Item secondary effects?

Do any of the items from the mall have secondary effects? 'Cos the Wings (both sets) and the Tiara etc. seem to be rather expensive for so little gain.

They pretty much look cool more than they are meant to be powerups.

As far as I know, there are no beneficial side-effects to the items, and nobody even notices or comments on your wings or halo or whatever. So they're pretty much just for looking cool in your yearbook.
