Was it an accident that the beginning of the game screams Rocky Horror? Or was it intentional? Either way, made me smile XD

It's very intentional.

During REALLY REALLY early plot design phases when I was thinking of ways to put a bunch of people in a small location and keep them there, I realised that some of the possibilities sounded a bit like Rocky Horror, so I ran with it!
