Nortan Issues?

Hi, Nortan won't let me download the free trial. Saying that it is a "Medium Risk" because "Very Few Users" have downloaded it. I don't know what to do because it looks like a great game, but I want to play the free trial before I buy it. Help?

That's kinda just Norton being insane - their entire argument is that it's a new game! Obviously not as many people have been able to download the demo yet, it hasn't even been released for a month yet!

And to make matters worse, they can only count the installs from people who have their program (they have no way of knowing how many other people have downloaded it), but they're warning their users not to install it because not that many other users have installed it... which means fewer of their users will install it, which means they will keep telling their users that few people have installed it.

If they even pretended something was actually wrong with the game I could contact them to explain that it was a false positive, but they're NOT claiming anything is wrong with the game - the only thing they're saying is that not a lot of people who use Norton have played it yet. Which is their fault!

There should be some way to tell it to let you install the demo anyway. If you're worried you can check with some of the other players here - as you can see, there are plenty of people playing the game.

I knew there was nothing wrong with the game, it just will not let me install it so I can't even be one of the "Very Few Users" who have downloaded. I was just wondering if you knew a way around this or if I had to wait for more people to download it.

Running some websearches it looks like not only is this driving small developers crazy, but even big ones like World of Warcraft are constantly running into this, with users saying that they have to go into Norton settings and temporarily turn off autoprotect and sonar in order to download patches. But I'm not a Norton user and don't know where those settings are or how to turn them on or off, so I can't give specific suggestions, sorry.

Amusing tidbit though - I've heard that several other antivirus programs now detect Norton as malware because of its tendency to be annoying and to nag people to pay them more money.

I have actually heard that too, but it was cheap when I got my new computer so I am stuck with it for three years. Thanks for your help.
