What program was used to make Magical Diary?

I love magical diary horse hall and I want to make a game myself. What program was used to make it and how did you make the dungeons and merits point system?

I think Ren'Py? Don't quote me on that though. I'm looking into it right now but haven't gotten quite to the point of displaying a stats system (coding one would be the easy part). (That is to say, I've read through the first page of a tutorial.)
