How do you get the paladin ending?

Have high attack, defense, strength, and con (around 50-100) as well as 0 sin and high xp (I did it with about 1000). Have high dream as well or else you'll end up a royal guard.

I believe te evidence I have presented in Conqueror thread shows that Paladin=/=Guard with high Dream.

I read you can get by with 5 sin (as long as it isn't from murder), the tricky part for me is the spooking and taming because that's the only nonlethal way to get XP without sin

While I no longer remember because it's been way too long, it might be possible to get your sins forgiven at the church after getting the XP? But you have to avoid getting any more sin after the forgiveness, or it all comes back.

personally I got the Paladin ending with 13 sin
you can kill: the beast in the cave (hipo)
the goblin king.

all animals can be tamed, including fire salamanders and rats
all goblins (but the king) can be spooked, goblets are easy to spook and stronger fighters are spookes usually when they have less than half HP left or after 2 attacks
