Suggestion (Jan 24 event)

Suggestion (Jan 24 event)

#1 by Ariel Schnee - Feb 22 2011

When <character> has agreed to cheer Ellen up by taking her to the mall and then Damien confesses his feelings, on January 24, I think there should be an option where <character> can say "Sorry, I can't, I'm gay".

Hmm. Is that substantially different from the "I just don't feel that way" option, though? Would you as a player expect him to react differently to "I'm gay" instead of "I'm not interested"?

And if it does exist, should it only be available if you're on Ellen or Virginia's path?

I don't object to it as an option, it's just that the tangle of romantic events around that time period is rather complicated at the moment, so I want to be sure it's valuable before adding yet another variant to test! Smile

While I feel like Damien might react slightly differently--maybe being a bit more understanding and feeling less betrayed, but I don't think that if you're following Virginia or Ellen's path it makes that much of a difference anyway. I mean, either option takes you off of Damien's path. ^^; Besides, that kind of comment almost seems out of place when you consider how ambigious most of the character's sexualities are. Truthfully, I think that kind of response only has value if it allows you to stay friends with Damien and somehow benfit from that, rather than him being moody and sulking off like usual.

Just my two cents. :)

Yeah. It could have a different result. A very good one too.

"I just don't feel that way" and the other such responses make Damien mad at <character>.

With the "Sorry, I can't, I'm gay" option Damien could say something like "Oh, I see. My mistake then about that. I misunderstood the situation about us two." and still remain friends.

Are Virginia and Ellen the only girls that can be romanced? I was under the impression that I could romance Minnie if I constantly studied in the library with Minnie.

I'll think about it. There are... complications, and I can't say anything more at this point in time. Smile

(Speaking of ambiguous sexualities, has anyone yet found a particular piece of information about William?)

Minnie doesn't have a full romance path in this particular game. However, there is a plotline involving her...

I have! To anyone that hasn't it's best to make friends with both Donald and Damien. have detention with Donald a few times were he will ask you to ask his brother(William) how he feels about him. Then ask William what happened between him and Damien.

So i gotta ask. Is William... you know?

Wow, until you mentioned it, I never really saw the scene that way. Talk about ambiguous. xD Or maybe I'm just slow. To me, it always just seemed like he was ashamed that he had been nosy, and tried to protect his image by bashing Damien a bit whenever things came up. I suppose though, that when you look at it that way, that could have just been the way that Damien saw it, when really it was just that William had a crush on him.

I dunno... Damien takes any kind of rejection so badly that he'd probably still blow up and walk away.

He just might word it a bit differently, maybe say something like, "And you didn't think this was something important to tell me? You thought it'd be fun to watch all of this happen and not say a word?"

Heck, he may even think the character is lying.

I mean, the character not wanting to risk a good friendship is a rational response, but he reacts totally irrationally. He has every time the character has even given a hint of pushing him away. I think the only real way we'll get any good outcome out of all of this is if he comes back to the character later in the game and apologizes, since he's had a chance to cool off and rethink things.

Sigh. Ah, Damien, you're so dramatic and complicated. Smile

If you've followed Damien's path to the currently available point, you may now know why I hedged on this suggestion. The chances of him being cool with just friends at that point were pretty remote no matter WHAT your reasons were. Smile

However, by this point it is possible to have had some romantic interaction with a girl other than Virginia or Ellen...
