Getting the Paladin ending

I tried for the Paladin ending twice so far and despite having at high Attack, Defense, Magic, and at least reasonable Stamina with no sin, I only got Royal Guard and Inventor.

What was your Dream like?

From my old files, the equation used to score points for the Paladin ending is:
xp/50 + magic/25 + attack/25 + dream/10
and your score is automatically set to 0 if you have less than 100 dream, less than 500 xp, more than 10 sin, or any murder sin.

I don't know if that's completely accurate since it's an old note file rather than the actual script, but that's at least what the original idea for the ending was supposed to be.

I had max Dream but I didn't have 250 Attack and Magic, if that's what's required.

No, those aren't required, those + bits are just values involved in scoring one ending against any other ending to determine which one you're best suited for. The Dream and the XP are requirements, the rest are bonuses.
