and original and partial) versions does the update screen say you have?

What are the contents of the file C:\Program Files\Long Live The Queen\game\updater_admin.bat?

It may work if you either run the updater again or right-click the app in the start menu and run as Administrator, as well. (If it does, please let us know which approach worked.)

Current version: 0.6.9
Updated from 0.5.31.1

And running as an administrator seemed like it was going to work... but after a while of seeing the updates, I suddenly got this message:

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

After initialization, but before game start.
TypeError: set_mode() takes exactly 3 arguments (2 given)

When I actually open the game though, it looks like everything has updated... and ooh boy was I playing an old version. :O I haven't touched the game in months.

Oh, heck yes! Now to play again! Yea! I missed playing but had gotten all the checklist done...
I may be schizophrenic... but at least I have eachother.

I'm not random, you just can't think as fast as me.

Due to the current financial restraints the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I, too, am a Windows 7 user having an issue with the updater. Sad

hanako

#12 by hanako - Oct 23 2012

Try running the updater twice in a row (that is, letting it run and restart itself, then running it again without closing the program in between) - sometimes this helps jiggle the permissions settings so that the update will actually take.

cruelhazel

#13 by cruelhazel - Oct 23 2012

Alas! I have tried that. Sad Repeatedly. >.<
I managed to get it "Partially updated" to 1.1...?

Spiky Caterpillar

#14 by Spiky Caterpillar - Oct 23 2012

It looks from your uploaded traceback like the version you're updating from has a bug in the updater. We can send you a manual patch to the updater or a new installer if you like; it may also work if you right-click on Long Live The Queen in the start menu and select 'Run as Administrator', or if you run it as administrator once and then a second time as a normal user.

Ah! Ran as an admin and the update went through fine! Thank you!

My updater's not running. It says, "about to run the updater" and then the game freezes.

How long does it freeze for? Does it respond to left-click at all? Does it open any other windows? What version of Windows are you running, and what version of the game do you have? If you go into Preferences: Video Settings: Debugging Console and enter

import os
narrator(os.getcwd())
what does it say?

FantasyFan

The game just freezes. It ACTS like it's about to run the updater but it never actually runs it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it to work.

Just want to say that now that everything's installed, I've been having a lot of fun playing through and getting the death chibis.

Having them as 'collectables' takes some of the sting out of dying as I try to discover (or rediscover) certain endings.

FantasyFan

#21 by FantasyFan - Nov 4 2012

Just played it TRYING to die, which was awesome. Like biscuit said, it takes some of the stress of dying off.

I agree with you guys. For once I was frustrated I couldn't die! I've played this game so many times I instinctively go to the right moods and right options, and it took a lot of trial and error to suck as much as I used to at this game XD Cause let me tell you, when I messed up I messed up good.
I've been here so long even Hanako is sick of me
