I managed to get through the game without learning a single damn spell. Finished with like 35 merits, too.

Several of the exams can be cleared without any spells: Run like hell past the Hodag, go to the gym a lot so you can open the exploding chest without being KO'd, challenge your opponent in the race to a battle of wits once they've opened the door for you and let your roommates do all the magic in the final while you just tank hits like a boss because your strength is so high at this point.

What about the exam with that you need an illusion spell to get through the wall?

No you'll have to throw that one. (Which is interesting since it's the exam that Ellen manages to do without any magic.)

Running past the Hodag is a bug, it's just one that is not practical to fix, as I understand. So technically you should fail or surrender that exam if you want to play fair. But hey.

At no point did I claim to be playing fair. Anyway, the 'joke' of the run was that the MC didn't believe in magic so we said that she made the Hodag go away by not believing in it, like a fairy.

Um, I have 100 strength and I still can't jump the abyss! Do I have to get a bridge of sorts or is there a magicless way to do this?
