Hmm. What were you doing when that happened?

Nothing at all, I literally only opened the program to install the new update.

(ah, okay, I'll move these posts to general troubleshooting in a few minutes then, since it isn't related to this patch)

Obviously your game is CURSED. Smile

Hopefully Spiky will have a suggestion.

This crash is very odd - the only place I can see where the game should be able to get to that particular point is in the middle of an update.

When it crashed, was it bringing up the traceback in Notepad? Has it happened more than once, or just once? When was the last time the game started successfully? Have you upgraded any drivers since then? If you look up the traceback.txt file in Windows, what's the timestamp on it? (As if it crashes at exactly the wrong time, it might be bringing up an old traceback instead of the current one, for extra confusion.) What happens if you start the game with the shift key held down? What version of Windows and what version of Magical Diary do you have?

Basically it does it now everytime I try to update. Waited a day, nothing. I can't even update to the newest stable version. I'm stuck at 1.0.29.2. It opened the traceback in notepad and just restarts the game at the same version.

Ah, now the bug makes sense.

Delete the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Magical Diary - Horse Hall\game\dlc.rpyc and you should be able to upgrade. Once you upgrade to 1.0.30 or higher, you should be able to upgrade normally to future versions.

That fixed it, thank you so much!
