Election Qualification

I was just wondering, how exactly do you qualify to run for treasurer? I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the demerits you get at the beginning of the game, before it's time for the elections. Help please?

Well, Donald knows how to get rid of the demerits so you have to befriend him. On the 30(Monday) of the first month of school(September), sleep instead of going to class and you will accidentally meet Donald who made a prank for "Urchin"
Say: "Why are you doing this?"
"I have a better idea..."

Then later he will come to you. If you go with him, you will get 10 merits.

And later you will also get to choose between: Run for president/Run for Treasurer/ Don't run.

You can also get the merits when you write the love letter to Damien. If you take Red magic on Thursday the week of initiation and admit you wrote it, Damien will speak to Grabiner and the next day you will get the merits. Using Teleport Self on the first exam will give you ten merits but that is a little trickier to get.

So I know you can get them by being bad, but how do you get rid of the 10 you get in beginning before the choice for running as treasurer appears?? On Virginia's path and in tip that another member posted it says to run for treasurer with william but in the end i can't because of those merits
